Alice is a trip, the true master of the concept album. Tracks like this are great, but they work even better in context of the whole album. Biz, just for me, please do “Generation Landslide”.
That whole love it to death album is fire. It's fantastic. Long way to go is one of my favorites. It was in that movie called The World According to GARP.
if you want to dive into Alice Cooper start with his early 70's Dead Babies { very deep song } or Killer or Halo Of Flies or Be My Lover or Im 18 just a few thanks
That's pretty much how I have always viewed the story. And that's an incredible chorus every time it hits, see my lonely life explode. And then it really rocks out at the end. It really is one of the great rock songs.
I’ve seen movies with the actor Dwight Frye. He usually played very offbeat characters. Alice is probably referring to his portrayal of Renfield. Alice is one of rock’s greatest lyricists. I love how he refers to his straight jackets as a straight white vest like he’s not sure what it’s really for.
@@NoLegalPlunder flush the fashion has 2 of my favorite Alice Cooper songs ( Pain and Cones) i was so happy when he performed Pain in 2017 . I never would have guessed that i would see that song live
This whole side is worth a listen, the last song is a bit of a throwaway to my tastes, but the rest is excellent down to earth rock, basic but original and very listenable.
Alice Cooper is one of my all time favorites. Started listening to him in high-school. Ive seen him in concert a half dozen times and he really puts on a show. WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!! If you don't get it look it up.
I've got 3 Alice Cooper songs for you. Number 1: "Billion Dollar Babies," the construction of the song is very unusual. In the song he does a duet with Donavan. One part is spoken, the other is sung. And they're both in different tempos. But somehow they manage to come together perfectly. It's very cool. 2: "Lost in America." Great lyrics, Great message. Great instrumentation. Great vocals. 3. "I Better Be Good." Light and fun and hilarious. I recommend all 3 plus a hundred more.
Hi BIz! Alice Cooper is all about great songs and is very theatrical on stage. This song he does wearing a straight jacket and looks crazy! His concerts are huge productions. I've seen him many times over the decades and no other rock concerts compare. He has so many great songs. Here's a some more that you should review, Halo of Flies, Billion Dollar Babies, Welcome to my Nightmare, Muscle of Love and for a few excellent ballads he's done, Only Women Bleed, You and Me and How you Gonna See me now. Love the reviews Biz, keep them coming!
Love it to death was a killer album. That original lineup of the Alice Cooper Band way ahead of their time and totally underrated. got to see them live on the Welcome To My Night 0:17 mare tour.a show I will never forget.
"Love it to Death" is my fave AC album.. Every track side 2 is a trip!!.. Tremendous catalogue.. check out "Desperado".. "Luney Tune".. "Halo of Flies".. "Elected".. "Hello Hooray".. "Years Ago/Steven".. way too many to mention. Cheers
You should see the live version of this especially the video from 2017 ( He always performs it in a straight jacket and the insane nurse in the video is actually Alice's wife . They've been married for 47 years )
The whole album is awesome. I think you should do "Black JuJu" from that album. It is an extraordinary track. Yeah man. I agree as well that the whole record is the best way. And Generation Landslide
People today don't realize that there were/are 2 different Alice Coopers. First there was the Alice Cooper band which was fronted by a guy named Vincent Furnier. They made 5 very successful albums, had a lot of hits, and then broke up. Sometime after the band breakup Vince Furnier copyrighted the Alice Cooper name and decided to continue using it for his solo career. This solo act is the Allice Cooper most people are familiar with today. Ballad of Dwight Fry was from the band's first album "Love It to Death." The big hit off of this album was "I'm Eighteen."
Correction there, the first two albums the Alice Cooper band put out were "Pretties for You" and "Easy Action". Both were more psychedelic sounding, this was the first album thad had a more traditional rock sound to it. I bought a CD set that had the first five albums they put out, from "Pretties for You" up to "School's Out". I've probably listened to "Love it to Death" and "School's Out" the most of the five
@@TuxKamen Yeah, I probably should have included them. They were actual releases but it's kind of hard to take them seriously. The one they did for Zappa only sold like 100 copies when it first came out. The production quality was also substandard when compared to the 5 WB releases. I've actually heard these (got a kick out of Shoe Salesman) and had a hard time recognizing the band at times. Still, I should have included them.
@@jvsmith7888 First time I listened to the very first album, I almost blasted my eardrums. I was listening on a headset and thought it was too quiet at first 😀Those are the two I've listened to the least. The set made me appreciate listening to the original albums more, instead of just greatest hits collections, because there are some really good songs on there that might not have gotten radio play because the studios didn't push them as singles
The golden era of Alice, for a few albums in the early 70s he was unreal good and scary to many. The original Alice Cooper band had many great songs, do Halo of Flies from Killers, that is what Alice and his band have always been: killers! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
