I'm honestly impressed with the amount of SYNERGY IN THIS BUILD. It just fits so well. Lightning Launcher + Sharpshooter + sneak attack + assassinate can make you one of the best snipers EVER. And the versatility of both classes meshes really nicely as well. (thank you for the inspiration, gotta make another character based on that build mwhahaha)
Should be an honorable mention for Ranger for Black Manta. Wouldn't be as good as the Rogue/Artificer combo certainly, but he has arguably the most clear example of Favored Enemy and Favorite Terrain of any character you've built so far.
Tulok loving on the Rogue/Artificer mix is great. It makes me love my back up character Fritz Stone (Warforged Inquisitive Rogue/Infiltrator Armorer with the Investigator background and a personality that's a mix of a Nick Valentine and the Harley Quinn version of Commissioner Gordon) even more. Sidenote for any of my other Rogificier out there, not all of us have to wear heavy armor like Black Manta. Make your arcane armor studded leather so your advantage isn't just used to cancel our disadvantage.
Or get half plate and take medium armor master. The only reason I didn't do that is I happened on mithril plate before we got an ASI. Armorer/Mastermind as a captain nemo pre-nautilus
When Armorer artificer came out this was basically how hyped I felt about playing.......... You know that thing were Tulok does not remake characters just cause new material came out like War machine or Supergirl......whelp here is a great start to Batman just use Inquisitive Rogue and unarmed fighting, you are pretty close
nice build and a character I made with black manta as a inspiration unironically has basically the same build, only difference is that she took the swashbulker rogue arctitype instead of assassin since she's a smuggler in universe and I agree: Infiltrator armor and rogue is a disgustingly good combo xD
This is one of those builds where everything works both thematically with the character, and mechanically with each other. The only thing is this would absolutely wipe the floor with the Aquaman build.

Now, since Dark Matter allows some backgrounds to start out from a planet as advanced as modern earth (so no space travel and all that), I had the idea of making Elvis, basically, with the idea of a monk/bard multiclass since Elvis was a performer and knew karate.
Glad the armorer rogue is getting some love. I've been playing one for half a year now (as a captain nemo build) and artificer plus rogue is basically broken as a skill monkey. Also Infiltrator armor+rogue is *chefs kiss*
Here's my guess pre watch. Some kind of armorer multiclass. I wasn't expecting this multiclass. I play this multiclass up to level 14 in a game I've been in for 2 years. That make me more confident in my build.
I had thought a dip of artificer would be cool on rogue but had no idea how much they synergize together, especially with armorrer's launcher wish infiltrator still let you hide the armor under clothing like the UA, would be perfect for a more general assassin who uses the disguise kit but always wants to be armored.
Since the VA for Azula was cast as the BBEG for The Legend of Vox Machina, I’m trying to figure out her build, and how it would differ from Iroh and Zuko. With her perfectionism, having the Monk proficiency in all saves seems like a must. But would she be a Paladin for her Oath of Glory, or would her visions of her disembodied mother count as (unknown patron) Warlock?
Personally, for Zuko I would have built a 13 draconic sorcerer/ 7 redemption paladin. For Azula I would change the subclasses to pyromancy and conquest

Meanwhile, she honed her body to beyond perfection in Lighting Bending, Disciplined her soul to the point Toph couldn’t tell she lied, preferred actions over words, and saw challenges as simple tests. Also, while she likely won’t get that far in the subclass, Glory does get flame strike, protection from energy, enhance ability… Their levels also get peerless athlete (she keeps up with Aang), and she travels quickly with her companions.

Niiice, these intriguing, unusual mechanical combos are what I like to see most in your videos. Lightning Launcher's "Ranged Weapon" classification opens up a lot of interesting options. Feel like I wanna add Elven Accuracy in there, for the 3x advantage Sharpshooter that can be triggered by rogue bonus actions, just to make sure you never miss.
Aquaman gets a lot of flack, but he has some of the toughest villains out of any hero's rouges gallery. Something else of note is that Black Manta is a pirate captain and has a ship and a crew of thugs (hired pirate rouges) on hand for backup when he needs them.
The image of a silent assasin in full plate, dipping in and out of water, basically teleporting due to the insane speed and face-blasting people from 300 ft away is hillarious and I need it in my campaign.
Still think the biggest fuckup they made in the Aquaman movie was making the irredeemable asshole who just develops a vendetta by coincidence the black guy, while the misguided and misunderstood tragic villain who just needed to experience love for the first time in his life was not only white and a fascist wannabe world conqueror, I'm pretty sure he was blond too
I mean, Black Manta is black in the comics and an irredeemable asshole. I suspect that making him white wouldn't have gone over well. Also I am fairly sure that he was still written sympathetically since Aquaman's own actions create Black Manta.

Jesse Faden also has high mobility, massive burst damage, and is great with a gun. And she's also pretty good at tracking down people, places, and objects.
If I were going to play a character in an ocean themed setting, this would be my go-to build. This is such an awesome build in general, but the "weakness" is that most DMs seem to shy away from water unless it's a brief trip to a coastline or a verbal explanation of "and then they sailed for weeks on the ocean and now we're there without any issues." But hey, sub out any aquatic themed components of the build for something relevant to you and this is still an absolute boss of a build. Artificers are a ton of fun to play, and apparently Rogue Artificers are fun AND deadly. You have to love this.
The most dangerous blanket might have a funny hat in some interations, but he is still a high tech warrior who is capable to give the fish-goy Himbo a run for his money as a militar pro. The bad guys have quite the suit, but black manta's battlesuit is something that can withstand the pressure of even the society, no wonder he is a bad guy!Tulok making quite the fine build for the man who stole the black pearl... no the ship, but i would like to see a Tangle the lemur from him soon, hopefully with less vendettas considering how David Hyde have a particular vendetta against that defender of the innocent, protector of the weak, and all around good guy aquaman, who share similar moral alignment (and brain cells count) with her.
