Sir Alex played 2 weeks with Michael Carrick & Fletcher as CB...and they won both. He even played O'Shea as a 10...no one will ever understand it but he won again. Greatest ever
That game with carrick at centerback i really respected defenders as a whole, as brilliant as they were carrick and fletcher were lost schoolboys on the pitch
One of the worse squads to ever win the league. Showed just how influencial Ferguson was to their success, especially when you consider what happened the season after.
TBH, it was a fluke of a season. So many 50/50 game went United's way while their vastly superior City greatly underperformed. Likewise the very next season all those 50/50 games went against Moyes making him look worse than he really was.
I’m a United fan and I remember this season very well. This was the same season when United struggled to get clean sheets and had an aging and bizarre defence, but STILL managed to win the league and by a comfortable margin (11 points). Would have won it by 15 or more points but he relaxed a little because the title was already won in like March. Love him or hate him, you have to admit that Alex Ferguson was a monster!!
Thankfully it combined with Aguero having his worst season for City (only 17 goals). Had he scored 30 like he had done the previous season I probably would have gone right to the end again or City might have won it. In Moyes first season part of the reason why he did so badly and United were 15 points behind 4th place even was suddenly we weren't free-scoring in a lot of games. Average for the season was 1.684 goals a game, whereas it had been 2.263 goals a game. Which is what you'd expect a title winner to have as an average as if you are scoring between 2-3 goals a game you would expect to win most of the 38 games of a season. Unless you are really good in defence you aren't going to get anywhere near the top of the league. Mourinho seems to have addressed the problem this season as last season United scored less goals than Bournemouth! and the season before that only scored 1 more that Sunderland! Thankfully winning the F.A Cup, League Cup and Europa League in the last 2 years and returning to the Champions League have glossed over what would have been seen as 2 more poor seasons for United.
People over sell the Van P transfer, like it was some master stroke! he was the most in demand striker in the premier league, whom wanted to join Utd! it was a no brainer! its remeber though very different, like Fergy found this 29yr old striker and took a risk!
Basically a shite defence, shite midfield a couple of good wingers and strikers and the best manager the prem has ever seen and you have the 20th title.
Miss him. He was the manager throughout most of my life. With mourinho if it's true talking about PSG, things will never be the same. Sir Alex WAS Manchester United.
But , the video makes out it was a master piece by Fergy! Vpersie was the number 1 target for many clubs inc City. he was in big demand! he chose Utd because of a kid hood thing. Getting Van P was the Ovb move for Utd. not some shock And no surprise to me, that he added the goals to push the 1st or 2nd best team over the line.
SB1 Fitness yeah but the thing is at United his goals counts for something as it win the title at arsenal he scored but it’s was to seal 4th place always
Apolinar Lopez people were saying that modern football has changed. and he is stuck in old ways of football. Him and wenger dinosaurs. So that quote is him saying even though i am a dinosaur I will always be a winner. And he proved it.
Niv Football yeah but the phrasing is all wrong...if his second statement started with "BUT what I am", then his first statement should've been "I am NOT [something]"....just saying
it's not the same team. ferguson left just when 90% of the team was getting old and not good enough anymore. he left just in time so he didn't have to get through the rebuild. even if he stayed, united would have struggled.
Kopite Hmm. Good point. But Moyes didn't make it easy for himself when he asked Vidic to learn defending from Jagielka. Imo Moyes was a good choice, better than Van Gaal for sure, and deserved much more time. But Ferguson has no comparison.
Bigga it’s easy to say mourinho now since he actually has the job, but back then there was no guarantee that he actually would have taken it or was interested in it at all. And moyes was better than the overhyped van gaal who spent millions on transfers and still couldn’t win the league.
How was he better than LvG? LvG won UCL title with Ajax in the 90s, won the Dutch title with Az Alkmaar in 08-09 and was 3rd at the WC 2014 with one of the worst Dutch teams ever - only Robben and RVP were the standout players in that team - He also had to completely change the formation and tactics because of Strootman's injury and lets not forget how he changed keepers for the penalty shootout vs Costarica which proved to be a masterclass decision .
The amount of times they came from behind to win that year was incredible. It was painful as a Liverpool fan, but you can’t deny that Fergus was an absolute genius.
