I Feel Free by The Cream was one heck of a great song too in the 60's . Many I knew back in those days thought it was their best song. The voice of Jack Bruce, the harmonizing, and Ginger Baker's drumming was A1 perfect on that song.
I love Eric's music but here is an odd thing I noticed, (I wonder if this is only me) If you look at pictures and videos what I find with Eric is how his looks change so much. There are pics I stare at and cannot tell which guy is Eric, anyhow I gave him a nickname of chameleon
I think he's a good guitarist when he was on the stuff but once he got sobar he just did what bb king did and never expanded after he got sobar but I guess that is a good thing I'm impressed with him doing the Robert Johnson dvd where he was playing all the songs that got him started and he goes back to Chicago it's got some impressive stuff on it while he learns the songs he the one who wrote Clapton is god on the train station nick Fleetwood was there when he did it. 😊
Besides his racist rant onstage -stow your later apologies idiot boy, and his vaccine denial idiocy the real truth is he is a bit overrated today. The so-called "vaccine denial" was due to him having dreadful reactions to the first vaccine. He even had a second vaccine when it was offered and still had a bad reaction. So presumably you'd pump a third into your system despite the awful reaction? Or maybe you'd want to report that they weren't suitable for everyone despite what the "experts" were saying?
Dad leads? Laughable, Peter Green never played anything as incendiary as Have You Heard. Nor did Beck or Hendrix, though I respect them both immensely. Neither did any of them go through as many changes or stay consistent enough to do the Five Long Years that Clapton pulled out in 1994, without a Les Paul and without a Marshall. EC was a guitar god but it begs the question if you can separate the artist from his art or however the saying goes. He has done and said some things that are quite frankly not good.
So what if he isn't?He pretty much invented the classic Les Paul through an overdriven Marshall sound that is still a benchmark for most rock guitarists and his integration of blues licks into psychedelic blues rock was ground breaking at the time. He's had more influence on guitarists than most actual virtuosos.
@@vintagepipesnightmares And my point was "so what if he isn't".Sneering about knowing only "2 pentatonic licks" ignores what he did, how pioneering he was and how much all rock guitarists are standing on his shoulders. His influence has been far greater than genuine virtuosos.
He has never played the same solo twice... he has a million licks and phrases to build infinite structures that articulate the precise momentary feeling of a given song. You can and he has lived a lifetime never running out of novel ways to play within the pentatonic. It sounds good. Sorry! Let the so-called virtuosos play their many modes and they will never penetrate the human heart like Clapton does.

You never mentioned Crossroads. The work he does to help others is phenomenal.
Eric Clapton is an astounding addition to this human experience.
My favourite Clapton song from a musical point of view is Pretending. I could listen to that guitar all day, every day.
Interestingly, he did not write “Pretending”.
@@wangbar1 not the lyrics, but he wrote the guitar parts. Jerry Williams penned a number of great songs specifically for Clapton

My favourite Eric Clapton song is I Shot The Sherrif & I'm glad it led me to discovering the great writer of it & his wonderful music Bob Marley.
Love them both!
Thanks to Bob Marley...
Still one of my favorite guitarist no matter what his recent issues are. I don’t care
Layla is hands down his greatest song ever!!
If a person has already done their homework on the guy, these videos are filled with oversimplifications and inaccuracies.
I'm a ex-stained-glass window designer, too.
So now i know what i can discuss with Clapton when i meet him some day ... 😄

@@regandunn4850wish Duane coulda stuck around another dominoes album or 2 with him woulda kept Clapton from playing safe licks for atleast a lil while
That is known as "collaborating". When Eric did that, it often met with great success. You couldn't ask for a better "co-writer" than that.
Clapton liked that picture because of the dog pissing on it. He said it kept him grounded.
