:-D
LOL. Thank you for watching.
Your instructor is right. What I was saying is that when you are flying a heavy aircraft with no hydraulic (assist), you may need to use two hands occasionally (especially during rotation or flare) as the controls are very heavy to move one-handed. For small singles like your trainer you should do just like your instructor tells you.
Thank you. Believe or not if you were to fly one in real life you would see/hear almost exactly the same interaction.
On the to do list for the future. Thanks for visiting.
This is crazy that you can talk to real people :)
nice work, I do have a similar setup for practice, though I use Vatsim on occasion. One thing you can do in FSX is make the runway lighting more realistic by adding new keys that control runway lighting (search this out in Google). The best value to use will be 0.1. I suspect the very bright runway lighting is to assist beginning pilots find the runway at night, and for those of us having flown at night, we know runways are difficult to see especially over populated areas.
Thank you for the tip and yes, I understand exactly what you mean. In real life the runway edge lights are a LOT dimmer than FSX.
Learned a thing or two from IFR! Thanks, subscribed :)
Thank you!
This is the coolest thing ever.
...
Do a barrel roll!
Yes but only cover a very small region. VATSIM, although staffed by volunteers, covers the world. I've been on PilotEdge and on VATSIM and I much prefer VATSIM even though their client software is old. The free pricetag is an added bonus. My flight school also recommends VATSIM.
I am not sure about 4 screens but on our sim, we are using one graphics card to comfortably drive 3 screens + 6 Saitek FIPs with very nice frame rates and fluidity.
great video!!
Several areas of recommended change to your communication procedures. When calling ground to tell them you are ready for taxi, it is recommended to tell them you are IFR.....,same thing on when you contact the tower when ready for takeoff. You should tell them you are IFR and the destination. I never saw or heard you get the frequency change from the tower to go to departure? You are supposed to stay with the tower until either instructed to contact departure or after a short time ask if you should contact departure. Otherwise, I didn't watch the whole flight but it was a good demo of the software and hardware. You might want to check out a good book on the history and use of flight simulators; "Teaching Confidence in the Clouds".
Thanks, Tom CFII
Tom,
Thank you for the comments. I would like to preface this and state that this was NOT intended to be an instructional video on IFR flight, IFR communications, or procedures. We merely wanted to highlight the POTENTIAL of the Volair Sim cockpit as a training tool in conjuction with PilotEdge. You could see that we also did not use any checklists (a major no-no), edited out bunch of things in interest of time including some of the communications in the interest of time. So, I hope that people view it ONLY as a video that show can you, with proper instruction, use the cockpit to become a better more proficient pilot.
Well for a heli you would need to mount the cyclic somehow (which you could use the center mount for) and the collective (which guess you would have to mount to the left plate). So it would depending on your controllers and whether they could mount to the mounts on the cockpit.
In this video we are using FSX with an addon for Southern California - MegaScenery X.
Love how he said `real` ifr
As real as it gets,LOL!
I'm a Commercial Pilot but know I give IFR Simulator Lessons but I want to expand my simulator with 3 screens more, with one CPU is enough to connect at least 4 screens? Do you know If the speed of the simulator decrease with 4 screens?
i need help to go throught the setting to set up the GPS keyboard pad i have put the sticks on to it
how did you go about programming the push to talk i tried and i was told my mic was stuck on when i pushed it
Cool man thanks I'll give it a try if I'm issues ill comment back. I hope it works.
Why pay money for a human air traffic controller when you can just use VATSIM for free?
If he had, he might not have had ATC during that video. The premise of subscription based services is to provide value over the free version. See the comments further down to learn about some of the differences,or read the site.
I totally agree! I have been flying on VATSIM for many, many years. True, there are no guarantees that a specific airport will be staffed from Clearance Delivery all the way up, then Center after departure, but it doesn’t take too much searching to find a staffed airport! There is absolutely no way I would ever use a pay service when VATSIM has always worked very well for me! Just my opinion.
thekidfromnyc My few experiences with vatsim were "useless". Clearances were "cleared as filed", "Cleared for the approach" , ground control instructions were "taxi to the active" getting tower only when wanting to get approach control. It's a joke. I'll try again at some point but I've been disappointed on multiple sessions
Specifically, Radeon 6770 - it is an old card so would not recommend you get it. Also, nVidia seems to be better for FSX which is what we use. Any mid-level card will work as long as it has triple monitor output (most do).
hey question how did you set the yoke as the push to talk key? Ive been trying and trying to use that instead of the keyboard. Is there any way I can do it?