I remember the match against real madrid. i remember that Real Madrid was scary as hell. They were one of the top teams in Europe at that time. But a damn old fekin monster called Sir Alex Ferguson proves that Manchester United can compete with anyone regardless what they are. we have a good world class player but few of them are already getting old. and combined with a young good player such as De gea , Kagawa. But i remember we outrun varane and ramos with fekin Nani and Welbeck. Even Rafael at the first half of second leg makes a great overlap. i remember we had a great games at the first half (IMHO that is the most beautiful football that Manchester United produces in Europe in that season against top tier teams) before Nani red card. Maybe the reason why Sir Alex didnt go the press conf. because he was devastated. Maybe he felt the same way as we felt that Manchester United can win the game. even Jose Mourinho, says "the best team lose".
I still feel so aggrieved by that sending-off against Madrid - Fergie had out-maneuvered the opposition with spot-on tactics and then Nani had a red through an abysmal decision. I remember being surprised that Sir Alex did not turn up for the post-match, though in hindsight it was clear how much of a blow it was. It was prove his last chance - Oh what might have been... Brilliant video though I'd also like to add that it was fitting that while City had to wait on tenterhooks till the very last seconds to win the league, United won it in cool, professional fashion with a few games to spare. Guess that happens when you're used to winning titles!
@fkbl1 From your comment, I think only a few things are clear: 1. Either you did not see the incident or you are not clear about the rules regarding dismissals, perhaps even the general rules of football altogether. 2. Your attempt to paint it as simply bitterness on the part of United fans is really misguided - a bad call is a bad call and it's unfortunate when it happens to the team you support. Do United fans think it's harsh? Of course we do. Do we think it's harsh ONLY because we are United fans? Absolutely not. It was simply a bad call. 3. Further, going by your desperate attempt to look cool which you would refer to as your profile picture and the nature of your comment it seems to me that there is a very high douchebag count in your bloodstream. I might be wrong, but the evidence is pretty stellar. You might be a troll on top of that, in which case I just want to congratulate you since you've posted a negative comment on a RUclips video which must really be the highlight of your daily routine. Well done my friend, I leave you to your ignorance and cynicism. TL;DR - Please don't comment about United fans. Or red cards. Or football. In fact, don't say anything at all. It would suit you best :)
This is what I mean though, Everyone says "oh he was shit" "clueless blah blah blah ect" but what were his actually tactics, like this channel is really good for explaining the bigger picture. I'm a united fan but don't particular enjoy players like Lingard but after watching the video on here about him it enlightened me a bit. There is a reason Moyes played the way he did, no one goes into a job wanting to lose and I think this channel would do a really good job of A showing what Moyes wanted from this United team and B showing why it went wrong. One major flaw I remember is the game against Fulham where we just crossed the ball about 80 times, It was an awful game but I don't get why Moyes wanted us to play that way.
rgejsv moyes mistake 1: tried to change too much too quickly.... he sacked the multiple title winning staff for his own and totally changed fitness regimes which took its toll on players like rooney giggs rvp. 2: failed to pull the trigger on many top signings hence was forced to buy fellaini as a panic. 3: he tried to impose a vision but wasn't clear on what it was so players got confused and gave them negative vibes. 4: he always set the team up not to lose while barely trying to win 5: he was unclear on how to move the ball forward and often wanted long balls and diagonal balls (hence the fulham game) and last he couldn't win over the senior players and couldn't motivate the team
rgejsv from what I've heard,p moyes pretty much had no tactics, apparently he'd say one training sessions he want players to pass it short and the next day he'd say pass it long which meant the players really had no idea what they were doing. He also lost the dressing room quite early on in the season after some pretty shit man management
West Brom fan here. Remember that 5-5 draw with United which ended the season; and Ferguson's reign, like it was yesterday. Was our best season in the prem.
It’s not just what he’s done, it’s how he’s done it. Breaking The Old Firm monopoly and making Aberdeen a serious European threat, Winning what he did with the Class of ‘92, the Treble season, winning the 2012/13 League with a squad with positional holes in it and several players in their mid-30s and pushing 40, and making 3/4 of his Champions League Finals in his last five years of management.
Biggest reason why Sir Alex is a cut above all other great managers? Sir Alex kept on re-Inventing himself and winning. He never stopped winning. Built Aberdeen from scrap and won the European Cup Winners Cup. Built United from scrap and built 4 different world class squads. Won his last league title in 2013, and decided to call it a day. That’s what makes him the best ever.
