Yo this is probably the highest quality video I've ever seen of the indoor observatory. Really cool place, most people don't realize all that was up there with the plants and the restaurants and the little model/museum part.
One of the very few mercies granted on 9/11 was that the first plane hit before this place, the observation deck/gift shops on 106 and 107 + the roof observation deck, opened. Had AA11 hit half an hour later the Trade Center would’ve had so many more tourists, so many more people would’ve been clocked in for work.

It gave me chills when he panned all the way down to the bottom when they were inside, that would’ve been the height people would jump in order to avoid flames and smoke just 2 months later. And to think they were just tourists enjoying themselves, completely unaware of that this visit in the Twin Towers would be the only time they’d ever get to experience it.
I shivered in the part that focuses on the plane, little did they know what was going to happen in these towers involving commercial planes on 9/11 I was 4 years old and it was one of the memories that never left my head those planes hitting the wtc, watching the television here in BRAZIL

Yes, that's exactly true -- the buildings were iconic, and the views were utterly breathtaking. I went to the top of South Tower prob 2-3 times between the '70s (as a kid) and the '90s as an adult (and I worked about 5 blocks south of the towers for 3 years, so I walked through the WTC mall twice every day as my PATH [NJ-NY subway] station was in the basement). I would've gone up quite a bit more often if I'd known what was to later transpire. Those buildings were solid as rocks, it seemed nothing short of an apocalypse could bring them down, so like most people, I just assumed they'd be there almost forever -- at least longer than my lifetime. I visited the Sears Tower (or whatever it's called now, LOL) in the summer of '97 while on a business trip to Chicago. It's an iconic building in its own right, but it just wasn't the same: There's no observation deck, so you just view everything below through glass windows and, as you point out, it's a single structure. I haven't yet made it to Freedom Tower, but I do plan on going eventually, as it's gorgeous and also affords amazing views from the top deck, judging from pics I've seen. But yeah -- no matter how awesome it may be, it won't be the same as the Twin Towers.
The zoom in on the ground below makes me feel a little sick tbh, Specially considering what happened and what all those people must of went through....truly traumatic. I love all the home videos of the two twin towers, It's really great to see them in all their glory......It's literally a whole different time and world.
Those buildings were amazing but there’s no way in hell would u have got me up there. Nice to see people just enjoying there day and getting on not knowing what was to come.
Very very eerie... I got the chills as well!!! I can't imagine the look on that boys face few weeks later when the very spot there standing was hit by a plane on fire and people were dying and leaping to their death. Sad.... 20 years is coming up in one more week!!!
3:00 "You can't get any higher than this, except if you are on an airplane .... maybe" That is a bit eerie as 2 months later the airplanes would be lower than the roof of the twin towers.

Yes. The North Tower was hit at 8:46 am (tower with the antenna). The South Tower was hit at 9:03 am (this building in the video). The South Tower collapsed at 9:59 am (56 minutes after impact). The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 am (102 Minutes after impact).
south tower collapsed first because the plane crashed on lower floors (more weight on the weakened thrusses) they would have gone down even faster if they hit it even lower. plus alot more casualties from people stuck above impact zone
The sad part is that they had enough time to leave the building after the impact to the north tower. Unfortunately nobody knew USA was under attack by that time, so most people remained in their offices.
@@kassandraflores3918 it’s just logic that if a plane actually crashed into the other building, if it was me I would have run down and never came back to the South tower.

I’m kinda curious… the fences at the top seems very low and easy to hop over. Did some people accidentally fall off from the WTC? Or yet did some people jump off and commit suicide at the WTC? Just asking out of curiosity and not trying to be disrespectful
The safety railing is limited to basically the middle of the roof. There's area between the railing and the edge of the tower but I believe that was only for workers. This can easily be seen if you search pictures taken from above the WTC.
Scary thing is that an attack could have happened on this day while you were filming. You’d be dead now! I guess fate works in mysterious ways. And you zooming onto that plane was a bit eerie!

You can already see the stage built up in the plaza which was there on 9/11 also. Must have been a few weeks or days pre 9/11 when they visited... also the quality of the footage is an indication of 2001.
It's says in the description lol
It is heart wrenching to see office workers on the top floors. 😢
As far as I remember, the South Tower collapsed before the North Tower.
Mark Heying it did
I'll always wished they rebuilt it.
Still wouldn’t be the same
They should’ve as a big fu!!
It gives me anxiety, fear and depression to see the Airplane in this scene. What a frightening moment.
This footage is spooky.
are you related to Dr. Mark sloan?