I am such a fan of Alice, we're going next month to his concert in Springfield, MO. In honor of that, could you please review his new single, "I'm Alice"! it is insanely awesome. Released a few weeks ago, but has that 70's vibe of his music. If you can't do that, please do "Nobody Likes Me". its one of those very hidden gems, only available on his box set orignally. Its also the song that got him signed by Frank Zappa, because when they played it in a california club called "the whiskey", literally everyone walked out. Except Zappa.
It’s about time someone from the urban community came along with intelligence!! All music should inspire people but what’s new in rap is old in a month. This was written somewhere in 77 -78 so considering what was mainstream that this had parents going to priest to have them perform an exorcist!! So you have to keep that in mind! And Alice cooper concerts were not just guys standing playing instruments its is like a play where he even gets his head chopped off in a guillotine !! Anyway I like that you are interested in rock n roll be really it’s all created by ur ancestors!! Fantastic!!
This song hooked me in back when the album came out. very infectious chord progression and compelling lyrics/vocals.The chocking man is left up to interpretation but my take was that it was someone else trying to escape just before him who didn't make it (metaphorically) and he was glad it wasn't him.. Why he was chocking who knows, but it was clearly outside the institution on the street. Did he attack him? I think Alice purposely left that to conjecture ...
Thank you so much for this amazing reaction to one of my favorite songs of all time! And you so nailed the story, so many people don’t get that part that he killed the guy, but he’s crazy so he disassociated himself from the incident and fuck it’s such brilliant story telling it blows my mind everytime! You made my day!!
The previous track leads into this one. In the second coming he thinks he is the return of Christ , that's why is in the physic ward. Listen to them together.
Saw Alice several times in the early '70s and there was nothing like an Alice Cooper concert. When it came to the combination of theatrics and great rock and roll, the Alice Cooper Band was second to none. They usually opened their shows with "Under My Wheels", or "Hello Hooray", a couple of great ones for Biz to play for us. Some other Alice classics that Biz hasn't reacted to are "Be My Lover", "Caught in a Dream", "My Stars", "Luney Tune", "Elected", "Billion Dollar Babies", "Is it My Body", "Generation Landslide", "Department of Youth", "Public Animal #9."
Alice Cooper has so much unique and theatrical type performances. Saw him play during an insane rain storm in 1990’s and never missed a beat with his Welcome To My Nightmare/Steven portion of the show. It was unreal.
For the record Dwight Frye was an early film actor that often played neurotic and murderous villians.
the original Renfield..
FUN FACT.... Alice Cooper and Glen Campbell were close friends and played GOLF together!
That whole album was great...his early stuff...the best!
Detroit Grit. The Stooges. 1969
@@markwilliams5606 And the MC5! Kick Out the Jams!
Love early Alice!
It's a killer album.
no, it's a love it to death album. killer was the next one. , Hah! you almost had us there Steve!
This entire album, plus the next four = a wonderful deep dive. Really, really incredible music.
This version of the Alice Cooper Band was SOOOO good.
So jealous of u, hearing this for the 1st time!
Keep alice playing!
Amazing what kind of musicians you can find on your high school track team.
This really has to be done together with Second Coming
I'd say Second Coming, Ballad and Sun Arise, since they all lead into each other. I've always loved hearing them back to back to back
Halo of Flies and Dead Babies are excellent songs from the "Killer" album.
FYI, Dwight Frye was the actor who played Renfield in the original 1932 Dracula.
Generation, landslide, elected, desperado, and for a funny light hearted song I love America
Alice is a trip, the true master of the concept album. Tracks like this are great, but they work even better in context of the whole album.
Biz, just for me, please do “Generation Landslide”.
YES!
La da da dat da da!
Yeah, good choice
1973 billion dollar baby tour still my top 3 concerts I’ve ever seen . I would suggest Mussel of love or Billion dollar babies next 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Got a Great car collection. Alice Cooper. Detroit Grit.🪴
'Mussel of love'...HaHa! Better check your V2T Thor.
This album is another one of those albums where each song is great. Fantastic album especially for it’s time.
A great song live. The story is portrayed on stage. Alice is one of a kind.
The live performance of this is always fantastic! Saw him a few years back, still fire.
we're going next month
WOW, nobody reacts to this song, and almost nobody reacts to Alice. Whooot!
Generation Landslide, Billion Dollar Babies, How You Gonna See Me Now.
Oh I haven't heard this in ages. This was my first AC album. Yep it hooked me. My favorite still is Black JuJu.
That whole love it to death album is fire. It's fantastic. Long way to go is one of my favorites. It was in that movie called The World According to GARP.
That’s a great tune and Caught in a Dream is also a good one!
if you want to dive into Alice Cooper start with his early 70's Dead Babies { very deep song } or Killer or Halo Of Flies or Be My Lover or Im 18 just a few thanks
Another great selection this was dedicated to the actor Dwight Frye who played in early horror films