I wouldnt say they were bad defensively. Its just that they were never satisfied with anything less than a win and most of the times it came down to scoring 1 more goal than the opposition. What a manager.
@Gareth Gunter And I recall ManUtd had a goal from v.Persie wrongly disallowed in that game for offside should've been 3-5. But not a surprising score as both teams were bad in defence that season. One big difference was ManUtd had world class attackers. Reading conceded 7 to Arsenal didn't they in the league cup...lost from 4-0 up lol you know your defence is crap when that happens.
There's basically two types of teams. Some managers go with the odds - the less they score, less goals needed to win making it easier to outscore, managers like Fergie go full attack and outscore opponents no matter how many they concede. When implemented correctly both tactics can win you trophies. Attacking is riskier because usually worst you'll get playing defensively is draw 0-0, while failing attacking might lead to high defeats like 2-4 etc. It's important to have correct players for what you want that's why sacking managers too often leads to chaos. Ole is now struggling against teams that park the bus but he's doing well against strong opponents not afraid to attack because then he's playing defensively, getting quality up front who will break through might be just what he needs to win against mid table teams regularly.
He spent 375 milion euro in 7 seasons (2006-2013) and won 5 premier leagues and a champions league...Imagine how many tittles he can win with 1,1 bilion euro or almost three times bigger (money spent by united in last 7 seasons) He is really a legendary coach
I was lucky enough to be there for his final home game. I had a Mancunian work colleague who was a season ticket holder. At the start of every season he used to ask me what games I wanted to see at Old Trafford. As he was working in London he couldn't make every home game. But he was always there for the big ones. I'd always plump for the last pre Christmas game (assuming it wasn't against a big rival) and the final home game of the season. He guaranteed the final home game as it was against Swansea. With three weeks to go Sir Alex announced his retirement. Clearly that ticket he promised me was now like gold dust. But true to his word my colleague let me and my 12 year old son have the tickets at face value. True gent he was. Me and my son will always treasure that memory. Thank you Rob and Thank you Sir Alex.
A scouser I used to know in 2008 said “all of the other teams are just waiting for Ferguson to retire.. then everybody else will get a chance.” Since then 4 different champions in 7 years and not one of them being united. He was right. United lost the edge when they lost sir Alex
A rival fan but i have great respect for alex ferguson. Although he came from an era where managers were more forgiveable and given more chance to prove themselves, he remained relevant and adapted well into the new era. Hats off!
He didn't come from a more lenient era at all. There's more avenues to succeed nowadays especially if you manage a rich club if you're not getting results you rightly lose your position. There's also no 5/6 year European ban for English clubs like Ferguson had in his early days at ManUtd which not only made it impossible to win or qualify for European competitions during that time, it also would've denied him the chance to buy very good foreign players available because the European ban was a turn off to foreign players when considering a move to England. Even without the European ban for the first 10 years he managed ManUtd the qualfying rules were harsher only the English champions could qualify for Champions league even in a 22 team league rather than 20 teams and it was 15 years into his ManUtd managerial career that English teams could finish 4th out of 20 and qualify like it's been ever since (although he never finished as low as 4th in the PL era) but also since then another more lenient rule you can finish outside top4 but qualify for CL via winning EuropaLeague. There's definitely more avenues to get success nowadays. Ferguson won the CupWinnersCup for ManUtd in the very first season English clubs had their European ban lifted. Many fools count his first season as 1 of his failed seasons before he started to win things which is crazy, he joined in November with the club in 19th place impossible for them to win the league etc... Why do you think he had more time in his era?
I've always wished these particular videos were an hour long. They're so good. I watched this when it was a month old and I'll keep nipping back every few years. Great video.
It was a real blessing watching Man Utd in those days. Their brand of football...the goals...the players...the manager. Don't think we'll ever see that MUtd again. Been watching them since I was a teenager and I was always confident they would score...
I remember being so depressed the day after we got knocked out by real in the champions league. I knew that was his last season because it felt like he was going to pack his bags and leave forever, and that we would have to wait for a long time to be contenders in that competition again. Even mou himself said that the better team lost. Now when I look back at it, he was almost as good that season as in 99, a shame we couldn't go further in the champions league though.
