    I was exposed to toxic soil and water at Fort Dix New Jersey. After 6 weeks a lot of us ended up in the hospital with some sort of respiratory problem. This in turn ended up turning into COPD which caused my hypertension and high blood pressure and to top it off I was a mechanic and exposed to asbestos and ended up with asbestosis and calcified nodules in my lungs. I was a healthy 17-year-old when I when in the military Hopefully I can get approved with the PACT ACT!

    I was just approved for cognitive impairment secondary to service connected hypertension Hypertension can cause much damage to your body and if your hypertension is service connected any illness it causes can be service connected.

      Wow , good for you I was diagnosed with high blood pressure while on active duty and the VA Medical Board still denied my claim and had my primary care write a Nexus Letter, I don't understand how some get approved and others get denied when its's been documented in your medical records prior to my enlistment there were no signs of hypertension until I was diagnosed by the Navy doctors, it just doesn't make sense.

      @@virtuositycashif hypertension is controlled to normal levels with meds then no disability is considered. If use meds and still high then disability. And it has to be life threatening high. Unfair rating system.

    Why does the VA take BP after you are required to take a maintenance drug. My BP is much higher without medicine controls.

    • @literalmed
      @literalmed  5 месяцев назад +1

      Because that is the only way to know if the medicine is doing its job. If your blood pressure is high despite taking your medications, the provider can adjust the dose. But if you ask about why it is taken during the C&P exam, per the M21-1, if you have a current diagnosis of hypertension or isolated systolic hypertension, that is currently controlled by (or asymptomatic with) medication, and there is a past competent diagnosis that was made in service, based on manifestation of blood pressure readings to a compensable degree within the presumptive period as provided in 38 CFR 3.307 and 38 CFR 3.309(a), or secondary to an SC disability, then taking the current blood pressure is not necessary.
      taking the current BP is not necessary.

    What do you do when the bp machines they are issueing are not accurate? I have proven that the monitors are not accurate! My monitor reads 10 points lower than the hospitals equipment. I take 3 different meds to control it. The numbers are artificial because of the meds.

    • @literalmed
      @literalmed  7 месяцев назад

      You can mention it to them and ask if they can take it manually instead of using the machine. Also, some discrepancy is still possible, you will rarely get the same numbers in different machines. In addition, the quality of the equipment has to be taken into consideration, as well as other factors when evaluating who has the most accurate blood pressure readings.

    The VA denied me and told me it was supposed to be 5 days straight that my unit while deployed was supposed to take my pressure. Is this true?

    • @literalmed
      @literalmed  8 месяцев назад +1

      To have a better idea of your case and the reasoning behind the denial, I would have to review the decision letter. You can fill out the consultation form at www.literalmed.com and I can review it at no cost.

      HTN is considered a presumptive condition after Agent Orange exposure.
