L3gEnDS what? What’s nasty?
3 months and 13 days later....
What makes it so valuable?
WTC always intimidated me. I remember a school trip in 1st grade, the elevators were so fast it made your ears pop; it was clear you were at abnormal heights above ground once at the top, I can’t imagine working there daily. RIP to everyone who lost lives
Woah because of the height of the twin towers dang.
@@-phantom.7746 yes! They were massive
@@Rhythm973I’m. Sure the collapse intimidated you even more

There was such a calm innocence in the air back then. Sadly the world has never been the same.
Ah I know what you mean. 2001 was a great time. Especially for a childhood.
Yes! 2001 was chill..people were down to earth, unlike today.
I was 10 in 2001. Even though i was young i am still able to know what you mean. Compare 2001 to now and it is trash these days. Yea there was chaos back in the day as far as wars and attacks but not like now. Every week now there is a major attack somewhere.

In two decades from now, you might find yourself reminiscing about how great the year 2023 was, just as you do today. Therefore, make the most of your life, savor every moment, and embrace the present with full enthusiasm. Instead of being overly optimistic about the current times and the future, focus on living in the now and cherishing the experiences it brings.
In those days the World Trade Center Towers still dominated the view across the river where I lived in downtown Jersey City. By the time I left in 2015, there were so many towers in Jersey City that when I stood on the front porch and looked left, I could not see anything in New York anymore. I had to go down by the curb on the sidewalk to see New York and even then, you had to know what was in New York, it was no longer obvious just by looking.
Those were the days: when the World Trade Center was always there, something you had just seen or would see again soon. I had temp jobs up above the 100th floor and on other floors too. What a view we had up there at Shearson Lehman. Often I was there after the sun was down. The elevators were so big. I used to ask myself if I would want to work in those buildings full time and the answer was, not really.
I don't believe in buildings that tall anymore. If something goes wrong there are just too many people and too many stairs. It is just too much. Whatever anybody says, don't believe it. It is just too much.
Thank you for the ride. I would love to do it again. 8/22/21
I went to visit the towers in the summer of 1996 it was such a beautiful day i remember being in the elavator so excited to get to the top i was about 12 at the time still hard to believe after 14 years there gone
Chuck Norris at least you have a memory
Wanna go bowling?
3:45 The towers finally making their appearance... I remember on the first time I came back to NYC after the fateful day I glanced in that direction while on the way in a bus and for a split second I actually half-expected the familiar sight before I was instantly greeted by an empty space. Seeing their demise on TV live was bad enough, but actually going there and experiencing their sudden absence first-hand...it just broke my heart to finally realize that they were indeed gone 😔😔😔
They are only buildings! Victims are important.
I had a similar experience when I came back down to the city from college for Thanksgiving break in 2001 my buddy and I went for a drive downtown and it just smack me in the face that the buildings were no longer their very surreal
Yavor Alexandroff we all know that! She/he is just saying it’s sad to realize there’s no building. It was Beautiful before that happened. Also I’m not saying it’s not Beautiful anymore just it’s sad.
Its very sad to think someone could do such a thing to other people and not regret it
It’s crazy to think some of the people in the video walkin around could have been victims
And some of them could have been hero's. Some of them have their lives changed forever. Some of those people went to bed that evening not realising it was the last time they would do so. It's harrowing. ❤
Its crazy to think these people’s government blows up the damn towers
Not really likely but possible

Great video, brought back memories of driving through NYC as a child with my dad since he lived in Manhattan and I'd spend weekends at his apartment which was near the WTC. At night the NYC skyline was a breathtaking view something you'd have to see in person to really appreciate. After the towers came down the skyline was just not the same and I would cry everytime wed pass where they use to be. Even now as an adult this makes me want to cry.
You must've had an amazing time there as a child! I remember being 9 years old and watching these amazing buildings get destroyed. When I thought of America, I always thought of the twin towers.