This pisses me off to this day, we managed to draw with them at the bernabau, but in the 2nd leg the red changed the game. If it didn't happen, we would of got to at least the semis. Then we would win the final as Wembley advantage, that would of been a perfect way to see fergie send off. 4 th cl title if not for that ref
I don’t think Man Utd’s squad in Ferguson’s last 3 seasons in charge was that strong at all, especially the midfield. So to win 2 league titles out of 3, very nearly win the title that they missed out on, and reach a CL final during that period shows his managerial genius. Even in 2011/2012 despite blowing the 8 point lead with 6 games left, to finish with 89 points with that pretty weak squad for Man Utd’s high standards especially with Vidic completely out for the second half of the season, was actually hugely impressive. During Ferguson’s time in charge, Man Utd had both a lower gross and net spend on transfer fees than Liverpool, despite generating significantly higher revenues. So he didn’t spend a lot of money at all relative to the club’s resources and financial power.
So cl final, 2 premier league, 89 points in 2 consecutive seasons mean that they were not good. They were great. This same team dominated real Madrid and even morinho admitted it. We had a leaky midfield but we won the league by 11 pts
And now United have easily among the biggest wage bills with nowhere near enough to show for it. This season could end up being their best since Fergie but that would be a third place finish with exciting football for once and maybe a Europa league Crazy what a good manager Fergie was
kev in exactly, i hate when people criticise Cleverley, Jones, Anderson, rafael, fabio , etc. Those players got us quite a few titles and guess how much they cost combined, not even close to Pogba’s or Lukaku’s fee. Now we’re being happy with Europa cup or top 4, smh.
@@thangchano I think a big thing overlooked is that once SAF managed to get his squad into a routine for preperation and match day behaviours the performances became automatic and the match results followed. It was all about the process the results were expected not just desired. For example look at Michael Carrick's testimonial. The line up was made up of players from 2006-2013 the positioning, passing, general play in the first half was just like watching a match from any season of that period. The play was so well drilled and second nature that years after retirements and playing under different managers it was identical and appeared just as effective. When SAF retired United changed not just the manager but the key coaching staff. The approach to games changed. Scholes who could not be perfectly replaced was replaced with someone who plays a totally different game. So not only the approach had changed but so had the pattern of play. United was a formula one car being asked to do ralley time trials with a change of driver and tyres. It was not what the team was built for or where it was expected to perform. Precision watch making equipment used by a sausage fingered clown as a hammer might be a bit harsh on Moyes, but really there are few managers who could really have taken over and maintained the prep levels and methodology. Mourinho at this time rather than later maybe. But even then he would have to content with Woodward being unable to secure a solid cm.
After this Real Madrid win vs Sir Alex, Mourinho said something along the lines "the better team didn't win today. At 11 vs 11 I doubt we would win the match."
m6500 d1 200 my point is that ManCity last season was very similar to SAF’s last squad, except (though I hate to admit it) better. Which shows just how much more effective Ferguson is in utilizing his team compared to Guardiola
@@pacopiedad6182 different tactics.. incomparable.. SAF cant pull a tiki taka, neither pep do SAF tactics.. there a types of manager, one is that came with a certain solid tactics and 2nd is adapting to whatever players and games he had on the job.. the 2nd one is usually managers that signed in january or to save from relegation etc etc.. SAF and mourinho is more of a 2nd, while pep is a solid 1st..
Sir alex is the GOAT of managers to achieve constant success with little spending and with average players is exceptional, never moaned about not getting his first choice targets never moaned about lack of spendings and certainly never moaned and criticized his own players he made the likes of Wes brown , Park ji sung , Welbeck , Anderson and so many more look world class at times.
in this season mu had 71 years old Ferguson 39 years old Giggs 38 years old Scholes 33 years old Rio 32 years old Vidic 31 years old Evra 31 years old Carrick 29 years old RVP and Jones, Smalling, Buttner, Cleverley, Anderson, Fletcher, Powell, Welbeck, Lingardinho as successor SAF still manages to win the league with this team
He had Young and Valencia giving solid service on the wings and Wayne Rooney had an effective partnership with RVP. De Gea was also playing well in goal. GK De Gea/ Linderguard RB Smalling/Jones CB Ferdinand CB Vidic/Evans LB Evra/Buttner CM Carrick/Scholes/Giggs/Fletcher CM Cleaverley/Anderson/Kagawa RM Valencia LM Young/Nani St RVP/ Rooney/ Hernandez/Welbeck The midfield depth is judged unfairly as Fletcher had a terrible problem with Crohns disease which blighted the later half of his career and stopped him playing much that season. Kagawa was underrated and underused by SAF and Moyes. Giggs and Scholes played equally well and got a good amount of games between them. This is an underrated and solid deep squad that worked hard and played well for each other.
