    annapurna's decision to venture into videogame publishing, animation, and theatre has shown why they are one of the few movie studios who people seem to like right now

    Last weekend I played Last Stop and loved it. After realizing it was an Annapurna game, I decided to look at a list of Annapurna games and realized there were a lot of games that I didn’t know they made. I’ve been working my way through some of the ones I hadn’t played it and decided I should look up a tier list and found this video. You did a great job describing each game.

      Thank you so much for saying so! It really was a great pleasure playing all of the games in their catalog. If you'd like, there is a tierlist template at the bottom of the description if you'd like to rank the games yourself! It doesn't have any of the releases from this year, but I'll fix that with another video in December

I'm happy with putting them all into the one video, but I was considering doing a one-off upload of my Kentucky Route Zero thoughts, because that was one of my favourites.

    Got Journey for my non-gamer partner to play due to this video. I figured I wouldn't have been mind-blown by the co-op since I was spoiled, but now I lead my partner to a treasure I cannot possess. She thoroughly enjoyed the game.
    But I digress, I just wanted to comment to increase the engagement on this video.

      I included a full tier list for every game I played at the end, but my personal favourites were Outer Wilds (DLC included), Sayonara Wild Hearts, and The Pathless. @@Jexonite What would you say is the overall Vibe of Anaperna games ? What are themes and ideas that they attract and go for? I've only played two or three but based on your recaps it seems like they like games that value unique gameplay and personal introspective ideas.

    • @Jexonite
      @Jexonite  Год назад +2

      That's a tricky question, because while I do believe they publish games based on unique gameplay mechanics and intriguing premises, I find a through-thread of emotionality at the forefront of a lot of their picks. They're consistent in delivering fun games to play but also less intense ones for emotional exploration. They've got a game coming out next year about surviving in the wilds with DINOSAURS, and a fighting game about confronting ex lovers, but also a game about a mother and daughter taking a road trip to uncover a mysterious past. Games are made by their respective developers, all of who have different stories they want to tell, and so the accumulation of Annapurna's catalog is rich with diversity, but a commonality between them all seems to be plights of the human condition. Outer Wilds tapped into existential dread, Sayonara Wild Hearts also reflected on love, Kentucky Route Zero was about a whole bunch of stuff, but there’s also Neon White which is just a really fun speedrunning game, and Stray which is more or less just a cute cat game.
      In my opinion, what makes AI’s catalog so special is the eclectic range of emotional resonance mixed in with unique and intriguing gameplay mechanics and presentations!
      I apologize for the long response, but like I said, it’s a tricky question! I hope this somewhat answered it!

      @@Jexonite That's cool I agree with you. I just looked up annapurna's Wikipedia and they said and they aim to publish games that are Original, Emotional, and Personal. So there you go 😉 overall I think it's good that they encourage development of games like those. More variety to the industry and less generic games that casual people will think of and more of ones that make you think

    Solar Ash was a painful and arduous journey for me. It's not a bad game at all, but I struggled with the camera and the slippery motion of the character...So many instances of the camera moving to an unhelpful angle, hiding things from my view...seriously annoying. And since it's a "racing game", I couldn't fix the camera while racing against the clock.

    i’m a little late to this, but i’m in the middle of attempting to unlock 100% of achievements in every Annapurna game, and this was super interesting to watch as a precursor to that! i’m currently at 8 done with another 4 in my library, hoping what happened to you with that last achievement in The Pathless won’t also happen to me😅

    • @Jexonite
      @Jexonite  Год назад +1

      That sounds like quite the endeavour, but also a lot of fun! My advice would be to get every achievement on the same save file in The Pathless without reverting back to a previous save. For the final achievement, I'm guessing it doesn't activate through steam, but instead the game verifies it when everything has been completed on the same save.
      Question for YOU though: What's been your favourite game so far in that list to 100%?

    • @pmLite_

      @@Jexonite got it, thanks for the tip.
      my favorite so far has been Neon White (it’s my favorite game of all time lol), but i’ve been pleasantly surprised by most of these games which is why i decided to 100% all of them haha. Sayonara Wild Hearts and Solar Ash were also really really good

    • @Jexonite
      @Jexonite  Год назад +1

      @@pmLite_ Great pick! I don't really have the gamer tenacity to complete Neon White's gauntlet of achievements, but I did get the true ending and got ace medals on about half the courses. Really fun game!
      I also really like how SWH does its achievement system, even though I did just end up googling what some of the answers were.

    • @pmLite_
      @pmLite_ Год назад

      @@Jexonite very fair, i spent about a month playing nothing but Neon White when it first came out so i ended up getting the achievements pretty quickly and at one point actually had a (very short-lived) world record on one stage! and i agree, the SWH achievement “clues” are cool too

    I tried outer wilds and somehow I didn't like it. I'll give it another try then.. Abzu is not on the list? oh right it's on 505. Ashen for me should be at least A tier because I love dark souls series the only let down for ashen is the last boss, cheesed her because it's too unfair. I'm currently playing pathless and my jaw keep dropping because of the view, truly an S tier!