I wasn’t born then I was 2004 but I would have loved to visit the World Trade Center it looks amazing plus the world would be better in many ways.
Wow, this was filmed exactly 5 years before I was born. Incredible.
We will never forget!!!
Wow thanks for sharing peryam and the description you did of the video was right on
Such a magical video of great happy times....♥️👍
Thank you for sharing this 🙏 like some random guy in the comments says, RUclips is the closest thing we have to a time machine.
... and then, the man director films that distant plane, macabre omen of what happened then .. my god how much pain and sadness 💔💔💔
I remember standing in the window in my fathers office …🙏🏻💔
I wonder if there where people on the rooftop at the moment of impact from the plane.. and how they felt
This is extremely… scary.
The kid goes, “if anyone’s falling, it’s you idiot!”
And he says, “look at the airplane!”
😢
When does he say that?
@@legoboyo2479 At 1:00, a kid said "It's not scary", and the other said, "Well if you're falling it would be, you idiot!"
Here 20 years minus 14 minutes later
thanx for sharing this video,....special for two reasons now....dave in NC:)
Those buildings will be missed, but the new World Trade Center is still very beautiful.
Does anyone know if anyone was on the roof like that on sept 11?
They was not. The observation deck did open until after the first plane hit.
Fortunately not. Casualties would've been way higher. Perhaps a lot more children would've died.
@@LEK Yes, thankfully tourists were not at building yet.
Makes my knees week seeing how far down it is .And thinking about if a jet hit that tower while being on the top of the building. I'm going to have nightmares tonight
I felt dizzy watching this. Can’t imagine hanging from a window that high looking down and contemplating whether or not to jump. Do you scream while you’re falling or do you just close your eyes and wait?
Btw, beautiful daughter.
0:35 is the best footage
Couldn't watch the end it made me too anxious
Title: pre 9-11 visit to the WTC
Isn’t every wtc visit pre 9-11?
there's a new WTC, One World Trade.
Never thought about that
I can't imagine what people were thinking when they were on the top of the trade center towers the day the planes hit the towers. I'm sure they were scared to death and I'm sure they died because they could not get down when the first plane hit plus the people in both towers. SUCH A SAD REMINDER ALWAYS. RIP.
Beccah if they died the video wouldn’t be uploaded..
I happened before the Viewing deck opened at 10 am i think
The observation deck were not open when the plane did crash, and even if it were the tourist would get out of there right after the first crash into North building.
When was this video taken? Precious children with a sweet dad. I seemed they had a blast.
It was taken July 5th, 2001 two months before the attack. I’m the dad ! My Twin boys (29 years old now) found my camcorder footage converted it to digital and made this RUclips video. Thanks for the kind words!!
Oh WOW! It's amazing. I am so glad they were not there when it happened. My heart aches for 9/11. God Bless USA.
29!? Years old. Time flies. They must be shocked. Also, they probably are good man of this society.
@@wk477 they are! Both Chemical Engineers. Unfortunately we lost their sister to complications of diabetes five months after this video which makes this video even more special to us. I happy so many people have watched it.
@@dstory629 oh no! I am soo sorry for your loss 😞 She sounded a pretty happy little girl. God bless you all🙏
The fact that the child in that video could be almost 30 years old scares me. It does not feel like 20 years ago!
If they would have got on the top to this place loads may have made it out getting in helicopters, I still do not understand why the locked door that goes up there did not get broken open?
Never thought about that. ?
If these twin guys were still up today, I would go and experience what it's like
"Dont look straight down" chills
I was born February 13, 1998. I was 3 years old at this time.
Hard to believe those kids are in their 20s and maybe even early 30s now.
If I had children, I would have a heart attack being up that high with them. I’m not too fond of heights. I was up there at age 11 with my mom. This brings me back.
Kid: there’s a plane
Father: zooms on it very close
Kid: there is another one coming
Also kid: don’t look down, well if you fall it will be you, idiot!
that gives me the chills tbh
The first kid said, "Don't look straight down."
The second kid said, "Why not? Looking down it's not so scary."
The first kid replies, "Well if you were falling it would be, you idiot."
Eerie.
What video camera are they using?
Read the description it explains what camera in detail. If you do not know hiw to get the description up please ask me. 🇬🇧👍
I’m kinda curious… the fences at the top seems very low and easy to hop over. Did some people accidentally fall off from the WTC? Or yet did some people jump off and commit suicide at the WTC? Just asking out of curiosity and not trying to be disrespectful
that day the top 2-3 floors were still closed, so no one was able to go up and jump
Those kids are really fortunate
thankyou for uploading
When they were on the observation deck, was it just straight down from there?! That fence is way too low for that height
The safety railing is limited to basically the middle of the roof. There's area between the railing and the edge of the tower but I believe that was only for workers. This can easily be seen if you search pictures taken from above the WTC.
Minuto 4:11 el Niño divisa un ✈️que ironía no así sería el final de esas torres aviones estrellándose con ellas
Justo acabo de verlo y me he quedado helado .
Además pensaba que los aviones no pasaban por ahí.
Scary thing is that an attack could have happened on this day while you were filming. You’d be dead now! I guess fate works in mysterious ways. And you zooming onto that plane was a bit eerie!
It was 2 months before the attacks
