Year one and The Long Halloween are my two favorite Batman comics of all time. Mask of the Phantasm is my favorite Batman film. Hopefully, The Batman will be my favorite live action flick🤞🏾🤞🏾
@@vincentfranklin17 they're connected, all of Frank Miller's Batman story is connected(TDKR, Year One, DK2, All Star Batman and Robin and The Master Race). Year One is the only canon of DC continuity.
I'm cautiously optimistic for the Matt Reeves Batman film but Robert Pattinson is such an incredible actor, so I know I'm going to love the character he creates in those shoes. P.S. Watch the Lighthouse, Willam Defoe and Robert Pattinson are incredible in that film.
Seeing Willem Dafoe in that and No Way Home makes me want him as the Joker at some point in this trilogy. Specifically the third film, who better to end it on?
@@riannlim991 iirc they announced it early on in the production of the movie but its been a while since ive read the article so take that with a grain of salt
I love that Batman: Year One is just as much Jim Gordon's story as it is Bruce's. It's (currently) my #2 DCAU movie behind Batman Dark Knight Returns Part One, and I'm constantly rehashing that list to swap it to #1. I haven't had the chance to read the comic, but I should make time for it because it sounds 1:1 with the movie, so I know I'd love it just as much as the movie.
@Julian Desa I recently watched Phatasm for the first time and enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as Year One or DKR. Also, I just use DCAU as a catch-all term for the DC Animated movies. With how many times the universe has been reset, I couldn't be bothered with which time line goes where or what movies are apart of what, lol.
The writing, the artistry, a must read for any batman comic fan. This story, long-halloween, and Batman White Knight with a mention of Court of Owls are the best of batman imo. Just wish they made more like this.
I just recently watched the movie for the first time because i didnt know much about the comic, but i have to say the movie was pretty good and i love that we got to see jims story as with bruce's beginning.
Since you already have done the history of the Riddler, can you do history of the Penguin Since they're both going to be the main Villains of the Matt Reeves Batman movie? Is this Batman movie going to be exciting and worth watching also this isn't the first Batman movie to be called "The Batman"?
@@divyanshusrivastav3706 Do you think that they are gonna rebuild the Wayne Manor? Cause i really want to see him in his mansion. I don't want to see him keep living in the Wayne tower

Pretty sure that by saying he's practically blind without his glasses, Gordon was saying he couldn't recognize Bruce's face, so there's no secret to keep.

I can see so many aspects of this story in different Batman stories I love. Of course, there are hug connections to but I also see a lot of it in and and I am glad you guys covered such an influential comics series.
Seeing it March 5 here in Thailand. The release date here is March 3rd, but "my" cinema seats were already booked. FYI, if you ever visit Bangkok, make sure to put "go to a VIP movie at Central Rama 9" on your list. If you wanna go super big, go to "Gaysorn" (near Central World). You will feel like Bruce Wayne, promise.
So I was reading year one recently for the first time and overall thought it was alright. Pretty action packed which I really enjoyed. However, there was something that stuck out to me. When you first see Bruce he is coming home to Gotham after spending years training abroad. This implies that he had already decided he wanted to become a crime fighter. I wish we could have seen this in the comic just cause I would have liked to see the actual moment he decides he wants to fight crime, rather than seeing him after he had finished preparing for it
Definitely Batman year One and Batman the long Halloween is just truly exciting and very great to read before the Batman movie I am optimistic about this movie because Robert Patterson is a phenomenal actor, Zoë Kravitz is an absolute amazing actress and I think this movie is going to be amazing , thank the Lord it’s not connected to anything
"Ladies. Gentlemen. You have eaten well. You've eaten Gotham's wealth. It's spirit. Your feast is nearly over. From this moment on, none of you are safe." - Batman: Year One (1987), written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli.
One of the best comics I ever read, from the beautiful artwork to the incredible story and characters. The only comics I can think that are better are Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns, being my other favorite two comics.
Batman Year-One, All-Star Batman and the boy wonder, the dark knight returns, dark knight strike against, the master race, And Superman: Year-One are in the same continuity.
People don't hype the animated movie that much but it's easily one of my favourite pieces of Batman media. I love that film & Ben McKenzie is such an underrated Bruce Wayne/Batman, he's so good & suits it so well imo.

In the animated version, Gordon and the guys with the baby, who are IN VEHICLES, are followed by Bruce, ON FOOT. The bicycle makes a little more sense, though I do wish Batman just jacked one of the shot guys' car or something.

After watching Robert Pattinson in The Lighthouse along with Willem Dafoe makes me want his Batman to fight Willem Dafoe as the Joker. This is the chance to see him as the Clown Prince of Crime. I think they should, if they consider Joker at all of course, save him for the final movie in the trilogy. Of course this is all speculation and I honestly think that Joker is a tad (just a tad) overdone. (Probably the Arkham series doing that honestly.) However, I think it'd be cool.
I want them to treat Joker like Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs. Batman is trying to catch criminals and fix gotham but gotham is increasingly getting worse and worse. In order to fix the city and defeat the villains he has to understand how they think so he goes to arkham asylum and look to Joker for advice. Joker agrees to help batman but in the same time he is playing with his head making batman question his own morals and choices. He’s a beloved character but im sick of seeing him as the main villain.
Batman Year One is also a great movie I wonder if this new Batman movie with rob also got some inspiration from Arkham Orgins which takes place during the same time to his career
Well, not the first villian batman fights, well kinda 1]when we use the term villians its generally talking about super villians or extreme criminals like joker scarecrow, riddler, bane etc or people with actually super powers[ aka villians of other heroes] 2] the thing with falcone is that he is suppose to be just the typical mob boss. those generic city crime controller/ mob boss who the hero fights before the any of his villians show up or are created. 3]we have seen it with all street level heroes, there is a generic crime boss that the hero opposes cause they don't even fight the mob boss, just put a wrench in the operations and once the villians the hero fights show up the mob boss disappears in the background, become a C list character if lucky used for really small storylines. 4] Falcone is always used like that, just here is a generic crime boss batman fights and is quickly forgotten about once other villians show up. so he doesn't have much of a history 5]even in the nolan flims which tried to make a realistic batman and used only 4 of batman's rougues gallery, he wasn't given much, has a scene where he explains the power of fear to bruce in one of the flashbacks, then once bruce starts as batman the first thing he does is arrest falcone and then scarecrow uses his fear toxin on him and locks him in arkham for being crazy and we never see him again in batman begins or future films. 6] the only storylines where falcone gets any character or a history or is even depicted as a serious problem are Batman year one and batman the long halloween, and he ends up dead by the end of long halloween! 7] he is just the generic mob boss batman must oppose before any of his villians turn up, as they usually come in after he starts chasing criminals off the street, a sort of escalation in crime. 8] only exception to this is kingpin from marvel an antagonist to daredevil and spiderman who is a serious threat and has been the main antagonist and a big problem to all marvel street level heroes who operate in or near newyork. Not just a generic forgotten mob boss.
To date there has not been a great Batman film. Although some are better than others, the best portrayal and story on film is yet to come…if ever. Frank Miller’s Year One is the best story.