I went to the World Trade Center in March of '01. Never in a million years did I imagine that it would all be gone in just a few months.
This is great footage of an otherwise forgotten pov to the average person in modern day NYC. I love this kind of stuff, now they just need to turn this into a VR experience.
Don't think I've ever driven on the FDR and seen so little traffic, pretty crazy. Also pretty sure a cab ride from 62nd to WTC wouldn't cost $14 dollars today lol.
more like 40 a ride hell the subway would have been hell of alot faster

World trade center was so beautiful 😍
They had their own sort of celebrity status as a landmark.
I really miss those old iconic crown vic cabs soo much. They ruled NYC. Really hate the new shitty Toyota camary, Prius cabs
When I finally visit (hopefully this year maybe) I'll request a Crown Vic from a cab company. They'll think I'm nuts ("a cab is a cab mister!") but fuck 'em, I wanna ride in probably the last Crown Vic. They're so iconic to us Euro dudes
The Crown Victorian Gas tank explodes when hit . After 2005 The police dept stopped using the car. In Yonkers a cop was killed when the gas tank got hit ..
Crown Vic were banned since the gasoline tank explodes when hit at a certain angle. Even police departments replaced them the risks were too severe
I remember visiting Manhattan for the first time. Although I can’t remember what year. I can say for sure it was on September 10 and after the towers fell. But, I was shocked how sexy and beautiful the girls were there. And, I love the city too
They were gas hogs too
oh man those towers were friggin HUGEE. I cant imagine being next to them when they fell
You might of died, if you were next to them when they fell.
Kinda creepy hearing the sirens on the highway.
krayzeejojo you know what the problem with new York is ? It's new York
krayzeejojo Yeah, creepy foreshadowing of what's yet to come... And those brave firemen could be deceased for all we know...
There’s nonstop sirens in New York
I was thinking the same thing in just 4 months there would sadly be lots of them :(
okay now I think you're just splitting hairs.
That was such a lovely time to be alive. NY is not the same without those two. They were something special.
People from Poland also died in WTC but my friend alive because she had weekend that day. Respect from Poland
I'd do anything to go back in time 17 years and visit the original twin towers. It'll always be just a dream to me.
Me too. I'd do everything to prevent 9/11 even if it would create "time paradoxes" and other geeky shit. To hell with paradoxes, I want the twins back.

The WTC were the most beautiful Twin towers on the planet, they had so much carisma! Minoru Yamasaki buildings, they are all very special!
My family was planning on taking me and my sister during the summer of 2002. Obviously we never got to. We were planning on visiting New York City that summer. I remember looking forward to it over a year in advance. We didn't end up going anyway because my grandfather died but it still feels strange to think that in summer of 2001 we were expecting the Twin Towers to still be there in 2002.
I was planning a trip in May 2017 for almost a year beforehand (from August 2016) and had to cancel at the last minute due to surprise cancer. Lost so much money I had to sell my car. So gutted. Gotta try and go again though

I swear when I saw the twin towers my heart dropped, I'm so sad I wasn't even alive to see any of it. I was born in 2003 and I just hate the fact that they got.. destroyed!
me too :( i was born in 2004.
It was such a horrible day! I wasn't there and it was on the news. It would make you feel like it had to be a dream.

I was able to see them from the Jersey airport during a flight layover in 1996. Thankfully my kids seen them also. They don't remember much cause Grandma was passing (my mom). The date 11-9
Born in 2007, they look beautiful for NYC.
I remember staying at the Stardust Casino Hotel in Las Vegas Christmas 1995, I was told to go up the stairs in case of an emergency. Go up, not down, a helicopter will pick up people in the high floors. Back in the day, you went up, not down if you were on a high floor in a hotel junior suite.

