Coaches -- In the absence of quality assistant coaches, consider your 2 or 3 best players your assistant coaches. This year I coach twelve 9 and 10 year olds. I have top players * pitch BP * hit fly balls to the outfielders * hit Pepper to infielders. My first round draft pick, who plays P/C/SS is the best assistant coach I could ask for. He knows the game and he has good leadership qualities. When I played in Junior HS and High School, ages 12-17, my coaches empowered me to be an Assistant Coach. It's a harder to put a 9 or 10 year old in that role, but you can do so.
Problem arises when some players pitch and infield, others play outfield and infield, and others pitch and outfield. How do you get all pitchers doing work and not miss out on infield or outfield because they do that also?
Great video, I use group practices and assign each coach a role for season o manage and certain area in which I provide them the practice activities. I feel like this video should be share in every league as part of pre season coach training.
Good to see you for another season brother! I am coaching my son's 12U spring rec team, and I'm all about keeping the kids busy and having fun and getting as many reps in as possible. It's been a little bit tricky getting dads to help me, but I'm gonna keep trying to recruit. Looking forward to another great season and great content from you coach!
Great video.. thank you for all the knowledge.. I played baseball growing up and one year in highschool.. my son is on his 3rd year little league playing minors and me and my friend which his son plays to we are coaching our boys team this year will be first time coaching for us both . We are very excited and nervous lol.. I'm watching all the videos I can to get the most experience..
Hello there I'm starting a 15U travel team here and I'm looking for ideas for recruiting kids to tryout. Also once the team is formed, being an effective and fare coach with all the players. Any advice?? Thanks
I'm learning, hopefully I can do better in the second half of our 12u season. Getting demolished by teams with a handful of travel ball players hasn't been fun....feels like I've got a huge talent gap and baseball IQ gap that I just don't know if I can make up that difference.

Put the bats away. Focus on getting outs. Create chaos on the field with base runners add scenarios, get outs, make it fun. Then let them hit.
