I've got an ongoing s13 project I'm completely rebuilding, and you sir are going to make this job so much easier when I get around to doing it myself! Keep the videos coming, props from England!
Love seeing your videos. I've been messing around with tube my tube bender for about a summer now with no previous experience. I wish I had found your videos before haha. Its wicked seeing people take the time to make videos as instructional as yours. Keep it up man.
I've been waiting for this series since I first discovered you. Actually, that's what I was searching for, a broad but detailed how to on tube chassis. Didn't have much luck in that original search. So far though, your series is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks in advance. My Z31 is getting a tube chassis in the spring! That is, if the series is over by then ;)
+The Fabricator That's what I ment, front tube chassis. Same scenario as you said, front end damage + older car equals tainted title... I'm more curious how you got the pic up headlights mounted, only thing really stumping me at this point.
Haha.... Trade secrets... It will actually be shown in the video. This build actually marks the first time in 15 years I have installed popup headlights and a factory hood latch to a tube chassis instead of hood pins. The really awesome part about this build is you can't tell there is any modification to the front end unless the sheet metal is off, or the hood is up. It was pretty tricky to build, but it's pretty awesome.
+Twenty 4 Seven SQUAD I definitely love what I do. It's a lifestyle. As soon as everything here clears out, I'll get in touch with you if you're still interested in a harness bar. Everything has gone way over on time recently, so I'm almost caught back up.
Some great tips and helpful advice. Planning to build a track mx5 (miata) and using vids for inspiration. Just getting into this one and it ended :-( . Cant wait for next installment.
bro, you gotta do something about the music segways, it scares the shit out of me every time, its soooo loud compared to the rest of the videos... i watched the rollbar videos at 4am, my whole house shook, my family was not happy... :D
Love the videos. I know this is what racecar guys do a lot. In reality, what are the advantages in doing a tube front? Do you think there is a weight reduction in such a conversion? Thanks in advance.
+brad glasgow THe primary advantage is strength and rigidity. Some builds will absolutely reduce weight, while others will add a little, but be far stronger. This build was calculated to only add only a few pounds. Its close to even. Some builds will add a bunch of space under the hood which is great for managing other mods. Some builds will take much of that space away (just like this one with the wheel tubs). Above all, the purpose is to add strength and rigidity to the front end while reducing the amount of material.
so you bring up something my friend and i have been concerned about. We have a 72 s30 chassis and my friend wrapped it around a pole. Frame rails are more crooked than forest gump in the beginning of the movie. But measuring it on another chassis its straight from the firewall back. We were planning on using a c4 vette rear and a sectioned c5/6 front k member for the bring. Would bent rails on a unibody really kill it for good even if they are cut out and replaced?
+WebdevShooters That's a tough question without being there to take some measurements, but at the end of the day, the only thing that will verify is a Frame Machine. If you were planning on working up a new chassis from scratch, like a tube chassis, there should be little problems since only a body shell is typically used.
So if the chassis is crooked, it's logical to first straighten it and only then do all this, right? Twice the work, but I can't bring myself to throw the shell away.
+EarlyCommodoreClubTV I'm pretty well versed with the Metric system, but I can't think right when I try to measure or calculate something metric. I always have to convert it in my head when making references haha.

+BLACK ANVIL GARAGE Thanks! Always good to know the vids are being watched and used.

+1dickycat This is just the front section of the chassis, but it will all be uploaded and posted by Spring time.

+The Fabricator Well from the finished shots of her, she looks sick as hell man! No longer just a front end, but a straight up work of art!
+1dickycat Thank you!
love your videos. after watching them, I will attempt to cage my s14.5 and tube the front end all on my own
+Ryan Kim Go for it! Let me know how it goes for you!
Thinking seriously in doing the same on a Toyota Corona 85.
Writing from Peru. Congrats.
+Richard Mamani Thanks for writing in! If you end up building, I'd love to see the progress.
Hey bro, I really love watching your video, I'm from Guatemala, I'm learning from you.

+Neil Johnson I do send out links a few days in advance to viewers who donate either here on RUclips or on the website.

+Novak Nikolic I just want to make sure nobody nods off haha.
I'm working on normalizing the audio on the videos, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Mate you are skilled
+Ratted bug Thank you!

What size tubing did you use?

Imperial measurements hurt my brain....

Fair enough mate. Down here metric is mainly used.... :o)
