Bill first learned to fly in his younger years. He went off to the Navy for years, decades later after retiring he decided to follow his passion for airplanes once again. This time he asked around and decided to buy an homebuilt kit from Zenith. He is currently in the final stages of building his own airplane.
Most of the build and work were done right in his garage. Now his is working out of a much larger hanger to complete the airplane. Bill’s engine of choice is A UL power engine with 130 horse power. He prefers the UL to Rotax engine mainly because Rotax engines are liquid cooled and he wanted an Air-cool engine. He expects excellent climbing performance and cruise speeds of 120 knots from the UL.
Bill’s Zenith CH 750 Cruzer is expected to be completed by March 15 2018. The airplane will seat 2 people comfortable and cruise at a respectable 134 miles per hour while only burning 6 gallons per hour. He plans to sell this airplane and build another one in the future.
Below are some of the specs from his build
Engine: ul350is
Cruise speed: 120 knots
Fuel consumption: 6 gallons per hour
Price: $75,000
Cost Break down.
BODY FRAME: $26,000
UL350IS ENGINE: $25,000
DYNON SKYVIEW: $15,000
TOOL/MISC: $9000

Hopefully you are going to visit bill again so we can see it finished and flying 👍
Man, this is one of the coolest airplanes out there. So practical and rugged.
Zenith is such a powerful contender in the non-part 23 space. Really attractive from many aspects. Another nice piece, Mike. Thanks.
Oh yeah! Zenith's are just joys to work on and fly. We have a few up in Oshkosh for EAA and they went together like an erector set! Great stick and rudder platform, a real pilot's airplane.
Zenith designs just wonderful stick and rudder aircraft. I wish Bill a lot of safe and wonderful hours flying!
That was a great interview you did with Bill. Please see him again after the build is complete. I would love to see it fly and see what paint he put on it. Good questions asked also.
I've come across a good bit of your videos. I don't really care about half of the aircraft you've covered but I enjoy your content. You've earned my subscription at this point. If you're ever in the east coast and need a co-pilot, hit me up. I'm almost done with my instrument.
thank you again Mike for the great video, Bill thank you too for leting us see the progress on your bird (great work for one year work, keep on) Zenith are a fun affordable airplanes which make them great, Salam (peace from Algeria).
Great video with excellent interview questions! Thank you.
My thoughts exactly.
Good specs on this airplane. Sure beats flying an antique spam can.
I'd love it if you updated us on Bill's progress, Mike. I love this plane and dream( pipe dream, i know☺) of one day owning one.
Looks awesome what a build.....
Another fantastic video 👍😀. I really look forward to each of your videos. Great content and variety 😀
The interviewer asks intelligent questions... Good job.
Air cooled and fuel injected? That's awesome!
I just discovered your channel and subbed. You really ask good interview questions. All the things I would have asked.
Great video. Good job!
I'd like bills info if possible, since he's going to be building and selling this and other planes. I'm interested in buying one he's already built that price is within my range of owning my first plane. Thanks and keep giving us these GREAT videos
11:50 Bill didn't mention paint cost. Any update on Bill's plane? I might be the person to buy it if he is ready to let it go!
1500 hours? That's what I need to scratch build my cruzer, from the kit it's 500 hrs
1:30 "whats this material?" does it look like composite? fabric? did you think it was stainless steel?
THANK YOU SIR
Thankyou for the information!!! Would pilots be interested in a ultra light weight material for paint protection thats invisible and frictionless??
nice kit
How is Bill doing with his build? Is it in the air yet?
i think that with all finishing will be over 80k....and anyway, he will sell it after (already build) with min. 150k maybe, so it`s in a price range of other similar size airplanes, but i think it worthy, me i like zenith stol
Wow...that engine sure hangs out pretty far from the firewall...
Can you tell Bill I would be interested in buying his plane when he is ready to sell it.
If you're for real, I'll let him know.
MojoGrip I am for real. Been shopping for a year and dont want to build. Bill can contact me via email then I will give him my phone number. Grose@gvrose.com
MojoGrip have you had a chance to contact Bill?
I've forwarded your email. I'll let you know if I hear back or he might reach out to you directly.
Hey Gord, not sure if I updated you on Bill. He told me that he'll keep you in mind when he's ready to sell.
How does the zenith super duty compare to the kitfox 915si?
DO your own research
Round the world in 80 days lol
This is a workhorse of an airplane. But I hate the seating. Can never sit in it for more than an hour. But can land anywhere u want to.
You must be talking about the 701. The adjustable seats in my CH750 Cruzer are awesome. Very comfortable!
STOL Pilot wow I did not know that. That would be perfect.
How do I get a hold of Bill.....I'm interested in buying a complete Cruzer:)?
sorry you cannot
I want conventional landing gear. I’ve seen this airplane setup like this but I can’t get past the way it looks.
Take it from a guy who has been flying with Rotax engines (912 etc) for over 20 years: everything Bill said about Rotax is just hear say and no actual experience.
I think you can get a fuel injected Rotax or a 914 for the price of a UL Power engine!
Rotax engines are maybe too good .In the UK they are getting stolen at a concerning rate .
80000؟!!!
Congrats to Bill for getting it done. It's amazing. Zenith is a great flyer, but man is it ugly. ))
Form follows function
Reminds me Phil Bolger, a contemporary boat designer with many flat-bottomed boats which often were criticized for ugliness. Nonetheless, he and his boats were good.
@@zenithac not really, but tell us how
no it is not alluminum but alluminium
aluminum
Or pay £10’000 for a ready built well know C152 and the like. 80’000 for this seems ALOT
