  • In this video, we look at mazes and labyrinths, with reference to the fictional examples of the library in Umberto Eco's 'The Name of the Rose' and the Mines of Moria in J. R. R. Tolkien's 'The Lord of the Rings'.

Thanks for sharing. I know the feeling you’re talking about. One summer, as a young boy 8 or 9, I wandered into the woods behind the school my father was an assistant principal at. He was doing some paperwork and I was bored so I went exploring for a few minutes, or so I thought. There were many paths and I got turned around. After about an hour, I thought I found the path I had entered but ended up hiking across a field to a road and then 3 miles back to the school where my dad who was the assistant principal had been searching for me for a few hours. Never forgotten that feeling and shock of thinking I found the path I came from just to find out I was far from it. It has served me well as a life lessons. Btw as a Boy Scout leader training , my team beat a team of Army soldiers in land navigation because I was careful to note landmarks, heed directions and careful count my steps so it had a practical impact as well as me metaphoric!

Loved that movie and one reason was that library.

It's a bit difficult to hear you over the music.

I very much like your videos, it would maybe be a good idea to invest in a good mic with now 10k subscribers 😉

Maybe you could amp up the voice a bit. It’s hard to hear you. Great content though!!
