The creator of Batman, Bill Finger, wrote a story a long time ago where Joker revealed he was a criminal named the Red Hood, except instead of Ace Chemicals it was a card company, and the Joker card inspired him.
Then Alan Moore took that and expanded it on Killing Joke. So after Zero Year, Joker being a criminal named Red Hood is 100% his self proclaimed origin whether people believe him or not. It's his only memory apparently

That being the only memory of Jokers from before the chaos is really powerful to me, especially as Jason Todd becomes red hood. I think in the context of that it makes Jason so much more the threatening as he could possibly even remind the Joker of his own trauma and humanity

That ending side story sounds like the premise of Pontypool, with the audible virus turning people into what are essentially zombies. That said, I wish we could get more than Joker from DC. For instance, Alfred is still dead right now, you can bring him back and do a redux of the classic Outsider saga. That guy hasn't been used since the Crime Syndicate New 52 stuff, and even then that's an alternate universe Outisder. The real deal hasn't been seen since the 70's when Alfred melted around a third of Manhattan. I like that villain.

I still like the idea of Jokers true origin story to remain a mystery. But im not against trying to explore what it could be, although i dont want it to be definitive. Its comic books, everything changes back and forth and its fun to see how what things let to what. I do like the idea of a story of the joker as he starts going insane or what happens immediately after falling into the vat. I guess they wanted to connect him more to batman through one of his mentors. It kinda feels weird, at least right now as to why that person would want to make the Joker able to unleash his full potential. I do like how all of it does fit in with a lot of the other stuff about the joker we know, like him having family then being the red hood to what we now him as. The mentor was talking about how to be fearless, so it could be one of his more mental stability trainers instead of combat, especially since the art depicted him to look calm while being choked. So i guess we will see how the xur en arrh persona manifested.
I honestly would like to see the story of the joker plague lol.

The thing about corrupting heroes is losing that drive to combat problems instead of becoming them, its a why try when its all evil without a stop gap. It gets polluted, all that to say Jim Gordon is always better off as the swirly guy who is committed to doing what's right when it sucks, it's okay to be corrupt, while Bruce is the one who goes where no one wants to be when its bad he goes in.

I haven't kept up with this. But I need to confirm, is No. 2 is actually Manny, that crooked detective? He looks the same.

Joker on The Prince Of Grime has evolved beyond his origins to something elemental a walker through emotions of both fear and laughter a man born of chemicals has become an elemental of liquid laughter a grinning smile of something to be feared and sorrowed as the deeper he goes there will no route back for this jester of fear the darkness is yet to happen and the future is the laughter?

Joker has no origin. He doesn't even remember his own name. His history is multiple choice.

Great video! Check out Batman The Knight #8 for more on the mysterious man following the Joker. His name is Dr. Daniel Captio and he trains Bruce Wayne in that issue. Also written by Chip Zdarsky! 👍

So a random dude teach the joker how to be the joker ? Waw... I knew this "new origin" was gonna suck but I have to tell I'm impressed by the scale of it.
