Seeing the inside of the buildings, especially the observation deck with all the tourist stuff is so eerie to me. Knowing how it would all be obliterated in just over 2 months makes me so sad, and always will. These were such cool buildings. I wish I could have seen them for myself....

Very very eerie... I got the chills as well!!! I can't imagine the look on that boys face few weeks later when the very spot there standing was hit by a plane on fire and people were dying and leaping to their death. Sad.... 20 years is coming up in one more week!!!

Yes, that's exactly true -- the buildings were iconic, and the views were utterly breathtaking. I went to the top of South Tower prob 2-3 times between the '70s (as a kid) and the '90s as an adult (and I worked about 5 blocks south of the towers for 3 years, so I walked through the WTC mall twice every day as my PATH [NJ-NY subway] station was in the basement). I would've gone up quite a bit more often if I'd known what was to later transpire. Those buildings were solid as rocks, it seemed nothing short of an apocalypse could bring them down, so like most people, I just assumed they'd be there almost forever -- at least longer than my lifetime. I visited the Sears Tower (or whatever it's called now, LOL) in the summer of '97 while on a business trip to Chicago. It's an iconic building in its own right, but it just wasn't the same: There's no observation deck, so you just view everything below through glass windows and, as you point out, it's a single structure. I haven't yet made it to Freedom Tower, but I do plan on going eventually, as it's gorgeous and also affords amazing views from the top deck, judging from pics I've seen. But yeah -- no matter how awesome it may be, it won't be the same as the Twin Towers.

One of the very few mercies granted on 9/11 was that the first plane hit before this place, the observation deck/gift shops on 106 and 107 + the roof observation deck, opened. Had AA11 hit half an hour later the Trade Center would’ve had so many more tourists, so many more people would’ve been clocked in for work.

I had just started dating a girl who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. My mother went to NYC for her first time for work and took my dad with her at the end of August 2001. I’d already had a bad year so she offered to take me back in late September for my birthday. Thanks so much for this incredible video. You never could have imagined what an important document of history that this family video would become. I can't imagine how you felt on 9/11, since you were just there. So many people, like myself, who never got to go there appreciate this video so very much.
I’m pretty sure some people made it by being late, calling out, etc. However anyone in or above the impact zone of the North Tower that day died as a result of all of the stairway access at those points being destroyed by the impact of the plane.
@@A17YT That was the south tower. 18 people above the impact found a stairwell that had not been destroyed by the plane and escaped. Everyone above the impact zone in the north tower died.
Nobody survived above the impact zone in the North Tower. All elevators and stairwells were destroyed in the plane impact trapping hundreds. Also, nobody survived on floor 92, although intact, it was consumed by fire.
It’s so scary just looking at how high the building is just knowing that people who was still at the top after the plane crashed we’re gonna fall with the building
I can't imagine what people were thinking when they were on the top of the trade center towers the day the planes hit the towers. I'm sure they were scared to death and I'm sure they died because they could not get down when the first plane hit plus the people in both towers. SUCH A SAD REMINDER ALWAYS. RIP.
The observation deck were not open when the plane did crash, and even if it were the tourist would get out of there right after the first crash into North building.
You can already see the stage built up in the plaza which was there on 9/11 also. Must have been a few weeks or days pre 9/11 when they visited... also the quality of the footage is an indication of 2001.
At :56, the two brothers are talking, "Don't look straight down"..."you can look straight down, it's not scary"..."if you were FALLING it would be, idiot!" I was there twice in one week, by chance, in July of 2001, on the roof of T2 I said to my brother, "Imagine a jetliner hitting this..." That brother jumped to his death off of the Gorge Bridge (Rio Grande) 9/11/05; on 9/11/06, my second daughter was born. I had more than just one premonition about WTC from 1986 on up to 2001; the last one was I was with my best friend and I was OUT OF MY TREE...he's like, "What is WRONG with you??!!" "There's going to be a MAJOR terrorist attack in Manhattan!!", I replied. He told me not to call him any more, but then it happened. All he could say was, "Youuu were right, youuu were right...."
May your brother be with OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST ENJOYING HEAVEN AND CONDOLENCES TO YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES 🙏☝️✝️ GOD WILLING YOU GUYS WILL SEE HIM AGAIN
@@VanillaEarth744 Thank you. That brother was my half brother. His father (my first step-father), was involved in organized crime. He murdered my father in 1970 (I still investigate it to this day), and married my mother. They made it look like a suicide, by parking his car on a bridge just south of Hartford, CT (but my dad's body was found washed ashore on Penikese Island, 140 miles away). So when his son jumped off of a bridge, of all ways to commit suicide, God took care of business, because it devastated his father, the way that the murder devastated so many others. My mother's children no longer talk to her, she practices witchcraft also we found out. It's crazy.
A beautiful video and a wonderful view but strange and eerie the people that were on the tower who could’ve ever think that years later people who were there a few days before would’ve ever imagined 20 years later that they may have been in that building God bless all the people❤️❤️❤️❤️
Scary thing is that an attack could have happened on this day while you were filming. You’d be dead now! I guess fate works in mysterious ways. And you zooming onto that plane was a bit eerie!
I felt dizzy watching this. Can’t imagine hanging from a window that high looking down and contemplating whether or not to jump. Do you scream while you’re falling or do you just close your eyes and wait? Btw, beautiful daughter.
Ty for this video as someone from europe i always want to see how it looks like and its biggg omg i cant imagine those who were stuck above when it happend
I’m kinda curious… the fences at the top seems very low and easy to hop over. Did some people accidentally fall off from the WTC? Or yet did some people jump off and commit suicide at the WTC? Just asking out of curiosity and not trying to be disrespectful

