Man in Baltimore wondering if this black man in the midst of oppression thought this beautiful rendition would be played around the world. I can hear Ray Nance, Cat Anderson, Clark Terry 😭😭 S/O to Mr Charles Funn for teaching so many us in Baltimore the tradition ❤🎺😊🙏🏾
When I listen to Warren I hear history , I hear Pops , Ruby Braff, Bobby Hackett, Clark Terry and many more players wrapped up in his mind, but in the end it’s all Warren he is an unsung hero of jazz. He really keeps the tradition going . What an amazing player. All the musicians here are the best in the world. The groove is dead on and stays in the pocket perfectly.
Had the pleasure of playing with Warren several times, great to see and hear him hear again. I keep coming back to Emmet's channel as I know I'm guaranteed great swinging, yet creative, jazz.
Vache is such a hard ass - haha... first throwing comments at Cohen towards the end of his piano solo and then giving him looks of disappointment... hahaha gotta love that....
The drummer absolutely loves his job
Now that's some seasoned lyricism from the horns
One of the best tenor solos I've heard in a while
One of the best trumpet solos ive heard in a while.
Especially, considering he is playing Cornet, not Trumpet.
Yeah there's a lifetime to learn in that trumpet solo. (They're all great).
He's got that old school tone 👌
Cornet*
@ thanks, we figured that out three years ago. You’re a little late
Rhythm section got deep pockets. Swingin' quarter notes so fluid and tight.
Yeah Russel is literally my favorite bass player now
100%
🤪
@@bradygandy1031 What a delicious tone too
7:05 ? "Cut that ....??old?? stuff" ???
These five guys make a sound of big band... and swinging like hell!
I thought that too !!!
Warning ⚠️ playing this at 1.25x speed can and will melt a heart
Emmet Cohen is really a fabulous pianist. Every tune is an astonishing joy.
That's the most I've seen Kyle smile ever.
Cohen nailed it. He held his own while standing in Duke's shadow - no easy task.
Harry Allen is a killer 🎷🔥
Nothing but great melodies from the soloists! 5:01 Joy Spring quote!
Props to my man on the bass. Super clean lines. Deep in the pocket
Most people don’t realize Duke Ellington is actually Canadian. He wrote that tune Take the Train eh?
Was just about to correct you, then I got the joke 🙄🤣
I'm thinking "dad" joke, and then note your name, LOL!
Take the "EH" Train.... pure genius
😂
Actually he didn't write it, it was written by Louis Armstrong
What a beautiful, expressive rendition of a classic, some serious hours and knowledge coming through the horns, trumpet and sax solos brought a tear
Warren never wastes a note. So beautiful. Inspiring everyone thank you 🙏
❤this performance. JP and Tivon Pennicott are soo deep in the groove it’s stupid!🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯Great quintet!
Che gioia mi date,grazie
Emmet listening big time. This my third listen to this. I catch more joy each time.
Damn did I miss this train by a few years! Glad it showed up in my recommendations! Love how everyone was having fun on this chart!! Very excellent!!!
Bless this channel and musicians for honoring these old standards!
Some Lester Young vibes going on there for sure. Love it
Wahou ! Bravo !🎼🎸👍
I wish I could play my tenor that good
The sounds are always superb at Emmet's Place..But let's also thank the cameraman for great angles and sound man for balance !!!
Agree. Props where props due!

One of my favorite songs, you played it beautifully.
3:17, interesting. This is an awesome recording!
Oh lord, the lyricism is just perfect - 5:01

Emmet Cohen is on fire

Thanks for this wonderful swinging tune. Big hugs from Taiwan!
I love Taiwan!
Ooooo i love it

Constant streaming great musicians. I'm loving it.

Juicewrld on the drums going in
Soooo enjoyed that - Thanks Emmet & Co. You were all amazing - Billy and The Duke would have given this a standing ovation.
real cool
I'm here in Liverpool in the UK. It's a year later after you posted these videos... wonderful music.
Isn't that Franz "Cool Boy" Crooneyfrer (from South London)?
What a great piece, smiled all the way through.
this is one of my favorite videos of all time
so much better at 1.25 speed wow
Wonderful. Just wonderful. Smiled through the whole tune. Thank you for sharing this amazing music!
Kyle and Russell are having the time of their lives
what kind of cornet does this gentleman play?
Espetacular!!! Muito bom mesmo, vocês estão todos de parabens e a qualidae do som ficou nota 100!!!
Great stuff...Man that blind guy can blow that horn....!!
Hahahaha I though the same thing, I had to look him up to see if he was actually blind or not
Yeah he's not blind
Can’t beat classic jazz. There it is.
What did I just watch ? Unreal !!
God damn, these are always so in the pocket. Harry is such a legend.
wow love the piano solo
Kyle in the back at 0:59
Cool, especially the drummer 👍🏻
Love the tempo.
No amplification. Mics just there for recording. Beautiful intimate acoustic music by MUSICIANS.
Are you implying that people using amplification aren't musicians? 😂
Love this song …
at 2.28, the sax has a kind of "distorted" sound I really like. Has this technic a name ( I am a guitar player)?
It's called growling
Amazing music. Just great.I love this song. Thanks for this wonderful, swinging tune....from Fresno, CA.
what's up with the trumpet player?
What did Warren say at 7:04?
"cut that all the soloists"?
Come back, all is forgiven
I think he does not like those "time games" of the rhythm section, he is a very traditional player..
@@bobgerac I can’t stop laughing at this comment
"Cut that solo soon" I think
Good as it gets. But gotta get those big dudes some comfortable chairs.
Ha, that's funny! Did you see Magali Datzira's version of this? Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/969IjG0n4ss/видео.html
Vache is such a hard ass - haha... first throwing comments at Cohen towards the end of his piano solo and then giving him looks of disappointment... hahaha gotta love that....

Thundercat on drums?
What did Warren Vaché say at 7:02 ?
I have no idea, but in my head he was telling Emmet to wrap it up already. 😬😂
Soooooo nice!!!
Perfection
Hard swingin! Lots of great music coming out of that litt le place.

Third time back.
I love how Warren looks either mildly intrigued or mildly annoyed buy other soloists. Great playing though
This concert was off the charts
does Russell plugs his bass to an amp? i never see any cables and it sounds really big
He has a mic
This is an incredible RUclips channel. So many amazing musicians and classic Americana tunes
That trumpeter's expression while laying out makes Johnny Hodges's face look animated.
Oh God... Crazy
its the space in between the notes that create great melody, drama and excitement
You guys Rock . Can I bring my Horn ?
just love it
Diggin this groove at this tempo. Swingin man!
Wonderful music ! So much talent!
Steinway piano?
voces sao divinos!
Me encanta,!👏👏👏👏
Maravilha!
Yes ,Sir!
Apresentação espetacular. Vache é excepcional!!!!!
Lol i though on this instrumed s u play stuff like mozart 😂😂 but this really sound cool.. like "cool klassikal music' 😂😂😋 ha. Ja.. very nice 👍👍
It breaks my heart, the lack of Dean Norris references. Are minerals out of fashion!? Haha
SHOW
😄😃😀
This is one of my all-time favorite jazz standards
joli!!!!
Amazing
it reminds me of Shanghai JZ club, was golden era many years ago, when we use to sit and play until morning.....
2:19 2:23
är trumpeten blind?
Nope. Just in the zone.
Wow.
