"The Chemical Wedding" is one of the greatest metal albums ever. Tragically overlooked.
You aren't kidding, so good.
Every song is a classic.
Agreed, it's amazing and this song is my favourite from his solo catalogue. So heavy, catchy and melodic and the lyrics are intriguing and great to sing along to.
I would agree with that
It won metal album of the year so i dont know what youre talking about...
Not only is it Bruce, it's Adrian Smith, one of Maiden's guitarists. This album, and its predecessor Accident of Birth are 100% fire. You really can't go wrong with any song on either album. You guys will like them a lot!
The "Tyranny of Souls" album has a lot of good songs on it too.
Both of these albums are actually better than half MAIDEN albums. Huge underestimated albums for the metal community. Songs like chemical wedding,Jerusalem, The Alchemist or Darkside of Aquarius,Accident of Birth,Road to Hell,Omega from the Accident of Birth album.....
@@vladtepes9614 hmmm, that one doesn't ring a bell. Maybe it went under my radar, I'll check it out. Is it the same band?
@@VITINIOTISPHILP I was lucky enough to know a guy that always had connections and he showed me and my buddy an advance copy of AoB, we were bitching about the new Maiden ...
Naturally we both bought it when it came out. The mad puppet motif was circling around quite a bit at the time....
@@syntheticsleep Yep, same band. They even made a video for the song "Abduction".
Bruce Dickinson - darkside of aquarius
Live
I love that song
You’ve got to do Jerusalem from this album!
how about the whole album?
TTT S. I think that would be the best choice ! But idk if they’ll do it
YAAAAAS!
Great fucking song. Great fucking album...every single song is amazing!
I love all of Bruce Dickinson’s solo albums, especially Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding are masterpieces imho., The Chemical Wedding is actually one of my favorite albums of all time, epic from start to finish and the way it starts and the way it ends ties the whole album together in such a brilliant way, so it fits together so well if you listen to the album on repeat...
The Chemical Wedding is one of my top 3 metal albums. They should react to The Alchemist, one of its best songs - or Jerusalem.
BRUCE is a legend. GOAT frontman
Happy Birthday Bruce Dickinson!! Long Live!!
This album is a total Masterpiece 🤘🏽
lol, It's Bruce Dickinson's Birthday!!!!!, Adrian Smith and Roy Z Riffing Here is Just Sick!!!!
Iron Maiden Infinite Dreams
Oh my God you are doing a reaction to Bruce Dickinson solo I'm about ready to cry Bruce has a lot of great music looking forward to Future reactions from him if possible
This shit was 🔥
I dare to say that's one of the best songs ever written. Bruce Dickinson is a genius!
The painting on the cover is called Soul Of A Flea.
This album heavily references the inspired works of the great William Blake.
Adrian from Maiden is all over this album along with cousin Bruce.
Don't underestimate the influence of Roy Z in these albums. How many people know that Roy actually wrote songs for MAIDEN too and never got the credits?
@Arrow HEart You can read the interviews of Roy Z. Same thing happened with Blaze Bayley ,he worked for some songs from Brave New World album.
Roy Z is the one who deserves most of the praise for this album, without whom Bruce's and Halford's solo careers wouldn't have been so successful.
Bruce Dickinson - tears of the dragon
Live Tribuzy version. Love watching Roy Z shred.
Tears of the Dragon really shows off his amazing voice
@@artmathias9725 Fully agree
_Tears of the Dragon (First Bit, Long Bit, Last Bit)_ - 8:20 😁 from *CD One* of *_Shoot All the Clowns_* (1994) and, later, *_Balls to Picasso_** 2005 Extended Edition.*
'The Chemical Wedding' is legit a masterpiece. Bruce did some immense records, 'Tyranny of Souls' is sick too. Majorly overlooked, as is Roy Z who has supported Bruce through many of his records on guitar.
Cool Fact about this Band.., when Bruce Dickinson was approached by Rod Smallwood and Steve Harris about rejoining Maiden in 1999, Bruce asked his band mates, Roy Z(Guitars), Tony Casillas (Bass Guitar) and David Ingraham (Drums) what they thought.., their response, " You have to do it, The World Needs Iron Maiden...." all great classy musicians , originally from Tribe of Gypsies( Roy Z's Band), also the band Bruce used to record his 2nd solo album, Balls To Picasso....
