Don’t forget it also disables mds…. Big plus. And please understand your driving a 6.4 hemi, if you want “gas mileage” get you a diesel. Love my 6.4, but I don’t expect it to give me 19 mpg.
My 23 power wagon seems to have plenty of power in its stock configuration I really don’t have alot of faith in all these aftermarket gadgetry… it cost a bundle and rarely satisfies expectations from the advertised hype. The only thing I would really like is just to be able to lose the MDS the trucks honestly have plenty of power in stock configuration jmo honestly it’s a 4 ton off road HD truck not a scat pack challenger
Great video! Have been looking at adding one of these. But I’m sorry no one is buying a 3/4 ton or even a 1 ton gasser for the gas mileage. Buy a diesel if you’re looking for better MPGs
Im running same tuner with trinity head unit. My 6.4 gets 18.5 mpg on cruise set 72 ish stock mds off everyday on highway but in town with cold air and magnaflow exhaust like 12 /13 mpg . Definately worth it if you do alot of hiway driving paid for itself in fuel savings already , not to mention tuned you wont belive its the same truck tow mode is unbelieveable difference from stock shes a beast
@@kbtrucks i have a trinity 3 head unit all my controls for tune settings are thru the cruise control buttons more integrated with the truck so the head unit is just a monitor maybe thats why mine doesnt freeze up my settings appear in my dash cluster as you select them in my 22 ram 2500
i did all the mods and tuner at the same time, i use k&n on everything i own and always upgrade the exhaust , they do make a difference in smoothness and sound but the power is definately from the tuner, its nite and day difference, can tell pulling steady rpms and changing tunes the difference immediately while cycling thru
Thanks for the video. I see you’re able switch MDS Modes. 1-8. I can find the option have that displayed in the screen. 2021 Power Wagon. MDS is off on the truck “Pulsar” via the dash. Any help be great
Your tuner with intake and exhaust should make your truck pretty peppy all together. Gas mileage on a power wagon not gonna happen. Enjoy the performance.
@@highdesertexplorer123 I returned it but I definitely don’t have any complaints about the tunes. Mds off is definitely a little peppier and has a better exhaust sound. But I liked all the tunes, they all felt pretty good.
I just received the same setup from edge, about to install it but I also just installed mbrp exhaust and a AFE inverted cone filter those two things alone made a very noticeable difference. So I’ll see how much I can tell after installing the pulsar
Yeah I definitely noticed it on the low end with level 8. But yeah with the other stuff you have on there hopefully you’ll get a big power game. I really want to do exhaust next.
So just got my pulsar and edge cts 3 installed today 12-26-22. So far the monitor seems to be working just fine didn’t seem to lag and I immediately set the pulsar to level 8 went for a short drive and the throttle seemed a bit more touchy and from a hard pull it spun my 33s way harder than before. Now also I noticed on the monitor at the first setup it said it now has on the fly tuning I don’t if I’ll try to adjust tuning while it’s running or driving but that was interesting. But with the drop in AFE air filter and the MBRP exhaust it seems to have woken the truck up a lot more 2021 Ram 2500 6.4
Yeah you can get the combo with screen and tuner on AmericanTrucks.com. I can’t find the the part number online though. But you can get the pulsar tuner and you can choose the monitor you want to come with it. They have several different options for the monitor.
From a technical standpoint 25/40 improvement is pretty good for a naturally aspirated vehicle with no other modifications to tune for. You could likely get a bit more with intake and exhaust but those have to be accounted for in the tune. Now for 1k, is it worth it? Not in my opinion. But to each their own.
Yeah we ended up sending it back because we didn’t think it was worth 1k$. I won’t say I wasn’t happy with it, it was a good tuner but I 1,000$ is a lot for a off the shelf tuner.
Its worth it im running it with trinity monitor no bullshit or freezing, get you a hemi fever tune for your bolt on upgrades, send you a map to download into it smooth it right out
The level 8 tune feels great and the tow tune definitely helps with a heavy load but it still doesn’t really give you any better mpgs. And the monitor is really glitchy so I’m sending it back. I expected something a little bit nicer for $1000.
Yeah that’s definitely a cheaper option than with the monitor but I really liked how convenient the monitor was. I just didn’t like how glitchy it was, especially for how pricey it is.
Instead of the monitor you can use the cruse control buttons to switch between tune levels. There’s more to it but I can’t remember all of the steps you have to take. There are some helpful videos on it though.
Just fyi. A tuner that promises more power will never give you better mpg. They're literally addimg fuel to the motor. Now the eco side of the tuner may cut back power. If you live in the mountains and hills, you probably will get worse than stock because its always down shifting. Keeping the tune on and opening up the air ways can give you better mpg IF you can keep your foot off the gas. More power somtime is better because you're running atca lower rpm. Fine line.
Theory’s arent facts, real world results are facts, and the tuner adds 3.5 mpg just because she dont gotta work hard at all, and thats in tow tune where the transmission keeps it in optimum power range for the task at hand hills while towing heavy ofcorse shes gonna eat fuel its a 6.4, but shes not gonna downshift 4 gears to make the power she pulls like a truck should down a gear and disappear eats hills for fun!