Hello, you have to map the key to a key (like the ~). We use a shareware program joy2key but there are many other alternatives. Hope this helps.
Yes i have, I'm starting a ppl licence and my instructor always said to keep 1 hand on the yoke and 1 on the throttle, our plane had no hydraulics just 'levers'. Not that heavy and I'm 14
How much did all that cost? (excluding the PC screens, mouse and keyboard) Just the flight stuff?
Hey Jay,
In this video we are using FSX with an addon for Southern California - MegaScenery X.
When Gulfstream and a NASA-funded research firm wanted to conduct an ATC exercise, any guesses which network they elected to use? Perhaps it was because they needed a realistic radio system, or guaranteed coverage 15x7. Maybe those cats do have a clue after all. It's fine to say that VATSIM and PE are different and have different goals, but if you're going to say it's 'much better' and 'much more professional', expect some resistance.
That was awesome
Brilliant!
Please visit our web-site and go to the FAQ page where we tell you exactly the costs and where to get ALL of the accessories. There is a PDF document that you can download with all of the information about every single accessory.
pLESAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE tell me how can i get all the stuff which u have to fly this kind of simulator, i want to set up like this at home
this must be very fun to do
do you use a usb power port if do what is it called and where did you get it from ?
Honestly, any quality USB powered hub will work. Tip: Saitek seems to work best with USB 2.0 NOT USB 3.0 at least in our tests. Hope this helps.
We are using FSX with some add-on scenery called Mega Scenery
wow much did the wole set up cost?
Could anyone tell me what software/simulator is this? thanks!
We are using a mid-level Radeon card with triple monitor out.
what video card are you using?
why did you zoom out when you were doing the talking to air traffic control?
P.S. good video
Honestly, this was shot with a Fuji 3800 - I know we need to upgrade our Video production dept ;-)
Nice vid, just feel the need to point out after maintaining on tower until handed over to departure you were cleared to 3000 until further cleared to 6000, the fact that the ATC controller did not correct you on this tells me either the controller would make a grave mistake along side you or ATC in this video is fake an not truly a real controller of any kind.. 3000 is important when you bust thru that assigned altitude and crash into aircraft cleared down to 4000 approaching airport. FYI commercial corporate pilot
Good catch! You also note that the video does not show tower instructing us to contact departure (which they did) - I think we paused the camera after t/o and when ATC contacted us again with the instructions, we did not restart filming in time. Regardless, as I pointed out earlier, this is NOT meant to be an instructional video but rather a video to show you the POTENTIAL of our Volair Sim cockpit as a training aid. We omitted a lot of stuff (e.g. using checklists) in the interest of showing you how the hardware and voice works together. I suppose would be nice to have a flight instructor do a video showing the cockpit in use "by the book." Challenge to our customers; many of them are flight instructors, LOL.
The ATC is coming from PilotEdge.net - nothing fake here although they did not catch my mistake. I suppose you can say controllers make mistakes too or he did not feel this error was significant for correction since he was gonna have us climb to 6000 anyway and we did not yet go through 3000. Great example how when you are being distracted in the cockpit (by me explaining everything to the viewers) it is easy to make a mistake.
Is this compatible with helicoptersimulator?
What software are you using?
wow nice man
What for a PC do you have got ?
Please make a cool helicopter version.
What kind of gpu and cpu are you using. Looks like lots of fun
Hello... We are using an i5 CPU and a GeForce GTX 760 right now and getting excellent frame rates with FSX with 3 27" monitors.
I want to build one or order one can you please give me tips or a website where I can get the accesories
Hello Salman, go to our website www.volairsim.com and go to FAQ page. There you will see a document that shows the names and prices of the components (sold by other companies) that work with our cockpit. I hope that this helps.
very nice
very nice setup , I have a CH product Flight sim yoke , I'm thinking about buying the Saitek throttle , some people told me that it wont work without its yoke , is that true ?