His album Flush the Fashion is criminally underrated.

Alice Cooper, the god of Goth. The lyrics make you doubt your brain.

Crazy Little Child from the Muscle of Love album. Alice rocks !!! Thanks dude!!

ONLY WOMEN BLEED-ALICE COOPER 💥💥💥
No one is worthy! Alice and his band still kill it. Every show is professionally amazing even now!!
Alice Cooper was the band before the singer grabbed the name and went solo. One of the best band of musicians at the time.
Alice cooper is cool ! Love to hear him talking about meeting Elvis !
Still have all my Alice Cooper 8-tracks & cassettes, albums,CD’s and now digital complete catalog’s in each….. 🔥❤️🎸🤘🏼
Great reaction Biz !

How You Gonna See Me Now,
The Quiet Room,
Jackknife Johnny,

My fav Alice Cooper song!! It's so dark and disturbed.....like me 😳
he is a living legend, saw him before iron maiden couples years ago, an amazing show, a real performer, my fav,,,(hey stoopid)🤘🤘🤘

jazzy number from west side story
This is BY FAR the best album by ANY version of an Alice Cooper band.

This is probably the most distrubing and even somewhat scary Cooper-song that I can think of on top of my head. But also one of the very best.
Alice the king of shock rock. Listen to his music live performances. Theatrical
"We're the Department of Youth, and we've got the power."
"And who gave it to you?"
"Donny Osmond!"
The whole album is awesome. I think you should do "Black JuJu" from that album. It is an extraordinary track. Yeah man. I agree as well that the whole record is the best way. And Generation Landslide

Love It To Death and Killer are the strongest work from the original band.
Try "Is It My Body?"
You're beautiful for listening to this and your reaction is exactly what I felt when I first heard it
Wow, thank you
This is the Alice Cooper band! Love it! This whole album sounds like a lounge act from hell!
My first show 1986 Saginaw civic center
Fun facts Dwight Frye was an actor who played in the original Dracula movie from the 30's who later went crazy in real life which inspired the song
One of my favorites, check out Elected when you get a chance, saw Alice Cooper early 70s ,ZZ Top was the opener, great reaction as always,
Sing Low Sweet Cheerio, Levity Ball and Fields of Regret from the first album Pretties For You are awesome songs also. Thanks for doing this one!

One of my fave songs by the Coop. Been a huge fan since I was a teenager and saw the original Welcome To My Nightmare tour.
You're right about it being about drug abuse, but it's from the drugs itself's point of view, and it is controlling your life and killing you.
Alice Cooper even had a line of comic books back in his early years and his first comic plays off the ballad of dwight frye
i loved these guys, before everyone else found out Alice was a man. Love It To Death, what an album! First concert ever.
