Today Old Trafford is in a sorry state, a cramped ground with terrible facilities, only 3 seasons ago an elderly gentleman died after falling down the exit during a game against City, if you happen to be sat at the back of any of the 3 big stands, you have trouble seeing the whole pitch, especially the goal at the opposite end, in comparison to City's, Arsenal's & Tottenham's new grounds, it's decades behind.... I'm just glad I'm not a United supporter! I don't think I'd cope with such lacklustre facilities!.

Didn't you watch the video? Old Trafford generates more matchday revenue than the Etihad, and more than any other English stadium. It's doing it's job. And it's doing it far better than the Etihad is.
@@Monaleenian that has no relevance at all to what I wrote, and even if it did it just proves my point even more, why isn’t this being reinvested in the area around the stadium or the actual stadium itself? The Glazers could not give a toss about our club. They have done nothing to maintain the standard of football and success which was defined by SAF and they've renovated the stadium once in 15 years. They've spent no money out of their own pocket, and have rather taken out around a Billion pounds from the club. There's a reason why you see Glazer Out protests everywhere. The fans are not fools.

Luckily they are now changing this and moving to the back of the stretford end. It reinforced the view that people in charge aint got a scooby doo.
I visited OT in Nov 2019 for the Brighton match, my first ever visit. While I was awe struck to just be there as a United fan, I did realise 1. The cramped space between rows. I am 6 feet 2 inches and had problems managing my knees. 2. The food and beverage area ran out of food at HT. They cater to 75000 fans every fortnight. They should know how much to stock. 3. The restroom at HT was a horrific scene. Maybe that’s how crowded the stadium restrooms are during intervals, but how people were not pissing over each other was a miracle. 4. The staircases that lead you to the stands could become massive choke points in the event of disasters that require quick evacuation.

I took my son to watch a game at Old Trafford 2 yrs ago. We were sat right at the very back of the quadrant. United scored at the opposite end of the pitch where we were and, incredibly, I had to duck down to see the ball go in the net because the sloping roof was obscuring part of the goal! A good 3rd of the stadium you couldn't see because the roof was hiding it. We were all shocked by how shabby the exterior of the stadium was also looking, rust and flaking paint on the white(ish) steel on the roof. There are far worse stadiums of course but this is Manchester United who like to call themselves the biggest club in the world, well if they are they really need to act like it. It will be interesting what kind of a transfer window Utd have this summer, don't get the players the team needs then I can see the hardcore fans really venting their frustration.
You need to understand the FACT that Man U, rather than being the biggest club in the world, as they were a decade ago, are now just a big club, and WILL be contesting 6th, 7th, 8th place with Arsenal in the PL within a few more seasons, as the waves of vampiritic ownership and fan disgust do what occurred to the Gunners for slightly different reasons. It will be a very long time before they rise to any real prominence again, if ever. New blood for new times is enervating the old
Man Utd's Old Trafford stadium that a bit if TLC won't cure. All it needs is the Upgrade of the Sir Bobby Charlton's Stand with a 2nd tier to complete the original design & the removal of the 3rd tier of the Sir Alex Ferguson's Stand & replaced by TV Screens for all 4 corners. We also want a levelled new Roof + modern refurbishment of the rest of the stadium to warrant a 90K capacity in comfort.
SBCS 25K + SAFS 25K + SES 20K + ES 20K = 90K. Take Note: The Stadium Expansion should not exceed the rail track. Old Trafford known as 'The Theatre of Dreams' unique in style is the Super Bowl of stadiums & is potentially The best Stadium in the country, possibly the world.
I’m probably one of the few supporters that would like a completely new stadium - I’ve been going to OT on and off since 1972 it once was beyond doubt the best club ground in the country, it’s now by modern standards years behind the top PL stadiums. A new stadium could be built that was still sympathetic to the history of the club and as long as we kept the name Old Trafford I really wouldn’t have an issue with that.
While a new stadium would be revolutionary, seeing how the investment WONT come from the glazers but rather our own revenue, we’d end up in administration before it’s even completed

