It might be unintentional on GW's part, but space marine operations running on a 24 hour cycle would be a neat holdover from their earliest times on earth preparing for the great crusade.
Yeah that does sound cool but I doubt it. After watching interstellar it difficult to believe the imperium would be able to function the way it does and not have trouble with time bending
WJ Cooke, didn't take math class did you? Let me tell you: one hundred as a hundred numbers( technically about 191). Yes, with a hundred you count from 1 to 100 not 1-60!
He said: Take the hour of the day add 100 to it and that is military time: 1 PM = 13 hours = 13 + 100 = 113. What should have been said: Take the hour of the day "multiply 100 with it" and that is military time: 1 PM = 13 hours = 13 × 100 = 1300.
Dont think its unusual for chapters to not consider the Emperor a God. When the Emperor was walking, he severely punished chapters that made him out to be one.
Chaplain Thor but that is exactly how it works in 40k, if enough people believe in the emperor being a god, then there emotions manifest in the warp, and seeing as the emperor has a HUGE presence in the warp, it adds to his power basically in the same way that Chaos Gods gain there power, he is an Imperial Chaos God at this stage and if he did die, the psychic manifestation of peoples belief of him being a god COULD rebirth him as an actual god in the Warp
Luanro aren't you talking about the power that the orcs posses like how they believe a certain color makes something go faster or have bigger explosion.
Nicholas Dibble it is similair, but no, the orcs have a latent ability to change the very essence of what is around them, im talking about the very emotions, beliefs, thoughts and actions of every living being with a soul in the galaxy, if it has a soul, it is connected in some way to the warp, and everything they think, believe, or do, contributes to things that happen in the warp, why do you think Khorne is stronger when people fight? or Slannesh when a sadistic orgy is happening? its because there emotions and actions are contributing to there power as warp beings and psychic manifestations, as I said the emperor has a physical body, he is tied to the material realm, HOWEVER, He has MASSIVE psychic abilities, and the beliefs and actions of literally trillions of humans, praying and fighting in his name as a GOD, HAS to have SOME effect on him in the warp, maybe not his physical body, but his splintered psyche in the warp. Take the Living saints for example, imagine them as Greater demons of the Emperor, his psychic powers creating beings of immense power very similar to the Greater demons of other Warp Gods, or the Legion of the Damned? not much is known about them, but what if they are the Psychic manifestations of the fallen Space Marines who have not yet fulfilled there purpose to the Imperium and the Emperor (both previously mentioned are theories I personally believe in, you can take that as you will) Just some food for thought :)
+Nicholas Dibble orcs affect realtime with their beliefs, Luanro is talking about the Warp; in the Warp beliefs have power, and the stronger they are the stronger the manifestation; the problem is, the dark side of sapient's souls started warping the Immaterium, which is what it used to be called, and then Daemons showed up
Yeah the lore on the daily life of a Space Marine kinda sounds outdated plus you have chapters like the Salamanders (that probably do quests for the people of there homeworld) and Space Wolves (that probably take part in fenris traditions and have entire feasts for dinner).
From an Army veteran... Military Time 0000 =12:00am because 0100-1200 as it sounds thats the AM hours and noon 1300 - 2300 subtract 12 (pm hours) 13-12= 1 1pm 23-12=11 11pm
Usually alcoholic beverages such as Fenrisian Ale is one of the only few drinks potent enough to intoxicate an Astartes. The kind of alcohol normal humans drink in comparison is basically water to them.
Just going off bodymass and assuming normal human metabolism, about 8 or 9 drinks for a Marine to be able to feel any real effect, probably 12 if they're Space Wolves
0400 - Wake Up. 0600 - Grab Gear 0800 - Be at the front lines 1000 - Get skullfucked by a Chaos/Tau/Tyranid/Astartes/Inquisition/DarkEldar/Eldar - Warrior 1005 - ...
1010 - cry uncontrollably because you survived. 1015 - inspected by the commissar while still crying, approved to continue front line duty. 1020 - repeat 0800 step and onwards.....still crying......
