Survey of India, the principal mapping agency of the country is celebrating its 250 th anniversary in year 2017
It is the oldest scientific department in India and one of the oldest survey establishments in the world
Quest to explore, expand and conquest more and more areas in India lead to the establishment of a regular government survey organization, one of the earliest country in the world to do so and commence systematic and scientific surveys

What a momentous achievement ! Super stuff !! The British mapped the entire indian subcontinent. A stupendous accomplishment. And look at what we did after that ! We got everything on a platter..and screwed it up.
