    Aeneas Williams might be one of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history, and even though he's in the Hall of Fame, he's still so underrated (probably because he spent a lot of the time in Arizona). Not a First Ballot Hall of Famer, and didn't even get in until 2014 even though he retired in 2004

      There is no might be one of the greatest. He absolutely is one of the greatest defensive backs in NFL history. The problem is for pretty much his whole prime, he played for one of the worst franchises in all of sports in that time.

    This was the start of a long run of playoff meltdowns by Favre where he either threw a boatload of interceptions and his team got blown out ('01, '02, '04) or he threw a game-losing interception in overtime ('03, '07, '09).

      Yep his playoff career was like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In the 1990s he was great with 3 straight NFC championship appearances, two wins, and 1 super bowl win. Some great performances in there. Then in the 2000s he was terrible in the playoffs for the most part.

    The 2000 Rams defense was ranked near the bottom of the league, that offseason they revamped the defense, made Lovie Smith the defensive coordinator and had a top 5 defense in the league.

    Favre was just such a weird Jekyll & Hyde act the latter half of his career. He could either be one of the leagues best quarterbacks - or one of the worst. I have to think if Holmgren hadn't been so damned power hungry and skipped town when he did that both he and Favre would have a few more items in their trophy cases.

      Argument could be made for Eli Manning, but Favre just was... weird. One year(2005/2008), he'd look horrible, and then another year(2007/2009), he'd be considered a top 5 QB. Still the only guy with 3 consecutive MVPs, so at least he was consistent with that.

      @@Theel25 Yeah but Favre at his peak form won three consecutive MVPs unless my memory is incorrect, far better than Eli ever was. Favre had the odd ability to be the best quarterback in the league one year and a mediocre one in another.

      @@dbruh936 Yeah, but I think that what made Eli odd was that his consistency in the playoffs was off the charts and usually is average regular season(besides 2008 and 2011). Seems like Manning was the best when the lights were the brightest.

      Favre and Rodgers both have similar “old guy” seasons with favre in 09 throwing for a terrific 33-7 ratio but Rodgers’ 2020 season is insane with 48-5 ratio. Can’t be compared.

    This comes full circle. In 2001, my first year of watching the NFL, I was rooting for the St. Louis Rams. Kurt Warner was my favorite player and got me into watching football. Now in their first playoff meeting since this one, I'm rooting for the Green Bay Packers. So what changed? The Rams going from St. Louis to LA after 2015.
