Absolutely fantastic and useful video. I was not aware of this and had such a big problem while trying to use a 5.5mm diameter WB implant in upper right first molar region. It was my first ever case of a BLX implant, and neither did the company rep , nor the local straumann office helped me in the healing abutment selection and I wish I had seen your video first. I'll look into your other videos, and if you don't have, kindly make one on abutment selection for the straumann BL or Tissue Level (SP) implant systems. Keep up the good work.
Thnks for info first of all! What about customized abutment ?I usually go until 4.1 We don’t need to palace 5.5 implants! It means u want to avoid too Much the bony defects in 3D dimensional space. And most important specially for single implant placement u would never preserve the crestal interproximall bone level… I think it’s a good Implant at the end but it works only in the good minds ‘set implantologist.
Hi Dr. I am a patient and your opinion is very helpful to me. I had two implants Straumann BL Roxolid SLACTIVE size 4.1* 10 mm In the lower jaw less than a month ago and still waiting for screw retained crown procedure, my question which is the most appropriate healing abutment which I should use or rather should be used by the lab? Waiting for your reply. My deep thanks and gratitude.
Considering the decades long predictability of Straumann systems, what are the indications to even use the BLX system? Seems that it has not been thought out technically and more expensive.
Thank u for this very useful info.May I ask if instead of a RB/WB healing abutment, a WB healing abutment is used right in the beginning for a WB implant, can the above problem be eliminated? Thanks for your very very useful videos
Yes, if you use a WB healing abutment, that would eliminate the problem and allow you to use any of their prosthetic components (WB, RB/WB, Bridge) without an issue. Just remember that the WB components can only be used on the 5.0, 5.5, and 6.5 implants.
I have a similar problem in the lab when creating a soft tissue model. Because of the slender emergence profile for the WB impression posts, the soft tissue ends up covering part of the platform. This becomes a problem when we get the designed abutment back and need to fit it in the model. Why, oh why, did Straumann design the impression post like this if everything else for the WB system covers the whole platform?!
Hi There, So I am going to be restoring a Straumann BLX 5.5 x 10 mm which currently has a 6 x .75 x 4mm healing abutment present, what will be the best impression coping to use?
That is a WB healing abutment, so you will want to use a WB impression coping. Closed tray: 065.4810. Open tray: 065.0032 (short) or 065.0034 (long). You can find them at this link: shop.straumann.com/us/en_us/Prosthetic-Solutions/BLX-/For-Wide-Base-%28WB%29-Implants/Impression-Components-WB/c/cat_stmn_imprcomponents_wb
Hi Alex, can you confirm if the clinical basal screw for Variobase on BLX is the same as for TLX? Although Straumann mentions different REFs 065.0036 (BLX) vs 036.3110 (TLX), I see no difference. Thx in advance!
Why always straumann complicate the procedures ,just give me a reason not to make some united accesories as other brands, specially if we know well that the hight success rate with the famous strauman implant is due to other details
I have come back to this video so many times ... THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much. I would never think that this would be an issue! I wasn’t aware of this critical difference between the two parts!
Glad we could provide some useful information to you!

We're so glad you found the video helpful! Sorry to hear about the frustration you experienced with your first BLX case - you are not alone!
surely they could have made it much simpler. i was considering the blx seriously but i am glad i saw this video.
Priceless gems. Many thanks.
You're welcome!
Great Video! Thanks for recording this. Will make our lives easier 😜

Your doctor would need to decide which healing abutment is most appropriate for you
How are your implants after 1 year? Any side effects?
Thank you for the info- much appreciated!
What a nightmare, excellent video

We have wondered the same thing
awesome tip thank you
Helpful but one more reason to do tissue level or hybrid implants! Especially since there is a TLX now!
Very useful video. Thank you

Yes, those screws share the same geometry. The only difference is the packaging.
How do I know my doctor put the straumann brand from Switzerland instead fake one .
You can ask your doctor to provide you with that information!
So if there isn’t bridge healing abutments around, putting a WB will be a better option for splinted restoration?
If a bridge is going to be made, WB healing abutments can be used in place of bridge healing abutments.
Thank you for the excellent präsentation
You are welcome!
I like your videos!
Thank you!
😊i have this implants .. 4 in total
So frustrating
Cost same then why?! No sense atall. He is a crook
While this video is helpful and good this system is not.... no thanks straumann
Looks like this brand is too confusing. I'll go with Nobel Biocare instead

Go To NYU Hospital and don't listen anymore for dental crooks