Polish Solid Brass Testicles and prepare for another day, also attach flashlight to bayonet lug to make lasgun twin linked thus cementing your status as a veteran guardsmen.
I don't think they would get bored, I think that they are aware of their very important duties to the Emperor and probably realize without constant hardcore training and the kind of situations they get send into they need to be on their very tip top A game at all times to even have a chance of survival, even being a mighty Astartes, they are still sent in to combat the deadliest foes that even the mighty Storm Troopers would have trouble bringing down. Tldr, they are pro soldiers that don't do anything besides train for war because they essentially have nothing else to do. What is a 8 foot tall 500 pound man who has lived in a gladiator school almost his entire life going to do for fun? My money is on, "continue training for war" and "crushing the enemies of the Emperor."
"Military Time" or the 24 hour clock can be better described as the actual stated time in the morning and every hour in the afternoon has twelve added to it. 1923 is 7:23 PM 0417 is 4:17 AM
Suggestion: How do people in the imperium calulate and keep months and years and days on all worlds of the imperium of man?? For example: Holy Terra, 41st millennium, year 937, (what is the day of month and or year).
I believe the imperial dating system is day year millennium so we would write the current date as 321.022.M2 (321st day of the 22nd year of the second millennium). Each planet would differ due to orbits around its star, and compared to earth/“terra”, much like how time on earth is compared to gmt as ground zero for the base time of the planet earth +/- where you are.
No one in the military says "1300 hours". It's just "1300" (thirteen hundred) for 1:00 pm, or "1330" (thirteen thirty) for 1:30 pm. "1300 hours" would be more than 54 days (1300/24).
As a military veteran who was involved extensively in planning and conducting training for a company of Infantry Marines, I can say this is surprisingly realistic for 40k: It doesn't differ that much from the military life of the modern elite forces! That much live fire and hazardous environment training would be considered far, far too costly in terms of both finances and lives: The number of casualties it would generate over time would today be judged far more costly, but in WWII, it absolutely would not have been unusual or unexpected: Fatalities training were considered worth it only if they would save casualties on the actual battlefield, and if they could, almost nothing was considered too dangerous as far as training goes. Also, this lifestyle reminds me a lot of different warrior monks from history, like the knights hospitalar and many Samauri clans. For those of you wondering if training every day can be monotonous, yes, it can. But it's worth it: Learning to do something complex and dangerous, and then being able to reflexively implement it correctly and accomplishing a feat you learned that at first seemed impossible...that is seriously satisfying. I love shooting! I wish my day started with firing rites! Omg to live somewhere with an easy access firing range, exotic weapons and unlimited practice ammo is every soldiers dream!
@@OneMindSyndicate I know 40k/gw is British, I worked with British military a little in Afghanistan, and the only thing that could stop those guys was their owm political leadership. I sometimes get a really strong sense of British military history and pride in a lot of 40k, in everything from lore to some rules and mechanics. Especially with tanks ramming things. The UK was all about that in WWII xD
@@OneMindSyndicate Idk if it's just me, but the whole transhumanistic aspect of Space Marines really intrigues and fascinates me; Superhuman, not in the sense of being better than man, but without their weaknesses and fragility...that spark of humanity, like all of us, but swaddled in ceramite, cradled in plasteel and duraluminim, kept as far from the horrors of the void as possible...
MrTheoristFist That is incorrect. Exiled Space Marines are normally placed on penal missions where they will at least die with honor. Or sometimes placed on penal companies like Death Company. (edit) this is also known as the Death Oath.
Military Time does not include the "hours" at the end. If you are saying 8:00 AM, you say "oh-eight-hundred", no hours included. 8:30 AM is "oh-eight-thirty". On the concept of The Emperor, religion, and Astartes. While a number of space marine chapters probably do see the Emperor as a man, each chapter of Astartes has a different identity and traditions from the rest, and are unique unto themselves. As different as these many chapters are, it wouldn't be to far a possibility that a number of them have become much like Lorgar and the Wordbearers were before their fall, seeing the Emperor as godlike. A chapter could have been influenced by the Imperial Cult in some way, perhaps through proximity to a shrine world, or even through close alliance with the Sisters of Battle and their influence over time. Even those chapters who do not see the Emperor as a god may still feel a desire to show an almost holy reverence for him, much like for a saint or revered leader of a nation....they can be human, and yet still gain the reverence from devoted followers.
hey guys love your vids there the only thing i have playing as i paint my army's you guys do an amazing job of spreading the awesome amazing word of the grim darks lore i do have a question what are your thoughts on the 1000 sons do you think what happened to them was justified or should the imperium try to bring them back into the fold do you think other renegade chapters would follow like the night lords ???
