Almost 30 years later and the punchline "Da Bears" still works and is used.
Stephen Mason Da Bearsssss
@@ciceroyak29 DAAAAAAA Bears
Who blew it yesterday? DAAAA BEAARS
Da bears 100 points in 20 years
True tho
Gotta love that 72-2 score. The bears crush so hard but still get stopped for a safety somehow 😂

Must be without Ditka because with Ditka it's closer to 150-2.

74 you airhead
True!!!!
My family is from south side Chicago and this skit is insanely accurate. They are Bears and Sox fans. We used to eat Vito and Nicks and watch Bears all the time.
Vito and Nick's sells frozen pizza 🍕 at Walmart 😊
Me, from Boston seeing the term "Sox fan" in this context: AYYO?!

They have them at Jewel in the southwest burbs... Insanely good frozen pizza 👍

That's exactly how Chicagoans think about New York teams.

I’m from Chicago and I’m confused why you put a V in the word oer
Just a Philadelphia fan passing by, even we can get behind "Da Bears" for this sketch!

@@dnasty312 True story!
Over 30 years old and this is still funny.
I saw these sketches as a kid, and I was unsure whether they were real or fictional, probably because my dad had WSCR on at every moment of the day.
Mike Meyers and his Canadian Chicago accent
Joe is the only one from Chicago of the lot I think.
It’s so similar, it works 😝
@@TEGRULZ Chris Farley was from Madison, WI which is about 2 hours from Chicago. But, he also lived here (Chicago)
JMW 708 and sadly passing away there
Meyers is Canadian. The accent probably wasnt too hard to do
Wasn't this the only skit that Bill Swerski (Joe Mantegna) actually appeared in? He would have several heart attacks afterwards that his brudder Bob (George Wendt) had to sit in for Bill 🤣
'Ow are ya, Bab?
He appeared in one more Superfans skit filling in for Farley who was in rehab at the time.
I believe it was the episode where Ditka was fired from Da Bears as head coach.
@@MentalLiberationyeah the one where they write a letter to McCaskey and he spills the cheese sauce on top of it
he was solving crimes bro
Being a lifelong Chicago resident; I can tell you they nail it😆
I try to tell ppl that we sound like this. They think it's exaggerated for the show.
I work with people from Chicago. You absolutely sound like this and I love the Chicago accent.
Mantegna is Chicago born and raised, and a lot of SNL guys were second city guys first, so this group knows Chicago
@@FL-ur3wg
I do a reasonably good job suppressing my Chicago accent although when I'm tired or aggravated it does slip out.
Wearing sunglasses inside the bar 😂
This skit makes me homesick for Chicago. Born and raised in Chicagoland and knew many guys just like this LOL
It's changing for the much much worse 🙁
My dad still has that muchsash and wears aviators
I always thought it was a joke that bill was recovering from a heart attack haha . And Bob was just a permanent fill in
My wife is a huge Criminal Minds fan. She had no idea that's Rossi. He's also Fat Tony on The Simpsons.
the very first of these skits. I remember watching this live.
SniffyPoo lucky us! I also saw the Indy 1991 500 skit live, with George Wendt as Bob Swerski. It holds up.
Odenkirk - “Polish saaaaaahsage” and “I taht it wuz a Mini Ditkeh..” Solid gold.
That's Robert Smigel, not Bob Odenkirk. Odenkirk & Smigel did write the sketch together.
I could not stop laughing when he called New York a "Crime infested rat hole." Pretty obvious why. I find it especially funny since I'm from Chicago.
St. Louis has entered the chat. Literally had a cop give me a thumbs up while blasting through a red light cause he knew safety was key
😂
¿Por que no los dos?
The score predictions always have me cracking up 🤣
Joe Mantegna cracked me up as a kid in the film “Baby’s day out”
Bill Swerski never recovered from his most recent heart attack.
He died?
@@sharonmcduffiealabama3928 No, George Wendt just replaced his character as "Bob Swerski" his brother since Joe Mantegna didn't come back to host. They just kept saying "I'm Bob, filling in for my brother who's recovering from his most recent heart attack."
@@mae2759 it works as Wendt and Mantegna are both Chicagoites. Accent is perfect. Myers not so much lol

Dale Chawkins facts he’s from Cicero

Right? Mike Myers covering his Canadian/Toronto dialect.