Liverpool fan here. Sir alex the greatest ever no one comes close. Pep fruadiola, mourinho, ancelotti dont even come close. Only shankly, paisley and sir Matt Busby are worth a shout.
Niv Football you just have to listen to the city players talk about Guardiola, listen to the attitude he has instilled in the club to know that he's a brilliant manager. Attitude, team spirit, everyone knowing their job is why it's now 18 wins on the bounce
Sam There is a kind blip because of the truckload of money from selling Coutinho, but Liverpool has been EARNING money on the transfer market. Liverpool punch far above their weight when it comes to either net purchases or salaries, separately, or combined. People who want to complain about Klopp and money should buy a Spurs jersey.
@Sam True -- it is not really a business plan to sell players; but my point is to put some perspective on this alleged "spending spee". Fans of other clubs see VVD and Becker and Shaqiri, and turn green with envy. Well, LP sold Coutinho and and an additional 110mill(!!!) of not big name players in the last 18 months, and REINVESTED in the club. Obviously they were thinking about what 3 great players they could now afford by letting Philippe go to Barca. Seeing a club run well is both confusing and a cause for further jealous to a lot of football fans.
i thought pretty much anyone could win a title with man utd then came moyes and the other managers and they didnt win it either making him a greater manager than i already thought he was
It really showed how the Glazer have taken the piss, if United had been spending close to their rivals since they had taken over they's be a lot stronger when he left.
Incredible how bad they were the following year with essentially the same roster. I think Van Persie was injured most of the season but it truly showed the difference between Sir Alex and a random aaa clown like David Moyes at the helm. Everyone assumed once Ronaldo left that United would severely fall off but it wasn’t the case at all. Made it to the champions league final again in 2010-11 only to lose to what I consider the greatest club team ever.. the 2009-2012 Barcelona team which had Xavi and Iniesta at their prime, arguably Messi’s best ever years along with David Villa and Pedro completing the front 3... if not for that amazing Pep Guardiola side I think United would have won champions league again
True if Guardiolas Barcelona didn't exist, united would have 5 cl titles. And if we weren't so unlucky to face real Madrid in last 16, considering the fact that we came 1st in our group and the number of teams that we were eligible to play against then we would of made it at least the semis
That season SAF knew he can't rely on his defense and also he lost the previous season title to goal difference, so he bought the best striker in the league to ensure that won't happen again. Say whatever you like about the man, he is a dinosaur, but a very dangerous one. He can make a title winning team with shitty defense and crappy midfield. Give the same team to Pep or Klopp, will they get same result??
That "shitty defence" still scored more combined than I can recall ManUtd defenders scoring in other seasons maybe apart from when Steve Bruce or DenisIrwin used to take pens. It was also a midfield which probably had the most amount of different midfield goalscorers in 2012/13.
Fergie was planning to retire at the end of the 11-12 season if United had managed to win the league as he really the current squad was coming close to the end of it's cycle and wanted to go out on a high, luckily due to VP's goals and managing to squeeze one more good season out of his players he won it in 12-13. But it was obvious by what happened to Moyes, that he wasn't going to be able to do the same and the over 30s club/Fergie Favourites weren't going to give him enough time to rebuild properly. Only signing Mata and Felliani (who ironically have both proven to be good signings as they are still there now and involved in the team regularly) was not enough. If Mourinho can win the League this season having inherited players from Fergie, Moyes and LVG as well as blending in his own signings into the team, it will really show what a great manager he is. If he can then bring that 4th European Cup to add to the Europa League before he goes off to his next project, he will go down as one of United's legends. Either way it's nice to be genuine challengers again rather than competing for a Top 4 position and a cup competition on the side. (We'll leave that kind of thing to the Goons)
Doubtful if they will win the league this season, they're currently 4/1 with the bookies while City are 2/5, which seems about right. Absolutely no chance of winning the Champions League.
