  • "Why do I have glare after cataract surgery? Why is my pupil not round? Why did my eye change color after cataract surgery?" Dr. Tokuhara discusses iris damage after cataract surgery performed by another surgeon, and how he corrects it.
    In this video, a case example of a patient who had cataract surgery two years ago by an outside surgeon came to Dr. Tokuhara for a second opinion consultation. How is this fixed?
    Complications from cataract surgery are not the norm. Fortunately, many complications, such as iris damage, can be remedied.
    Dr. Tokuhara specializes in complex cataract surgery and anterior segment repair. He has a private cataract surgery practice in Rancho Mirage, California.

    Yes my eye surgery was botched here in New Zealand. I have narrow angle closure and the first surgeon didn't put a suture in as a precaution for the narrow angle and it prolapsed. Extreme glare and eye ache.

    I found out from my original ophthalmologist that I might have Iris and pupil atrophy. She said that it’s been written in my roof report, but none have mentioned it in the last year I’m going to my six cornea specialist and hopefully he’ll talk about it. I’m very disappointed as I had a cornea transplant and cataract surgery at the same time. I had a detatched cornea after the doctor told me to use ketalorac. I had a cataract surgery and my other eye, six months earlier and mention to another doctor that ketalorac causing my cornea to swell. That doctor and his supervisor said it was impossible. I wish I had listen to my instincts. . Originally they were supposed to do the cateracts and the cornea separate but another surgeon came in and said that they did it all the time for Fuchs dystrophy. The glare is horrible and people look gray. Yes, the lights coming behind them my eyesight is still foggy.

    Sorry for the previous post. I used voice. I also see a streak of light to the right and a triangular light to the left. I had YAG laser surgery and now there are starbursts at night. I am close to being legally blind my other eye. Its very frustrating, as I went kayaing often and was very active. I see why their are so many vision impaired people in America. Plus, the way people view the blind. The Light House in my city pays $7.85 an hour to put pens and markers together. Other assembly work pays $10. Who can live on that? Sorry for the rant. I wish that I could see you.

    Do the sutures last a life time or have to be redone after a period of time??

    Following cataract surgery last month here in the UK, two days ago my opthalmist told me that the surgeon had messed up the procedure and my vision in that eye was worse; he's urgrntly referred me to a specialist as it's likely I need a cornea transplant...
    I'm beyond livid.
    It was a harrowing experience at the culprit's hands in thr first place and now the news that he botched it up! I've complained to the offending clinic and am pursuing whether I can sue the wretched man.

    I got cataract surgery in both eyes , first one was excellent and have great vision only need glasses for reading , I was hoping for the second to turn out the same , I had some syncehie in the second eye and had a little iris tissue loss, the vision is still very good but I really struggle with glare in the second eye in sunlight , I’ve had iritis on and off for 20 years i’am 40 years old , l have spoke to my surgeon who l must say has been brilliant about a suture to reduce the glare , he’s not so keen because of the bouts of uveitis I’ve had , , both eyes have been quiet since the surgery over a year ago in one eye and 2 years in the other , I’ve a 4mm pupil in my left and close to 8 mm egg shape in my right ,Is there any way or anything you can suggest in my case , should l go for the suture ? Would it help ? Any info I’d be grateful

    Iris damage can be prevented or lessened but it's sometimes inevitable. You acting as if it's somehow always a results of the surgeons ineptitude is going to bite you in the ass eventually.

    Why do u use the word 'BOTCHED' only for Cataract surgery..why not use it for all other surgeries as well...Just to sensationalize the topic or Media attention...

    • @Speyeglass
      @Speyeglass Год назад

      Botched is an understatement. Put about an inch ribbon of Vaseline in one eye. Thats how I often see in my right eye. My left eye is often hazy like a dirty windshield. The glare is horrible and fluorescent lights are horrible. Streaks of light at night. I cant drive as the vision is distorted.