There's a lot of lore that refers to Space Marines engaging in artistic pursuits or other personal interests during their spare time. Hard to see how to square that circle with this schedule.
It's funny how you Americans call the 24 hour system "military time". None of the countries I've lived used AM and PM, it was always "hey, let's meet at [location] at 13h" or something like that
interesting, I always wondered about it. I am honestly amazed they even get 15 minutes of 'free time' a day. The Praying 3 times a day is also interesting, i always thought it was more like twice a day and ALOT more training. The rituals are very zealous, but i always felt it was horse sh!t that the our Holy Warriors did not see the God-Emperor as such. If the Space Marines did not believe so then there would be a much higher rate of corruption since their minds could stray from His Holy Light. MAYBE the filthy Psycers would thing such things, but you must always be watchful of those that would practice witchcraft of any kind.

question:why do things work just because orks believe they do? example: blood axes believe that camouflage works even if it's not matching the environment.
Standard time, military time, jeez.......there's only a handful of times that really matter: the time you're born, the time you die, the time you get to eat, the time you get to sleep, the time you get paid, the time you get LAID, and 4:20!!!
I'd kinda like to find out what the normal people of the imperium get up to. Like living conditions on hive worlds, black markets recreation activities etc.
All work and no play won´t make a Space Marine a dull guy. Hoorah for hypnotic indoctrination (and zero libido)! But did the Emperor create the Primarchs all at once or one after the other?
40k Sugestion: Auxillaries of the Imperium. I redin Codex 6th Edition and WD302 30 years of 40k talked about Ultramarine Deffence Auxillaries of Macrage. Also the palid skin peoples of one of the worlds same system as Fenris. what arethey, how were they equiped, their organisation?
If you're still around I would like to know where you got these references from. Are the actual exerts from stories are they from any codex or game supplement? Could they be from an article printed in white dwarf, or did you just make this up thinking it sounded, great?
7:25 Actually it was 328 Hours. Not 328 days. Even a space marine cannot go without sleep and still maintain his sanity for nearly a year. Most likely would be dead long before then. 328 hours is almost 2 weeks [13 days]
On the concept of daily rituals and repetition. Any normal person who does the same thing, day in, day out, will succumb to boredom from monotony. However, since Astartes have had such extensive modifications and upgrades to their bodies, including their minds, it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to think that maybe the same implant that allows them to stay awake for such prolonged periods of time also gives them the stimulus they need to stay awake, focused, and, for lack of a better way to say it, hyperactive in a way like their on adrenaline. Hell, being in an ever-present state of adrenaline boosted awareness could be normal for them, and could even make sense when taking into account their enhanced reflexes as well......why enhance the body, unless you have an enhanced mind to make full use of it? If such a thing were true, then "boredom" would be very rare among Astartes.
All this lore is mostly fan lore imo, the sectors Humans own are usually almost always attacked by xenos and heretics alike. Maybe they can do this stuff when they are traveling to the sector where the fighting is done and where they are needed but to cycle like this through them is downright impossible considering the military hours plus usually chapters are spread out anyways so it shouldn't take that long for the nearest chapter to answer a distress call from the Imperium that is requesting Space Marine support - speaking for the current timeline. Before the Horus Heresy yea, no problem, I agree with this to be legit in that case.
It might be unintentional on GW's part, but space marine operations running on a 24 hour cycle would be a neat holdover from their earliest times on earth preparing for the great crusade.

Sounds like how ancient Spartan soldiers trained
suggestion: 40 facts on the fall of cadia with spoilers
question:why do things work just because orks believe they do? example: blood axes believe that camouflage works even if it's not matching the environment.
suggestion: raptors spacemarine chapter
Thanks for the suggestion
So we can expect the video soon then?