Mahmood, Saitek has (or at least used to have) a standalone throttle quadrant that plugs to USB port. This way, you would not need a Saitek yoke if you just wanted to use their throttle quadrant. The reason people tell you you need the yoke is that they bought the yoke/throttle combo which has a different plug for the throttle quadrant (it plugs into the yoke). But again, if you buy just the throttle quadrant, it will just plug into USB. You can even get more than 1 for multi-engine setups. Hope this helps.
it should work
Noooo you cut the best part, landing! I loved the jazz track what was it? :)
amazing amazing !! I watched the whole thing
great setup bro, can u tell more about it ?
You have all this but no trackir?
Good point! TrackIR works really well especially in combat. Would make a good addition.
Ever flew a heavy single, twin, or any aircraft with no hydraulics? I challenge you to flare with one hand only.
Look, we have no financial interest/relationship with PilotEdge but I think it is a different level than VATSIM IMHO. I have never experienced anything BUT highly professional staff at PilotEdge so do not understand your comment. These are professional, paid controllers.
It is an i5 with a mid-range video card.
Hello,Im watching country TURKİSH :):):)
where you get the Monitor And instrument stand ?
www.volairsim.com
Volair Sim How do i buy
slender169101
You can get the chassis at www.volairsim.com and there is a document in the FAQ section of our web-site that talks about all the accessories used and CPU recommendations.
Cool
Cool men i want that :)
Check out our web-site FAQ page where we have a PDF document that shows you exactly how much every component costs. The chassis itself is $549.
amazing setup
but why use xplane :(
Why not use VATSIM?
I was saying for the online sense because he went on a tangent about it at the begining I didnt care about the rest
Disclaimer: I work with PilotEdge.
He might've elected to fly on PilotEdge rather than VATSIM because he wanted to ensure there would be ATC online throughout his entire flight. Or perhaps he wanted to highlight the utility of the Saitek avionics, showing how easy it is to execute frequency changes. You get more freq changes on PE than on VATSIM because VATSIM freq changes are based on the # of controllers that are present, whereas PE freq changes are based on sector boundaries regardless of the number of controllers that are present. clnc/ground/tower/app/app/app/twr/gnd is a typical PE freq pattern, whereas a similar flight on VATSIM might just be a single center freq for the whole flight.
***** If he were to execute that flight between the same airports at 8am, 2pm and 10pm PST on Mon, Wed and Fri morning on IVAO, every week for a month, what % of those flights would have full ATC coverage on IVAO? On those flights, how many frequencies would he need to look up from real world sources? How many freq changes would he receive enroute? Perhaps you could explain why IVAO is "better", other than not costing anything.
I hate to comment but never have 2 hands on the yoke One hand on the Yoke and another on the Throttle is how its meant to be in real life.
are you an actual ATP?
Nope. I am a licensed pilot but not an ATP.
jesteś prawdziwym pilotem?
You didn't even land what the hell
Zgadza sie ;-)
How to you look around?
using a head tracking system like Track IR or Free track
Using a hat switch on the yoke is what we used.
Volair Sim Ok cool. I just bought a joystick so now I would know for myself too. I don't like controlling the view with the hat switch though.
It looks and sounds exactly the same
Are you a real pilot ?
VATSIM is much better than PilotEdge and it's free with world-wide coverage. Operating hours vary (volunteer basis) but much more professional than these cats at PilotEdge... The ZJAX artcc (where I live) is mostly manned by real world ATC..
You need Oculus VR Glasses! Check them out!
Would even be useful though
sounds like a kid controlling the tower...
i want the radio panel!
These are pretty inexpensive and work really well. Saitek makes it. All these components in the video are made by Saitek (except pedals which are made by CH products) as Volair Sim is factory pre-drilled to work with all Saitek components.
i know (i had the old rudder pedals and these old yoke system) but i recommend you the saitek pro flight cessna rudder pedals because these are bigger and you can brake with each of the pedals and you should buy the saitek`s cessna yoke system because these yokes are very precise and you can turn the yoke with 90° to left and right (these are licensed products of cessna aircraft company
i have already the mulitpanel and switch panel and now the radio panel is just missing ;D
tombmaster972 Me too, just started Pilot Edge and love flying GA now, but I need Radio panel! :D
come fly IL2, iam 54th hashashin
I think it's flight sim x
haaaaahaaaaa wher is the landing crash ????? :D
oh yes, and the vast majority of the hundreds of paying subscribers at PE know about VATSIM....yet they elect to pay for PE. Just sayin'.
