Laughs in VC3. VC3 really needs a remake on VC4 engine and with proper stages, its story is as good as VC4 while you get more attached to your units outside main 3-4 since removed permadeath (which could be switched for permament stat debuffs on being "killed" etc) allowed creators to flesh them out more and allow them to speak up in main story.
Yeah if you can ignore the lack of helmets and overall armor, Valjyria does a pretty damn good job at emulating the desperation of WW II-era Eastern Europe

Men and women in the Home Army. Women even had their own subversive - sabotage unit DISK. The children served in the scout organization - Gray Ranks. And they all fought for their lives. Because after the massacre of the WOLA district by the Germans, it was obvious that there was nothing to give up. The insurgents literally had three armored vehicles. Some anti-tank weapons. And no air defense. Germans had everything. In 1:43 a rail cannon was shown in the music video. They were used against the Warsaw Uprising. Virtually the Germans made everything they wanted. The uprising was planned for 2 weeks. And it lasted 63 days
Remembering at the time that I watched this great anime and game too, I played several hours and the PSP as well. I feel that love and sorrow of the characters in this war that was based on real life.
This bings back memories, Valkyria Chronicles really touched my heart. Great story and credible characters, the burden of a leader to achieve the mission goals while you want to bring back your men alive. I also had a personal goal in mind: Revenge. I wanted to see Selvaria Bles dead, I hated her so much for killing Marina Wulfstan, but also felt the guilt that it was me who sent her to death. Valkyria Chronicles is a great game, and the anime is a pretty good adaption of it.
Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli Quetzalcoatl shit, I am goi ng to have to forget that second part. Yeah the game is great and I am still yet to beat it. I too am also wishing to bring back my units alive
no spoiler here, Marina just got killed in action as it can happen any time. That was just my personal story ^^ enjoy the game, it also has a really good story later (whcih I won't talk about for spoiler reasons)

Anyway, quick question; if Marina died, then who introduces the Edy detachment sniper challenge?

Play valkyria chronicles, it's a trully awesome experience. I though it will be like "girls und panzer" but what i got was a dramatic, well written war story. One of those stories where you're going to cry on the final credits, whether you like it or not. this war is cruel, even if it's anime
No matter what kind of show or anime I watch, no matter how grim they make it seem or how much blood, grit and death is portrayed, I'll never be able to take it seriously if they've got women who're supposed to be soldiers flitting around in skirts and showing leg and midrift and sporting pigtails.
I will admit, I haven't watched the anime; partly because I still have the game to relive all the great moments of this story, partly because most of my favourite squad members aren't in it (I can understand no Vyse and Aika, but where the hell's Hector? Aside from Largo's he's the best Lancer by a mile!) and partly because I prefer how the game portrays Isara's final scene. After watching this though, I feel I should give it a chance, if only to see what's different.

I find it interesting that the Empire use metal armor. This series is set in an alternate late 30s, if I recall. No one was really using body armor at the time, and certainly not metal. The last metal armor was used sparsely in WW1, and was quickly found to be woefully obsolete. Obviously, this is a fiction, so there may not be much point in comparing, but I wonder what reason the Empire would have for using metal armor so widely? In the video game, most grunts have face plates, which at least makes more sense, but this kind of weaponry can easily pierce any metal plate thin enough to be worn.

Tricky thing about plot armor, it will work, right up until your role in the plot stops...
But then some of them still dies at war.