As a football fan I've been to Old Trafford a few times, I can really appreciate that it has a really old school feel. That it's old and a bit torn makes it really feels like a historical stadium with lots of legacy. It's lovely. Newer stadiums feel and look like plastic wifi router boxes. They are much more boring. I think you should upgrade some aspects, but I hope it can keep the old school feel, it's very unique. Preserving legacy is more important than ever. I'm not really a Man Utd supporter (or of any Premier League team really) but I really respect the club and its history and has followed it on a distance for long time.
The fact that Glazers spent zero on transfer in the previous season shows that all they want is a top four finish. Mourinho had succeeded to get a second position finish too and he wasn't given a center back. They will probably not spend again when United has a chance to be the contender for EPL in the next season. No wonder the protests are happening.
Old Trafford stadium is so old that it's become rusty and it's got a rat problem too. That's bad... For the biggest and richest club in the world! Thay haven't made any significant changes to the stadium in nearly 20 years. It's no surprise that it's falling apart. But how could they let it get worse? The Glazers have to go... 😤
Old Trafford has the same problem as San Siro. Their both full of historic moments but their gone past their years.. their not morden and don’t do more than just showing the match on match days.. they don’t have restaurants or shopping malls like many other newer stadiums.
Been a few stadiums and was excited about visiting old trafford...what a let down. The seats are the smallest ive come across, no wonder they can claim 70k attendances, also the view is terrible and I wasnt that high up, as for the digital screen...there isnt one. The name says it all Old
This is how long since Old Trafford was last renovated, Man City were bought over by a multi-billionaire and transformed into one of Englands wealthiest clubs, Bournemouth climbed from the foot of League Two to the Premier League, Portsmouth went into financial difficulties and sank all the way down to League Two, Arsenal, Tottenham & West Ham have all demolished their old grounds and moved to brand new modern stadiums, the list goes on.

