  • Hallelujah! Christ is risen indeed!
Wishing a very Happy Easter to my gardening community!
This video is all about the process of growing Wildflowers in Austin Texas. Last October I planted a Wildflower seed mix, and some bluebonnets on my property. Its been really fun to look back at the progress we've seen over the last 6 months!
Here in Zone 8B we usually don't have such rough winters, but with winter storm Uri, this last winter set some records and was really hard on the garden. Despite it all, this spring my wildflower beds have bloomed and are doing great! Texas is a beautiful state, and it's wildflowers are iconic. These colorful flowers help with pollination for my vegetable garden, and I think they show how beautiful creation can be!
Thanks again for watching Austin Texas Gardening!

Update: We sold this house in 2021, but we still visit some of our old neighbors, and I noticed the bluebonnets came back VERY strong in spring 2022 (of course I didnt take a picture because that would be creepy)

Unfortunately I sold my house and moved away last fall so I cant film it, but I was hanging out with some old neighbors and walked past a few weeks ago, the fig tree looked awesome, it was nearly 4 feet tall! I just planted a few more fig trees in my backyard at the new place!

Found you through Reddit, nice place. We just put in about 50 fruit and nut trees on our channel. Love the flower mix you made. I'm gonna need to find where you got all of those.

I am new to gardening and planted some native wildflowers in pots. They’ve been growing like crazy already.

Congrats, Charity! At the beginning of the video, I was kind of salty on your behalf, haha. Boo got baptized (I wrote engaged and married for some reason), and no shout out?!?! Then I watched to the end. Crisis averted!

Thanks so much for the video! I planted wildflowers after the freeze based on the instructions on the bag I purchased online (I actually ordered them a long time ago) so they are growing but tiny. I didn't know you had to start early! I will in 2021 thanks to your video.
An aside - my huge fig tree in the backyard (too big to cover) got wrecked by the freeze, it still has no leaves on the ends :( it's not dead but it sure is a sad sight.

I hope youre wildflowers bloom this Aug/Sep and turn out great next spring! And about your fig tree - give it a chance - I hope it turns out the same way as my olive tree and comes back from the root!

The pink flower with lots of little flowers all over it may have been phlox. Nice work on the garden...glad to hear some came back this year. Hope you have more at the new place!

Those are great. You sowed them too thick. Some of them get big. I use the same ones. I'm on year 3 and they keep coming back.

I bought the same ones and just sewed them! Only thing is that I read they don’t grow well through mulch so many that inhibited it a bit.

Hey man. I love the heart and desire behind this effort, but as a biologist in the Austin area I have a plea for you. Please use only native species! Much of what you planted in the video is not native to our area of Texas. Our nature preserves are filled with exotic plants that escape people's yards and invade our native habitats wreaking havoc. By sticking ONLY to native species, we can avoid this and be better stewards of God's creation. Peace and blessings!

Yes, I've found that despite being called "Texas wildflower mix", Crimson clover isnt from around here.
These days, I do only bluebonnets ruclips.net/video/uNTUuZheyZs/видео.htmlsi=-oFgOP7sVr-ht2DA