@@lewisner Huh?
Months ago I saw a wtc vid recordet 10.09.01, but dont find it anymore
I wasn’t born then I was 2004 but I would have loved to visit the World Trade Center it looks amazing plus the world would be better in many ways.
Thanks so much for this incredible video. You never could have imagined what an important document of history that this family video would become. I can't imagine how you felt on 9/11, since you were just there. So many people, like myself, who never got to go there appreciate this video so very much.
Wow thanks for sharing God Bless you
I wonder if any of the people filmed on the top floor of the North Tower survived on September 11.
I’m pretty sure some people made it by being late, calling out, etc. However anyone in or above the impact zone of the North Tower that day died as a result of all of the stairway access at those points being destroyed by the impact of the plane.
@@worstnightmare8542 actually 1 guy managed to get down from the 105th floor
@@A17YT That was the south tower. 18 people above the impact found a stairwell that had not been destroyed by the plane and escaped. Everyone above the impact zone in the north tower died.
No one survived above impact on the North Tower. All stairwells and elevators were damaged.
Nobody survived above the impact zone in the North Tower. All elevators and stairwells were destroyed in the plane impact trapping hundreds. Also, nobody survived on floor 92, although intact, it was consumed by fire.
We will never forget!!!
RIP.
Beccah if they died the video wouldn’t be uploaded..
I happened before the Viewing deck opened at 10 am i think
The observation deck were not open when the plane did crash, and even if it were the tourist would get out of there right after the first crash into North building.
I remember standing in the window in my fathers office …🙏🏻💔
Here 20 years minus 14 minutes later
Some of my fondest memories are from family trips. They're just so memorable. Dont be cheap and hold them off... Good footage here!
This footage is so clean
You can already see the stage built up in the plaza which was there on 9/11 also. Must have been a few weeks or days pre 9/11 when they visited... also the quality of the footage is an indication of 2001.
It's says in the description lol
1:58 Those guys in their office are probably dead 😱😱😱
I was born on this day. July 5th 2001. Two months into my life and the entire world changed.
I’m the dad in the video. How cool you were born that day!
I was 5 and I started watching Pokemon the month you were born.
... and then, the man director films that distant plane, macabre omen of what happened then .. my god how much pain and sadness 💔💔💔
It is heart wrenching to see office workers on the top floors. 😢
This video makes me sad. 🙁
Ok
ok
Those buildings will be missed, but the new World Trade Center is still very beautiful.
Notice then compared to now...Nobodys walking around with...Cellphones.🤔😉
Those were the days
It's crazy.
I was born February 13, 1998. I was 3 years old at this time.
Such a magical video of great happy times....♥️👍
A beautiful video and a wonderful view but strange and eerie the people that were on the tower who could’ve ever think that years later people who were there a few days before would’ve ever imagined 20 years later that they may have been in that building God bless all the people❤️❤️❤️❤️
If these twin guys were still up today, I would go and experience what it's like
0:35 is the best footage
Couldn't watch the end it made me too anxious
It gives me anxiety, fear and depression to see the Airplane in this scene. What a frightening moment.
Thank you for sharing this 🙏 like some random guy in the comments says, RUclips is the closest thing we have to a time machine.
Scary thing is that an attack could have happened on this day while you were filming. You’d be dead now! I guess fate works in mysterious ways. And you zooming onto that plane was a bit eerie!
It was 2 months before the attacks
I felt dizzy watching this. Can’t imagine hanging from a window that high looking down and contemplating whether or not to jump. Do you scream while you’re falling or do you just close your eyes and wait?
Btw, beautiful daughter.
Ty for this video as someone from europe i always want to see how it looks like and its biggg omg i cant imagine those who were stuck above when it happend
Wow ,they really were huge....
Wow amazong and scary that this towers are destructed and dont exist more :(((😢😭😭😢😢😭
thanx for sharing this video,....special for two reasons now....dave in NC:)
I’m kinda curious… the fences at the top seems very low and easy to hop over. Did some people accidentally fall off from the WTC? Or yet did some people jump off and commit suicide at the WTC? Just asking out of curiosity and not trying to be disrespectful
that day the top 2-3 floors were still closed, so no one was able to go up and jump
Wow, this was filmed exactly 5 years before I was born. Incredible.
Oh god, at 4:07 he's like look at that one, that one's closer! Just imagine they were there on 9/11 and saw a plane smash right into the building. ;(
Those kids are really fortunate
Wow thanks for sharing peryam and the description you did of the video was right on
"Dont look straight down" chills
The fact that the child in that video could be almost 30 years old scares me. It does not feel like 20 years ago!
Makes my knees week seeing how far down it is .And thinking about if a jet hit that tower while being on the top of the building. I'm going to have nightmares tonight
Amazing how low the railings were. I hope no tourists were up there at the time of the terrorists attack.
4:16 oh hell no im dipping
2:32 twin brothers visiting twin towers
Then(at the wtc): Oh look dad a plane! Now(in the new wtc tower): OH MY GOD A PLANE WHAT IF IT CRASHES INTO THIS BUILDING-
Title: pre 9-11 visit to the WTC
Isn’t every wtc visit pre 9-11?
there's a new WTC, One World Trade.
Never thought about that
The "son, shut up" part made me laugh like never laughed before.