I don't know how to explain this as a casual follower, but it always seemed like Ferguson at all times knew how his players could grow within the team over the years. He knew how to mold them too, and as a Korean, I saw how much Park grew as a player in MU.
Greatest football coach of all time. Hes the type of coach you'd run through a brick wall for and then he'd ask you to do it again. Even though you were bruised and bloodied you smile and do it. A man manager never mind the tactics.
Like you said, he engineered it. He won it at all costs, breaking his transfer policy of not buying older players (van persie 29) and leaving David moyes with the worst utd squad in years. Losing players like Paul pogba for next to nothing and having to buy him back for 100 million. His legacy of an awful squad was down to his desperation to end by winning the league. It might have been a great win, but at what cost.
Arsenal so poorly run and incompetent let van persie go to United for only 24 mill and still hasn't really replaced him, all these years later the same again with Sanchez being in the last year of his contract. Ferguson was immense. The greatest manager we will ever see anywhere
De Gea isn't integral to how Utd. Play... He's just a shot-stopper, admittedly a very talented one, but the team would concede only a few more goals without him.
Every time your mouth is dripping with saliva talking about Pep, Allegri, Zidane, Klopp, Heinkes, Ancelotti, Hitzfeld, Capello, Wenger and even Mourinho, Lippi, Cruyff, Sacchi, watch his video and watch it again.

Chelsea had Jesus on their side. The only luck United had was when they scored 2 stoppage time goals against Munich

All true, and that's what makes SAF even greater to us and to the rest of the world.
And could have even defeated Real Madrid if it wasn't for that questionable red.
As a Utd fan I had goosebumps while watching this video
Miss him. He was the manager throughout most of my life. With mourinho if it's true talking about PSG, things will never be the same. Sir Alex WAS Manchester United.
Enjoy it. It wont happen again! Manchester is blue while pep is around
The Fearless Number 8 just wait and see...

Me too!
In this one season, RVP was more successful than he ever was at arsenal.
But , the video makes out it was a master piece by Fergy! Vpersie was the number 1 target for many clubs inc City. he was in big demand! he chose Utd because of a kid hood thing. Getting Van P was the Ovb move for Utd. not some shock
And no surprise to me, that he added the goals to push the 1st or 2nd best team over the line.
@SB1 Fitness i think by succesful i think he meant becoming a WINNER
RVP is ManU legend now not Arsenal haha
Van Per-sie, when a girl says no, molest her.
SB1 Fitness yeah but the thing is at United his goals counts for something as it win the title at arsenal he scored but it’s was to seal 4th place always
"I'm a dinosaur, I'm an absolute dinosaur. But what I am.... Im a winner" what a fucking quote. That he went and backed up makes it more special
Doesn't make sense though................
Don't Talk Shit yea i dont get it either :/
Apolinar Lopez people were saying that modern football has changed. and he is stuck in old ways of football. Him and wenger dinosaurs. So that quote is him saying even though i am a dinosaur I will always be a winner. And he proved it.
Niv Football yeah but the phrasing is all wrong...if his second statement started with "BUT what I am", then his first statement should've been "I am NOT [something]"....just saying
Don't Talk Shit yea I get what you mean. Was not worded in the best way but it doesn't matter anyone with half a brain understood what he meant.
Sir Alex won the league with 2 34+ year old center backs pep could never
animation Parmar Alex Ferguson won multiple league titles with bang average players, that man was an animal!!
There was a time where he put 6 defenders on the field. If I'm not wrong, its against Arsenal. And United wins.
John Tampi Yes, he put 7 natural defenders in the starting line up and still managed to beat Arsenal 2-0
animation Parmar ...stop with stupid comparisons of Fergie and Pep he's managed 20+ more years. 29 goals in 8 games.
Yatesy Wooooow 29 goal’s in 8 games. What does that win you at the moment? Until he wins the league that statistic don’t mean shit. Fucking idiot
Ferguson's greatness can be understood even better when u consider how awful David Moyes was the next season with the same team!!
it's not the same team. ferguson left just when 90% of the team was getting old and not good enough anymore. he left just in time so he didn't have to get through the rebuild. even if he stayed, united would have struggled.
