      @Rashed1255 I'm not talking about how it fires. I was talking about how it completes the whole sequence (eject shell, load new projectile, move projectiles inside the mag) without electronic parts, only buy some strings and a single lever, and it can be pretty fast.

    Realistically you should extend the back out and make it shoulder mounted and fired. That way not only can you actually aim from the side, you actually can manage the recoil better because now you can use your entire back to support it instead of just your arms taking the brunt of it without any other support. Also the barrel could be longer otherwise you will be left with a lot of unburnt powder

Even if machined from steal and actual 40mm cannon rounds were used with FSDS projectiles, it would be too heavy to lug around and if fired it would dislocate shooters shoulder or if supported, kick you like mule several meters backwards, or most likely just detonate since chamber pressures on those things are rather ridiculous. Thats why all AT rifles pretty much require two man team to operate and lug around since you need it to be heavy to help mitigate the recoil, or be mounted on turret. I'm not sure how many people will get this but...
    With some slight modifications, I think this can be used for a Code Geass Knightmare Frame cosplay (either the shoulder bazooka-thing or the arm mounted version).
    Imagine seeing a guy dressed as either a Glasgow or Gloucester come up to you on roller skates, point his arm-mounted cannon at you and actually fire the thing!

    I know there’s no explosive propulsion going on in the chamber but you should still make it to where you can’t eject the round until it’s fired or at the very least have a bolt release button somewhere, kinda like a pump action shotgun. That way the bolt can’t accidentally slide open before being fired!

    This is god tier nerf toy work. If I would have seen/had this as a kid, my brain would have exploded.
    Amazing. They’re may be a way to use smaller diameter ammunition and perhaps with a shorter action cycle, an electric servo may be utilized for automatic fire.
    My mind instantly drifts towards crew served weapons for kids to learn teamwork in their backyard/wood battles. Perhaps a 1/2 scale German 2cm Flak 38 on an Sd.Ah 51 trailer. 😂
    One things for sure, it’s incredibly stimulating for weapon/history/engineer buffs.

      @@flyguy0765most self reloading mechanism in 🔫 work from gas, the propellant gas goes down the barrel and there’s usually a channel which separates off and recirculates it back into a plunger.

    • @polishbot
      @polishbot 21 день назад +3

      exactly what the commenter above said. that being said, the pressure released from firing the cartridge would have to be great enough not only to propel the projectile out of the barrel, but to travel back along a gas tube in the split second that it's still (greatly!) pressurized (before the projectile leaves the barrel), AND to push back the entire mechanism for it to cycle.
      the engineering issues with a design similar to the video's would be:
      making the cartridge have a way higher pressure release due to combustion than the current cartridge design (basically redesigning the entire thing cause at that point the propellant would have to be either pressurized H2 (more H2 = more pressure released on combustion), another gas that can release more pressure (i'm not a chemist idk what gases can do that, if there are any), or using entirely different, perhaps solid propellant (I.E. gunpowder));
      making the chamber stronger so it is rated to withstand the new higher pressure;
      ensuring all the parts of the new mechanism can also withstand the higher pressure (recoil spring, bolt assembly, gas system, etc.)
      ALTERNATIVELY just use a f'in motor like the first reply said lmao

    All it needs is an electric belt drive to make it cycle full auto and its essentially a handheld Bofors cannon. Making it a mount would enable the ability to constantly reload like one too.

    I never understood the fixation with joystick-like handles for this kind of weapon. The muscles in the kinetic chain to operate the weapon are so unergonomic!
    My recommendation for more ergonomic handles is to look into the M2 Stinger from WW2 and machineguns made for walking fire in WW1 ^^