Might As well watch from home if you are going to get that view. I was in the North stand once and I was shocked to realise you cannot not see the whole stadium except the pitch. Felt sooo claustrophobic.
Agreed, but in the age of VAR, you can imagine how confused and infuriating it must be as a fan when theres a check going on without knowing wtf is going on.
I agree, much like Fenway Park's charm. It's no more confusing awaiting a decision on a check than at other grounds with large screens as VAR itself has been a total shambles; besides, the stadium announcer keeps the crowd informed. Maybe smaller LED strips/screens placed in the corners, like those used as scoreboards at Anfield, would look better than massive screens.
People have got short memories: LFC were close to going into administration under H&G, who were worse than the Glazers. The big difference is LFC got lucky in the end that they couldn't afford to keep hold of the club and Hicks couldn't raise the finances to buy out Gillet, which led to the banks stepping in and forcing through a sale to FSG. Also, Utd fans were spoilt under Edwards, Gill & Sir Alex whilst Moores & Parry let LFC stagnate. I would say LFC fans have had it far tougher in regard to ownership problems than Utd fans since the 90s.
Biggest problem is the weird slope and brick wall that surrounds the pitch! How that hasn't seriously injured anyone yet is beyond me. Why is that still there?!
"fans complain about being uncomfortable during matches" Particularly during 0 - 5 against LFC. Rodents at Old Trafford? Too easy! I can't be bothered to strike that softball for a homerun!
I'm surprised that there is no mention of Old Trafford being downgraded as a European Final Venue, a UEFA Euro's venue, and FIFA WC venue ! all because it doesn't meet modern stadia requirements. Stairs too steep, seating too close, concourses too narrow, too few toilets, not enough food and drink outlets, the list is massive ! The solution is simple, build a new stadium 50 meters to the North of the present one. Or better still out near the airport, so you don't have to queue for two hours after a game to get down the Chester Road.
Old Trafford was opened in *1910.* as much as I love this club and the stadium it has, it’s old and needs a massive fix-up, especially after seeing the Spurs stadium or the planned Goodison park revamp that’s making me mad jealous.
@@sanye4k I’m not saying ‘knock it down and start anew’. I’m just saying it needs a revamp, a small expansion perhaps. I’ve toured the place twice and honestly, apart from the trophy collection, there’s not really much else to see that makes me think ‘wow, this is amazing’ *Man City’s changing room looks cleaner and more spacious than ours.*
While renovations may be necessary, I hope they never build a stadium like the emerites, etihad, or Tottenham new stadiums. What makes old trafford iconic is the blend between modern and traditional English football stadium designs where each stand is a different design and size and is rectangular and not round like most new stadiums
It’s true I watched United v Arsenal 2 years ago in November and I almost drowned. The leaky roof was horrendous. I had a cold for the rest of the week. I got no luxuries whatsoever and it is not cheap. Family stand. Which basically means zero atmosphere and random European people buying a match ticket online. Like the Swedish dude I sat next to and his teenage daughter. It was so cringe, I’m not going back unless I’m in the Stretford End with the proper fans.
Seriously it needs knocking down and building a modern 21st century stadium closer to their many loyal customers, sadly land around Guildford is expensive.
I often mention this to United fans when talking about the biggest stadiums in the country. I'm a United fan, but even I cannot stand being at OT sometimes, I usually get stuck up in the North Stand unable to see a damn thing, most f the time I cannot recognise who scored. And there's usually two fans either side of me who are pretty much inside my personal space... Technically, the three of us have to change our facebook relationship statuses to 'it's complicated'. Old Trafford has the biggest capacity in the Premier League, but it's still average compared to others, which could have much bigger capacities if they placed their seating on top of each other. If Wembley had the same seating arrangement as OT, the capacity would be about 125,000.
They did not spend that money. The money spent on transfers comes from the revenue the club generates, not outside investments like you often see in Man City.
What people don’t realise is the billions is from our own revenue, not from the owners. They don’t invest shit into the club Plus there’s the debt. Before they showed up, we were debt free
Similar issues at NUFC where Ashley has even sold the club land behind the Gallowgate end for development which is the only end that could be extended. Toilet walls are filths, the whole place needs a good clean and he even changed big TVs on the concourses for tiny ones you can hardly see. Bloke is a charlatan. BTW you can have Bruce if it’s Ole out apparently he’s a Man Utd fan and a top manager/coach according to the pundits so he’ll have you winning trophies.
At 6:14 minutes: Either keep the stadium to savoring the seeds of history with the matching name -- or have Jim's fund or Qatar handle their new tenets moniker.
You forgot to mention the many hundreds of millions the Glazers have taken out of the club & pocketed. A club they bought not with their own money, but the club itselfs. It's amazing such a thing can be allowed to happen.
We haven't had fans in Old Trafford for over a year. Perfect opportunity for some upgrades... Or not. United would truly be untouchable with a proper owner and the likes of Souness and all these saying the Glazers aren't that bad know it!

Lets not forget the absolute farce that was the disability section... behind the goals under the away fans, in an area where some seats are literally at ground level below the pitch. Lets put our most vulnerable fans in area where they are more likely to get stray shots (mainly from fred) in the face, flares or other things dropped on them from away fans and with a limited view of the pitch. Luckily they are now changing this and moving to the back of the stretford end. It reinforced the view that people in charge aint got a scooby doo.
They put the disabled section there to get rid of a troublesome vocal part of the ground. Divide and rule.

I never knew about the many problems that Old Trafford has, thank you Tifo football
Many miracles can happen in life, but Glazer selling United and Old Trafford getting revamped doesn’t look like will be one of those..

Went to old Trafford in 07 for rugby league grand final. The toilets actually looked like they had been there since the stadium was new and according to recent news things haven't changed.
When I was in high school, Old Trafford was the pride of Manchester United and among the top stadiums in Europe. I remember reading that it was among UEFA's 5 star rated stadiums (I think no other premier league stadium had this rating at that time - correct me if I'm wrong). Sorry to see the situation now.
I would like to see them completely transform the stadium like they are doing with Camp Nou. Build an equally large grandstand as the north over the train tracks to the south and rework the exterior and roof to something more impressive. Also, clean up some of the lines inside, get rid of various cutouts in the seating and overall make it better.

Do rats and leaking roofs also have their own charm? 😭

I often mention this to United fans when talking about the biggest stadiums in the country.