About when we get another Jurassic Park movie.....heh heh....
The military time system is the normal kind for a European... 😌 Great channel, guys! Keep it up. 🤜🏻🤛🏼
The Daily life of a Tau Firewarrior next please
Yeah we will see if there is lore on this
Standard time, military time, jeez.......there's only a handful of times that really matter: the time you're born, the time you die, the time you get to eat, the time you get to sleep, the time you get paid, the time you get LAID, and 4:20!!!
The way 24 hour time works is by adding 12 hours on after 12AM
Suggestion: The Relictors
I'd kinda like to find out what the normal people of the imperium get up to. Like living conditions on hive worlds, black markets recreation activities etc.
It's not 'military time' it's a twenty four hour clock
We call it military time
OneMindSyndicate, could you make a video about lasguns and their effectiveness against space marine and chaos marine armour?
I just dont see Space Wolves following this
Great video guys I love these type of videos
Thanks
SUGGESTION: Daily life of an ANGRY MARINE!!!!
What if a space marine has itchy balls?!?!
Suggestion: NOIZE MARINES!!
it will be nice to know about well known apothecary in wh40k
We can do a video on that
All work and no play won´t make a Space Marine a dull guy. Hoorah for hypnotic indoctrination (and zero libido)!
But did the Emperor create the Primarchs all at once or one after the other?
He created Lion El’Johnson first. Then they all came one after another.
@@Wowowowowow919 Hey, Thank You! Didn't know that.
KrautGoesWild You’re welcome, and btw nice username lol
Make 40 facts about DAILY LIFE OF CHAOS SM
Suggestion: Guardians of the Covenant Chapter.
Is anyone allowed into the spacemarines fortress monastery?
+Natasel you got it right
Chaplain Thor
Natasel got it right, but you should add chapter-specific stuff, like the watchers in the dark for the dark angels
huh... sounds totally metal...right on
I got a question I didn't see anything on the video list but I think you might have one but I'm not sure but how does one become a Space Marine
Suggestion: connection to the movie “EVENT HORIZON”
So basically, just living the life of a monk in a monastery with weapons n armor
great vid guys. more creepy pastas please
If you're still around I would like to know where you got these references from. Are the actual exerts from stories are they from any codex or game supplement? Could they be from an article printed in white dwarf, or did you just make this up thinking it sounded, great?
Great video how about one on the Chaos Marines daily life
Tanith First would depend on the God they worship.
Tanith First would depend on the God they worship.
Okay
+John McManus we can try and find lore for every god
7:25 Actually it was 328 Hours. Not 328 days. Even a space marine cannot go without sleep and still maintain his sanity for nearly a year. Most likely would be dead long before then. 328 hours is almost 2 weeks [13 days]
I think record in real life is around a week, german Invasion on Poland i think.
Suggestion: Astral Knights
Thanks
Great video as always!
I thought everybody had used a digital clock before it's not just military time
Basically space Catholics
Ancient Catholics
Today's Catholics are just in it for the pancake breakfast
God i wish
Dues vult
Top 10 facts about a 24 HR clock.
Can you please tell me what song did you used at 7:54 ?
Military hours, or just normal time in large parts of the civilized parts of the world.
Get on the 24h clock and metric train already!
Hey could you guys do a daily life of Adepta Sororitas video?
All this lore is mostly fan lore imo, the sectors Humans own are usually almost always attacked by xenos and heretics alike. Maybe they can do this stuff when they are traveling to the sector where the fighting is done and where they are needed but to cycle like this through them is downright impossible considering the military hours plus usually chapters are spread out anyways so it shouldn't take that long for the nearest chapter to answer a distress call from the Imperium that is requesting Space Marine support - speaking for the current timeline. Before the Horus Heresy yea, no problem, I agree with this to be legit in that case.
suggestion: Ork weapons
Actually not all chapters concider the Emporer as a god but some do.
You do know that gw released this back in 1998 in codex space marines 3ed edition