Kopite Hmm. Good point. But Moyes didn't make it easy for himself when he asked Vidic to learn defending from Jagielka. Imo Moyes was a good choice, better than Van Gaal for sure, and deserved much more time. But Ferguson has no comparison.
The 90s Myth Moyes was a good choice?😂 No he wasn't lmfao the man only finished in top 4 once. United could have gotten Mourinho instead
Greatest Manager ever!
+MultiNoNamex anyone else agree?
surely no one would disagree
I do
Bob Paisley?
Givano Petersen who is that?
Bogi Delanov mourinho was pitching for the United job he already soured his real madrid relationship by then
@TheLusianPopa Manchester United had 89 points in 2012/13
Real Madrid had 85 points in 2012/13.
you guys have taught me too much football
Such a bullshit decision. I was so tilted by it.
SOLID MATTIC I'm still tilted by it, I have special hate for that bastard
It was a clear red card, only United fans think it was harsh
fkbl1 it was clear red if you are a blind dumbass
@fkbl1
From your comment, I think only a few things are clear:
Could you do Moyes tatics the year after be interesting to see a full depth analysis between fergies winning squad to moyes 7th
well that's really simple He was just shit
When marouane fellaini is your first signing You know you fucked up
rgejsv moyes mistake 1: tried to change too much too quickly.... he sacked the multiple title winning staff for his own and totally changed fitness regimes which took its toll on players like rooney giggs rvp.
Lukaku was very good for you guys that season!
The greatest there was, the greatest there is, the greatest there ever will be. Sir Alex Ferguson💯
Chicharito was more than influencial despite being a super sub. What a great season for United
they conceded 3 to us (Reading) and still won 4-3 that just shows how good they were up front and how bad defensively
Gareth Gunter weren't Vidic Ferdinand and Evra still around?
They were around but in their 30s, Ferdinand was like 34
I wouldnt say they were bad defensively. Its just that they were never satisfied with anything less than a win and most of the times it came down to scoring 1 more goal than the opposition. What a manager.
@Gareth Gunter
And I recall ManUtd had a goal from v.Persie wrongly disallowed in that game for offside should've been 3-5.
You were using in the Champions league Trophy when talking about the Premier league at the beginning and end of the video!
So weird because it's such a well made video with such an obvious error 😂
Honestly your best video imo. Thanks for mentioning Sir Alex's speech and how unlucky we were in the champions league.
+20 Times Man United thanks pal - Danny
A scouser I used to know in 2008 said “all of the other teams are just waiting for Ferguson to retire.. then everybody else will get a chance.” Since then 4 different champions in 7 years and not one of them being united. He was right. United lost the edge when they lost sir Alex
Still true to this day.
Don’t forget how incredible Phil Jones was at RMFC. He man marked the crap out of Ronaldo

Finally someone actually made a video about this!
Simply the goat.
goat? are you a shepard, or a perv?
This season could end up being their best since Fergie but that would be a third place finish with exciting football for once and maybe a Europa league
Crazy what a good manager Fergie was
@@Amaling its shocking that people can call Manchester United 2012 bad even though we got 89 points now we get 66
kev in exactly, i hate when people criticise Cleverley, Jones, Anderson, rafael, fabio , etc.
Best manager of all time. From an arsenal fan. There’s no question. He was so good
Greatest manager ever coming from an Arsenal fan!

After this Real Madrid win vs Sir Alex, Mourinho said something along the lines "the better team didn't win today. At 11 vs 11 I doubt we would win the match."
How he won the premiership with that team proves he is the best manager ever
That 5-5 was hilarious hahaha...

He had Young and Valencia giving solid service on the wings and Wayne Rooney had an effective partnership with RVP. De Gea was also playing well in goal.
GK De Gea/ Linderguard
RB Smalling/Jones
CB Ferdinand
CB Vidic/Evans
LB Evra/Buttner
CM Carrick/Scholes/Giggs/Fletcher
CM Cleaverley/Anderson/Kagawa
RM Valencia
LM Young/Nani
St RVP/ Rooney/ Hernandez/Welbeck
The midfield depth is judged unfairly as Fletcher had a terrible problem with Crohns disease which blighted the later half of his career and stopped him playing much that season. Kagawa was underrated and underused by SAF and Moyes. Giggs and Scholes played equally well and got a good amount of games between them.