LOL. And they talk just like the real FAA controllers too.
If he had Oculus than it would be pointless to have all that other crap sitting in front of him, lol!
but how are u going to manipulate with all of that stuff like radios, jepp maps, checklists etc.?
I like this setup so I bought both the cockpit and the panel. I have a Saitek yoke that is really troublesome to use, so I bought a CH yoke. But the CH yoke does not fit anywhere on this setup. I notice you are using a Saitek yoke. You seemed to have it working. Did you modify it or are there any settings adjustments that make it work? Is there any hardware that could be added to get the CH yoke to work? Thanks.
Help me to install the switch panel? The one with buttons and landig gear. Please help
What is wrong with this panel? There is not much to installing it: either use the Logitech drivers or use SPADNeXT which is a program that lets you program all these panels.
@@volairsim first i tried with Logitec drivers donwloaded from official page. But Notting appends.
Then i download xpadnet(trial version). But only the buttons from the tup was working. I unistall everything i start over with the 2 options but nothing. If you can help me I'll appreciate a lot.
I have issue with switch panel.
How do you install it
does this comes w screens to?
bro check this video game out simulator on pc u can do it hint hint DCS: F/A-18C Hornet, Episode 3: Preflight, Startup, Taxi and Takeoff
im buying it
show the ipad tutorial please.
why are u stopping me from downloading this video im gonna buy it anyway snff
where did u get the pad for simulator and what application u use for that?
We recommend free app called FltPlan Go. Get it form Apple App store.
i can do 30 minutes
what do u call that red numbers re on whats then ame of the box in one word let me know please please let me know asap rockie
These are Radio Panels and Logitech (formerly Saitek) makes them. You can get these from Amazon. Search for Logitech Pro Flight Radio Panel
where do u get the ipad does it comes w it and were do u get those 250 feet buttons controll stuff im learning how to become a pilot
fuck car license if i cant then im doing this
Really cool sim buddy! Have you ever thought about upgrading to full motion? We offer very affordable 6DOF Motion solutions. PM for more info if you’re interested!
Why would you need to turn the fuel pump on for takeoff in a C-210? I'm not saying you shouldn't; I'm really asking why. :)
hello, I with Xplane 10 can not operate the radio panel, the autopilot panel and the landing gear panel ...... also does not work no dial that indicates horizon, altimeter .... all of saitek. ............ only works the yoke and the throttle of the engine .... you know why '? thanks
Perhaps because you need to install the drivers for Saitek for x-plane. You need to search online for third-party drivers for it. Out-of-the-box Saitek is not compatible with x-plane AFAIK.
HELP !!! I have the same set up but I'm having issues with the panels cant make them work can you help?
Which panels are giving you trouble. Did you try to re-install the Saitek Drivers. If you watch our other videos we talk about the new Saitek drivers that are vastly improved.
I have the exactly the same set up the monitor the Volair Sim chair and everything I have the six panel on top of the joy stick and the radio panel the multi panel. went I open X plane non of the panels turn ON they death. I dowloaded the drivers and everything.
question: how should I connect the panels on the computer: straight to the pc or is okay to have them on a hub?
I will try to install everything again
important note: Im not a pilot just a fanatic but really like it
any advice on how I can set up everything?
this is the pc Im using
CyberPowerPC - Gamer Supreme Liquid Cooled Desktop - Intel Core i7 - 32GB Memory - GeForce GTX 1070 - 240GB Solid State Drive + 3TB HDD - Black/Orange
the other issue Im having is that went I open xplane and Im inside the plane everything looks summed in I cant see the instrument panels
I enjoyed your flight, I have your complete setup. Can you help with this? What rendering settings to you use? 172 Post are always in the way.
how much does all of this coast
The seat appears to be almost $600, It would be cheaper to just buy an old car seat and make a wooden frame.
