I’ve come to realize Robert Plant’s solo career gets an A+ for effort and quality. This song is every bit as good as Zepplin songs. At the time, I bought the albums, but thought of it automatically inferior. I was wrong

OMG!! I haven't heard this since probably 88. But when I put it on, I knew it had some enormous significance to me. I closed my eyes while I started dancing and I swear I felt like my loving husband who died of cancer 9 yrs ago was holding me in his arms, kissing my neck, lifting me up and then I remembered.............So special, so real, so intense. Am I sad now. Of course. But the tears are worth being able to relive something that I can never experience with him again in this life.

@@thomasfitzsimmons897 Definitely one of most important and influential rock vocalists, but the category "musician" paints with too broad of a brush. Page would be a more realistic choice for "important" considering his musicianship (including what extends beyond LZ), compositions, arrangements, production, and studio engineering. So much more than just a great rock guitarist. However, him and Plant together (along with Bonzo and Jonesy) were the perfect storm.

@Mark Given that Jones is a multi-instrumentalist, his credentials and record as a musician are at least as much so, if not more so, than with Page. That said, Jones, Page, and Bonham have all had great credentials for musicianship.

@@GaryBall-vb2jk I don't understand what you mean about the speed. The video running time here is not shorter in the 1080p resolution than the officially released length of the audio track when I play it on my laptop. On a phone 480 would suffice but I mostly use a laptop with a 3840 x 2160 display. 480 streaming would look like to me a transmission from Pluto.

I saw Robert Plant on this tour in 1983 in Buffalo, NY. The Firm opened up. Robert said, we're going to do something we haven't done in a long time. Jimmy Page came on stage, played the first few notes of "Black Dog" and the whole crowd lost their minds. They played Led Zeppelin songs for the rest of the tour, but I was so thrilled to be there for that moment. Truly glorious.

Little fun fact: Robert plant didn't write this song - Phil Johnstone , David Barratt did. Also People seem to have no idea of the hole meaning of this song , but its about(IMO) one older guy that keeps meeting soulless young men that are like dolls out to use him in anyway shape or forum, just like he is doing to them.
I'm also NOT projecting here, I'm not gay, not looking to be, have no problem with them doing their thing, but have studied the lyrics tying to understand the meaning of this song and came to the conclusion that, yes its about being an older gay (rich) in the mid 80's and getting used himself in the pursuit of he's lust.

Between the wandering in the desert, the hair, the vaguely "biker western" costumes with the bold color palate, and band attempting to look cool while not playing their instruments - and in particular, the drummer banging on a single tom with a mallet - it is the quintessential late-80s music video. It is absolutely marvelous.
Made that much better by Plant's truly vivid over-the-top lyrical stylings. "You were pumping iron as I was pumping irony" and "With all the romance of the Ton-Ton Macoute" are simultaneously two of the greatest and most ridiculous lines in rock.

Anyway she kept up with this , so l thought ok I'll buy his album " Now And Zen." And what a surprise !! Listening to the first track " Heaven Knows "