No one ever expected just how sacred pre 9/11 videos of Downtown would really become
As an ex New Yorker, in 2001 the building and signs in your video look like I remember, and oddly the traffic looks normal, Not Crazy like these Days! And it's good to remember seeing yellow cabs, Not Uber & Lyft which killed the cabbies. And to think we all functioned without Smart Phones and people survived just fine!
And Yes this Millennium started off badly with the 9/11 attack on the United States and our lives changed, things have gotten Crazy Expensive and more complicated and dangerous. Life simple Joys that always existed in the 1/2 century before are gone and have been replaced with a sickly acceptance of "THE NEW NORMAL". Life has been bad ever since!
The RUclips algorithm does it again!
It's Wednesday, May 29th, 2024. What do I get recommended? A video shot exactly 23 years ago!
And to think, as a native New Yorker, I visited the WTC twice. First, for my 10th birthday in November of 1991. My second, and last time, 2 weeks before 9/11 when I was 19 going on 20. From The Bronx, with love. Thanks for posting this great video.❤

The glory days of the early 00s and my life
@Alex Alex A lot of new people, people who weren't even alive when it happened
@Alex Alex Children are people and people born in 01 and 02 are adults now
@Alex Alex Pretty much. I'm a generation X er. I was always so fascinated by stuff in the 1960's and 50's. My dad would say that is yesterday to him. So you see young people on these videos. To them it was a long time ago. To us, it was just yesterday. 09/11 seems like only 10 years ago to me not 20.
Glory days are always short
@Alex Alex BS. The 2020's is a much different world in many ways than just technology, especially socially & politically. Americans in 2001 weren't wearing masks either.
I never got to see them in person. The first time I went to NYC in 2006 the site was a huge construction zone.

R.I.P to all the people that lost there lives on the day
Including in Washington DC & Philadelphia
UA 93 crashed in a feild near shanksville PA
UA 93's target was the white house.
There were millions upon millions of people who visited the towers inside and outside before they were gone. If they went there and didn't take very much photographs of the buildings from the inside or outside, of such a unique place, then that was there choice. Many people afterwards most likely wished they had. The towers were first attacked back in 1993, if you remember. If you don't, just google it. You would think more people would visit and appreciate those buildings after the first attack, but they still didn't receive much respect. They were not exactly liked by some people, because they thought the buildings were too plain looking. Which they weren't. There was an indifference to them compared to the other buildings in New York city at the time.
+Dean Wilson They never got the respect they deserved as not just icons of New York but of the entire United States and arguably the western world as a whole.
I wonder if folks would claim they loved the new building all along, if it were to disappear. Some folks like it but it aint the twins and never will be
Not 100% true.. If the twin towers were so ugly and hated they wouldn't have been put on so many movie posters, in movies, covers of magazines, used for music videos and weren't hated by everyone. I sure didn't care for them and took them for granted before 9/11 anytime I saw them I was just like "Wow. Two tall ass buildings."
Felice Graziano hey ben had ones that had music in it what was the name of the music
I've never been to New York but would love to visit. Every time I see the WTC my heart pauses to think of what happened there.

What is common, that everyone exactly remember that day, 11.09.2001, and what they did that date.
I was on my way from physics exam at Uni, driving from Kraków to Sanok, east Poland. My girlfriend picked up the call from her mother. She started to explain to us what just have happened. It was so difficult to catch, that enormous tragedy. Once we got back home, we jest sat in front of tv and followed breaking news. Horrible view.
It's not me to judge and comment if towers collapsed due to melted steel (i have my own opinion about that). I just wanted to express, that it's so sad, that many innocent souls lost their lifes.

Those towers always caused me Claustrophobia, Its narrow windows, its external appearance, like armored, oh I can't imagine if you add heat, smoke and Fire to that 🥺🥺
My heart twists when I see these videos. Boy do I miss those towers! 😢

I've heard many times that people who live in New York are a little aloof and impersonal . On that day though, they came together. I've never see such bravery, strength, courage collective grief and pure love for each other. Amazing wonderful people.
The good ole days, I miss the old N.Y.C ....I was in 7th grade when the twin towers was attacked !

I'd pay a fortune to go in this taxi today.
I know exactly where you’re at. This is the FDR entering lower Manhattan. I take the same route too if I get a cab to take me to work. Now I can envision the towers if I ever take a cab again, going this same route. Thank you for sharing

I'm in the UK and was in college at the time. I was about 17 and our time it happened around 1-3pm. I remember the first I heard about it was when my friend was receiving loads of messages asking if her dad was ok (he worked in new york). We were in a public park and confused as to what was happening, but when we got back to college after lunch all lessons stopped and we saw it all on the TV.