@@StuUngarFootball sucks these days
The most heartwarming moment I got an AI script generator to make was with Bill Swerski and the Superfans standing on Wrigley Field with Steve Bartman (in a Bears jersey) and announcing to the angry crowd that Steve is one of them.

Also the "Go shoot somebody with a gun" line didn't exactly age well for Chicago
DAAAA Bearsss! 🐻⬇
Rest to the peace Chris Farley / da bears is my 3 favorite NFL football team
Growing up in Chicago and a Bears fan, I used to love these sketches. Now, looking at them with an adult perspective, I can clearly see that this was New York's way of mocking Chicago with the exaggerated accents (trust me, most Chicagoans do NOT talk like this) caricatures of working class Chicago, and their portrayal of Ditka as a god. As all Bears fans know, if it wasn't for founder George Halas, there never would have been a "Coach Ditka." Going through these sketches, it was all about "Ditka", or "Sweetness" or "Butkus." Not ONE mention of Halas. Now, it is true that this sketch originated at Second City in Chicago, and three of the actors who portrayed these characters were from Chicago (Chris Farley, Joe Mantegna, and George Wendt (not in this skit but would appear as host in the following skits as Bill's "brudder" Bob Swerski)). I do believe Robert Smigel is a New Yorker and Mike Meyers is from Canada. Anyway, SNL took this sketch and made it popular. The Superfans may not have given the Bears any success, but they were a prominent feature at the beginning of the Bulls dominance in the 1990s for this was right at the beginning of their first three-peat as champions.
who cares :/ you people and your life stories no one gives a dabear shit
you should meet my family lotta of em talk like dis
Just so you know, it was written by a Chicagoan and Joe Mantegna in the skit is from Chicago

"Da Bears" laid an egg against the Pack last night. God Damned AWFUL!!!
BOW DOWN to the mighty Pack!
Guy Johnson naw, Mitch laid an egg😂
@@zackfinn3914 I stand corrected. Blame starts with Nagy though. Perhaps keeping your starters out of the preseason wasn't such a good idea. Nor was going for it on 4th & 10. Nor was running the ball only 15 times, Lest we forget, a RIDICULOUS 1st and 40 situation.
No worries. Packers cheated. Even Ditka couldn’t intervene there 😜
Guy Johnson yeah, that game, really makes you want to shed the tears, “Da Tears”

Chicago to become Da Bears.
It breaks my heart to remember the Ditka era.
Everything seemed pretty close to reality except when Chris Farley asked for "ketchup" at 3:20. Chicago still does not believe in the existence of "ketchup".

The ketchup/catsup was definitely not a Chicago move. They butchered pronouncing bratwurst, too. Nit-picking, though. Loved these bits.

They were a little bit off on their predictions that year 🤣🤣🤣
Did they talk about the 1990 NFL Playoffs? That would make it even funnier, as “Da Bears“ and Ditka lost 3-31 against the Giants.
Marcel Herrmann Yes. This was the game they were referring to. FYI, you always put the bigger number first, so the bears lost 31-3.
@@TheGodYouWishYouKnew Most likely he's a new yorker , GO BEARS!! 🐻🐻🐻
It seems like every time SNL would air one of these skits before a Bears game, the Bears always ended up losing that game. We have this skit before the Division Round game against the Giants. Final score: Giants 31, Bears 3. Then they aired a skit on the next season's premiere (which was hosted by Michael Jordan) before Game 5 against the Buffalo Bills. Final score: Buffalo 35, Bears 20. Next was a skit about the Thanksgiving game in 1991 against the Detroit Lions with host Macaulay Culkin. Final score: Lions 16, Bears 6. I also recall a brief skit three of the Superfans did prior to that Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins (remember NBC carried the AFC Sunday afternoon package back then). The final score on that one: Dolphins 16, Bears 13. Today we complain about our kickers missing crucial field goals. Well, in this game, then kicker Kevin Butler missed a last second field goal which would have sent the game to overtime. There was one more Bears skit they did during the 1992 season. I forget what game it was prior to, but it involved Bob Swerski in the hospital recovering from a heart attack and having been hooked up to an IV containing barbeque sauce. It was told if the Bears won out the rest of the season, they would finish 8-8. Of course we all know that didn't happen and Ditka ended up getting fired at the end of the season.
85 BEARS...best team in the history of the NFL