Bruce Dickinson :) Bruce Dickinson - Man of sorrow
The Chemical Wedding is a brilliant album.
Great song,and Happy birthday bruce.
Accident of birth and chemichal wedding albums are full of gems
I think Vin will like most Bruce Dickinson songs, his lyrics are incredible and his knowledge of the occult is seething through it.
Proud owner of every BD solo album, keep in mind Bruce Dickinson left maiden for 10 years..also Adrian Smith is lead guitarist on 2 of his solo albums, that's y u r getting hints of maiden...check out Accident of Birth soon
I got the vinyl box set that came out a few years ago, its one if my most prized possessions
Roy Z was the biggest influence in the Bruce Dickinson solo albums. Songwriter, lead guitarist and producer.
@@Liam-ly8rv no shit,we all know that, but it was also the regrouping of AS and BD..relax youngblood
@@Liam-ly8rv furthermore genius Roy Z was not involved In earlier solo albums..so relax
@@toddenderby5583 Actually he was. He played on the second album Balls to Picasso. After Bruce's dissatisfaction with Skunkworks, he got Roy back. And thanks for the Youngblood comment. C
I am beyond excited that you finally are checking out some of Bruce's solo work. It's amazing stuff, often heavier than Maiden. You should check out a lot of it, starting with Tears of the Dragon, Abduction, Darkside of Aquarius, and Jerusalem/The Tower/Trumpets of Jericho/everything from this album. There are some great live versions of these songs out there too - if you can imagine, this song rocks EVEN HARDER live.
I highly recommend the song "A Tyranny Of Souls" by Bruce Dickinson off of the like named album...his solo work is absolutely awesome, particularly the more recent works including The Chemical Wedding.
I can honestly say my love for his albums rivals that of Maiden's; praise doesn't come any higher than that! lol
Best maiden record period with Bruce and Adrian
This is another song that just makes you headbang whether you want to or not.
Steve Harris was laughing at Bruce's solo effort up until this album, that shut him up for good.
This album is spectacular .. please post more songs from the album .. thanks ... I like your videos !!
Anyone else notice that the "Dark side of Aquarius" chorus could easily fit into this song as well.
Yeah, quite similar songs.
I actually prefer Bruce Dickinson's solo albums (Accident of Birth and Chemical Wedding) to the newer Maiden albums. (still like the newer Maiden albums...just wish they went more in this direction) These two albums were masterpieces
That album is an hidden masterpiece! You have to hear and read it as a WHOLE! Is a concept album about chemistry and very esoteric! Best then a lot of Maiden albuns!
I was looking forward to you two listening to some Bruce Dickinson and I'm glad you've started with one of his best songs! His solo work is all over the place in terms of quality and style, but his late 1990s work is IMO the best metal of the 1990s.
Bruce is tied to the movie The Chemical Wedding (Crowley in the States) which was although many liberties were taken was about Aliester Crowley.
You should do a full review about this album. Really good stuff.
Agreed. This one and the one before it are both great!
I remember grabbing a Kerrang magazine in mid 1999 and that album was still at rank 16, even though it came out about an year earlier. One of the best from the 90's and my personal favourite. So many Bruce Dickinson great songs to react to from that era...
Love Bruce Dickson Solo albums, Some beautiful stuff also on Tyranny of Souls Album FYI
This was way better than anything Maiden was putting out at the time.
IMHO, the tree last albums out of Dickinson's solo output, specially 'The Chemical Wedding', beated the crap out of anything Maiden released in the nineties... and anything after 'Brave New World'.
And I'm not talking just about vocals, here.
The dynamics, songwriting, overall sound and structure of songs like this one are just superb.
For my money, Bruce Dickinson is far and away the greatest lyricist in the history of heavy metal.
This is Bruce's best solo album... and IMO its better than any Iron Maiden album ever released. Plus it features Adrian Smith on guitar along with Roy Z... 10/10 album!
Better than any Maiden album? Let's not get crazy. A Masterpiece for sure though.
@@blatislavduvelask2375 I did speak for myself...that's why it says "IMO"... which means "In my Opinion". You dumb ass.
@@alantinoalantonio See below about what IMO means
@@ErinMercurial a bit touchy aren't we sweetheart
@@alantinoalantonio Not at you, but the other comment has me fired up. I cant stand people that troll comments.