This is an underrated and solid deep squad that worked hard and played well for each other.
It was very insightful video of Sir Alex's last season.
Liverpool fan here. Sir alex the greatest ever no one comes close. Pep fruadiola, mourinho, ancelotti dont even come close.
Only shankly, paisley and sir Matt Busby are worth a shout.

One of the best produced/designed Tifo videos. Top stuff.
It really showed how the Glazer have taken the piss, if United had been spending close to their rivals since they had taken over they's be a lot stronger when he left.
Van Persie acquisition was a master move. He was used specifically to win the league for SAF final season by scoring important goals.
@@kevin-pu2lx That's happened 3 times faced RMadrid in knockout after topping the group 1999/00, 2002/03 & 2012/13.
As a fan of Man. United it was pretty awesome to see them concede 1 - 2 goals going to half time and then scoring 2 -3 goals in the 2nd half.
Give the same team to Pep or Klopp, will they get same result??
no.. these two had certain tactics that wont work with mere quality.. klopp before van djik and city before ederson and laporte are easy example..
That "shitty defence" still scored more combined than I can recall ManUtd defenders scoring in other seasons maybe apart from when Steve Bruce or DenisIrwin used to take pens.
It was also a midfield which probably had the most amount of different midfield goalscorers in 2012/13.
This season proved, undoubtedly for me, that he really was the best manager of all time in the Premier League. And in contention for all time
Ironically, this was Fergie's 'Wilkinson Leeds' title, a squad that clearly wasn't the best managed to perfection.
Hands down the best football channel on RUclips! Can you guys also do Van Gaal and what went wrong? Sorry, I love the Man U videos.
This really didnt age well
Still remember that Madrid game, ridiculous sending off total madness.
Dad: "Why are you crying so damn loud?"
I don't know how to explain this as a casual follower, but it always seemed like Ferguson at all times knew how his players could grow within the team over the years. He knew how to mold them too, and as a Korean, I saw how much Park grew as a player in MU.
After 27 years as manager Man United has had 3 different managers since Fergie left.
That's sad.
Actually 4 (5 if you count giggsy interim)
I always remember Manchester United Champion that years same with my birthday 22 April.
Arsenal so poorly run and incompetent let van persie go to United for only 24 mill and still hasn't really replaced him, all these years later the same again with Sanchez being in the last year of his contract. Ferguson was immense. The greatest manager we will ever see anywhere
Best art style yet, looks so much better
Hey,could you please talk about the importance of De Gea and Pogba for United on your next podcast?
De Gea isn't integral to how Utd. Play... He's just a shot-stopper, admittedly a very talented one, but the team would concede only a few more goals without him.
Oliver Archangeli No,but his talent alone saves us on many occasions.
The video give me goosebump

Great recap mate!
Thanks Jake!
They are the ones who made a difference. Only to blinkered Brits Ferguson belongs in that list. He doesn't.
@@vikramsid Clueless football "fan". You're probably just 15 years old at most. Name a manager who tactically adapted and engineered constant success for a club in over a period of 27 years.
supersbbrawl4ever pep creates arguably the greatest side of all time though. The Barca squad between 09-13
cruyff and SAF are the best managers of all time in my opinion
Just discovered Tifo and these videos are dope! Keep them coming please
Matteo tactics to win The champions league pls
SI S The tactics was that Jesus was on their side. I’ve never seen such a fortunate Champions League campaign.
Bayern should’ve won actually, if Robben had scored that penalty, things would’ve been different..
I've seen actually such a fortunate UCL campaign, Man Utd in 1999.
Kopite I’m sure Chelsea were more fortunate when they faced Barcelona and then Bayern Munich and both of those ties both teams missed penalties and golden opportunities to win the games. Chelsea had Jesus on their side. The only luck United had was when they scored 2 stoppage time goals against Munich
Kopite Yes because making it out of a group of Bayern and Barcelona, going on to play Inter, Juve and then Bayern in the final was a doddle. Oh and this was after winning the FA Cup and the League.
You remember winning the league right? Pure cakewalk right?
Poaching Van perse was a masterclass. VPS best 2 seasons in his career. Last one at arsenal and first at utd.
