My local WHSmith had 3 self checkouts added in around 2012, and they still use the old default NCR software. They're due an upgrade to the new system as whenever I go in there at least 1 is broken.
The NCR Self Checkouts At ASDA In Gloucester Are The Most Useless Things Ever, They Tell U To Put Ur Item In The Bagging Area When Its Literally In The Bagging Area, It Always Declines My Card, It Also Prints U A Recipt Even If U Say No

Are they the hybrid till format seen in this video or are they the standard R5 design (like the alcampo or M&S machines seen in this video)
@@NCHLT They're the standard R5 design, but I've been to other Smiths near me which have hybrid ones.

with the necter card when you go sainsburys, (if you actually got one) you dont have to swipe it, you can scan it. it has a barcode on the back..
I swiped because the barcode is too worn for the scanners to detect