Awesome!! Do Accident of Birth or Chemical Wedding. Bruce has a lot of great solo stuff.
Fantastic choice! Immediate click. One of my favorite albums ever.
Oh My God, this is my favorite song off my favorite album of all time. This album is what got me into Maiden back in 1998. I jam to this album regularly and it never gets old.
Bruce!!! Noice!!! Finally a good reaction!
Trumpets of the Jericho is a good soon too the same album
Well there really ain't any weak songs on this album 🙂
Wow, I was surprised to see you doing this song....I love the solo Bruce albums.
Try King In Crimson.
Great!!! Hands down one of the best albums of metal, musically, lyrically, conceptually! I love playing drums to it! Thanks VinAndSori
I just viewed it 4 times. Currently bringing out all my BD's CD and going to listen.
Have a great few hours listening pleasure there.
Glad and thankfull you did this, but please dont forget to react to more Iron Maiden....you're mising a lot of clasics like "Infinite Dreams"(studio version), "Caught Somewhere in Time or "Where Eagles Dare"
Better than most of Maidens albums. Love this record! Even the bass playing blows Harris out of the water.
What a song this is. Love the riffs, the solos, the lyrics.
One of my favourite songs ever.
So glad you guys did something from The Chemical Wedding! That album is gold, beginning to end. It is one of the most underrated albums ever.
Bruce is awesome!
What a weird time that was. The end of the Bruce era. Dealing with Iron Maiden without Bruce. And above all, dealing with Bruce without Iron Maiden. His creativity in all of the solo albums was mind blowing. Especially with this album. How can you not respect his choices over the years when you listen to his solo albums and songs like these? Awesome reaction to this song, it really shows how good it was and still is. No matter how gutted as a Maiden fan you were, this stuff was pure gold.
It's Bruce and Adrian Smith on this record .
And Roy Z.
Bruce Dickinson, Adrian Smith, Eddie Casillas, Dave Ingraham, and Roy Z which he wrote most of the material with Bruce on this album, Accident of Birth, Balls to Picasso, and Tyranny of Souls.
I never seen you two have so much fun listening to a song.
Bruce was not in Maiden when he did this album and came back one year later in Maiden
I forgot how awesome his solo albums are! Love it!
It's so awesome to see you delve into Bruce's solo career. Vastly underrated. Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding are, arguably, stronger albums then anything Maiden did in the 1990's. A little bit more info, before recording Accident of Birth in 1996, Bruce actually thought his career was over. His album before, Skunkworks, didn't do so well and he thought no body cared about him anymore. It wasn't until Roy Z, one of Bruce collaborators and guitar player on some of Bruce's previous records, got in touch with him, started sending him demos and got Bruce motivated to sing again. Bruce then got Adrian Smith, who was off doing his own thing also, to perform on Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding. Both albums are from start to finish amazing. Really happy to see other people enjoying Bruce's solo works and hopefully you do more
This album blows away more than a few Maiden albums.
I have never heard any of BD's solo stuff but this was a total banger. Great, great song. I notice that the chorus is very similar to "Tears Of A Clown" from Iron Maiden's Book Of The Dead album (but this song would be the original since it's 17 years older). A superb introduction to Bruce. I clearly need to check his stuff out.
For those who don't know, the line "by the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes" is from Shakespeare's Hamlet. This song is epic.
Do phantom of the Opera and murders in the rue morgue. Genghis Kahn and losfer words are good instermintals too.
Yeah, this feels like a Maiden song 'cause you have two thirds of Maiden's writing core on this album. At this time Bruce and Adrian were out of Maiden and this is the second album they did together. Those 2 albums (Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding) were better than the 2 Maiden albums with Blaze Bayley.
"Better than the 2 Maiden albums with Blaze"... Well, what isn't!
Hello!
better than half MAIDEN albums you mean...
@@blatislavduvelask2375 And a lot of other Maiden fans
@@SupertzarMetal Hey!
Oh, this is awesome! I've waited a while for you to get going with this album!
One of the greatest heavy records of the 90s!!!
Killing Floor would be an awesome react, it might just edge out Number of the Beast for me, these 3 solo albums (Accident of Birth, Chemical Wedding & Tyranny of Souls) by Bruce are superb and totally worth checking out.
The Darkside of Aquarius is my all time fav song of all time and I have heard a lot . need to check that one out from Bruce soon!
I was so glad Bruce came back to his roots with his music , after he tried to move away from Maiden style Metal with his first two post Maiden albums. Its funny how both Bruce and Rob Halford moved away from traditional Metal to try something different only to come back to what both these Legends do best .
Happy Bruce tried his solo career, refreshed himself and got back to the roots of job he knows the best: became again part of the best metal machine - Iron Maiden, where he fits the best...howg...
Listen The Chemical Wedding
You guys really need to do "Lord of Light" by Iron Maiden to see Bruce's take on something else...
Hell yeah
Trust me some of Bruce’s solo stuff isn’t the absolute best. But this album and accident of birth are absolutley amazing
This would be a great album to do a straight through listen. Seriously no bad songs, and together they tell a story
King in crimson is amazing too, from the same album
I prefer this album over anything he did with Maiden.
Accident of Birth is a great song
Basically any other song from this album is also 🔥, but if you want something from _another_ album, check out "Darkside of Aquarius". That song, Book of Thel and Tears of the Dragon are my top 3 solo Bruce Dickinson songs.
Dickinson really shines when he goes into the esoteric stuff.
Bruce Dickinson - Arc of Space
Dio - All The Fools Sailed Away (album version)
Black Sabbath - Nightwing
Elf - Carolina County Ball
Dokken - Kiss of Death
Please!
Long live Bruce, long live Iron maiden best metal band ever! Up the Irons 👊
album title: The Chemical Wedding is prolly a reference to: >>Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz
The chemical wedding is a metal masterpiece!!!!
Iron Maiden - Infinite Dreams
Bruce Dickinson's solo work in the 90's went to more Iron Maiden than Iron Maiden.
I had a book from a guy written within the CIA back in the 90's talking about this stuff that was just released. Everyone said he was lying and crazy but I tried the stuff he described in his book and it works.
Which author/book is that? Sounds interesting.
@@ThinkShink It's called Psychic Warrior by David Morehouse
He had some great solo albums. I enjoyed this one and Accident of Birth the most, but there are some solid tracks on all of them (Silver Wings, or Aces High part II, haha). Chemical Wedding is based largely on William Blake's works, by the way!
Roy Z, Bruce's solo career co-composer and producer, is such an amazing, but underrated, guitarist. He also worked with Rob Halford. However he shines more when working with Bruce; it's like Bruce's solo is also his main project. Kinda...
The Book of Thel is a poem by William Blake, dated 1789
Iron Maiden - 22 Acacia Avenue.
Revelations by Maiden & Suicide Nation by At The Gates also both reference the fangs clamped on the spine aka kundalini.
jep jep, bruce is ffing awesome!
You should check Road To Hell from his Accident of Birth álbum. He did it great in his solo years🤘👍... Must add he did it better than Maiden😞
When did Maiden do Road to Hell?
@@alexojeda9048 What???
@@Hellion73 You said he did it better than Maiden. Maiden never did Road to Hell so can I assume that you meant his solo music in general?
@@alexojeda9048 Ahh ok. I meant that Dickinson made better sounding albums than Maiden back then, as a whole.
@@Hellion73 Gotcha!!! Agreed.
react bruce dickinson chemical wedding!
Jerusalem next! This album is outstanding but not at the same of level of best iron maiden album like powerslave or seventh son! Of course Adrian and Bruce are great here but Steve Harris is real genius of iron maiden for me!
This record is for me in the top 5 metal albums of all time. The only 3 albums I can think of that could be ahead of The Chemical Wedding are: Iron Maiden's Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (favourite album ever), Dream Theater's Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory and Demon's And Wizards' self titled one.
And honestly apart from SSOASS the others are constantly switching positions. 5th position would probably be Imaginations From The Other Side (Blind Guardian), The Dark Saga from Iced Earth or Paradise Lost's The Plague Within.
The music also has some hints from Maiden, because the guitarist is Adrian Smith, a Maiden original. ;)
Gojira - "The Heaviest Matter in the Universe" from one metal fan to two others. Much love from PA
I've never heard a breakdown like this of any bruce lyric before. Nice going. Mad intense
Great reaction guys! Thank you.
