Holy shit we recorded this like 20 minutes ago I did not at all expect it already anyway Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise is the best game on the PS4
Almost two hours of The Yakuza 4, peak 🍷 Edit: I personally will watch a podcast on anything, doesn't even have to be RE, Yakuza, or DMC. Trails and Ace Attorney kinda stuff will be amazing though. Also, here's a random 🍌 ;)
Imagine a new Judgement game where Genda is killed off due to his VA passing away and his dying wish was to have his ashes brought to Hawaii, and then it becomes a split protagonist type of deal where Yagami is playable in Hawaii and Kaito is playable in Japan
I still think it would be cool to see an early 90s Yakuza game where you actually play as Kiryu working his way up the ranks before the beginning of Yakuza 1.
oh cmon lets him rest for fucks sake. We still have Saejima, Akiyama, Shinada, Tanimura (but hes pretty much dead). We have other protags edit: how could i forgot a solo Majima game
fantastic idea but the thing is that the game always tries to steer you away from being in the yakuza. In almost every game where the MC is apart of the yakuza, they are normally removed from it within 1 chapter of their introduction. But It would be amazing to see the rise of Kiryu
They're selling that bundle without Yakuza 0 and and advertising it. I wonder if the show and the game are gonna be tied together and this new game is somehow gonna retcon 0
I think an episode where you all collectively make a Yakuza tierlist would be solid. It’d be fun seeing you guys lock horns over how certain Yakuza games should be ranked, and it’d also be an avenue to get raw opinions on all of the games from you guys. Granted, something of that caliber would probably need to be split into multiple parts, but that’s just more episodes to look forward to in my eyes.
I think it's impossible but just an opinion A game that's gonna surprise fans ? A kurohyo port to console's and pc The idea is kinda stupid tbh but it makes me wonder
Since you guys brought up Infinite Wealth's final boss, it reminded me of an opinion I've had regarding my thoughts on it. Spoilers below ofc: I remember people bringing up constantly on how Shishido was Aizawa done right or that he was a better version of Aizawa. It made me realize that if he was Aizawa 2.0, both Bryce and Ebina felt more to me like Aizawa 1.5 primarily because they share similar problems that Aizawa had where they work so much better as thematic boss fights in respect to who's fighting them (Ichiban and Bryce/Kiryu and Ebina) but as actual characters they kinda suffer in that regard. I wouldn't say they're as egregious as Aizawa because at least the two of them have a constant presence throughout the story but they still share the issues I have with Aizawa as the final fight.
25:30 GINTAMA TALK SPOTTED Goatkudoni being based once again I feel very validated knowing that someone other than me wants an RGG developed gintama game
The thing with Infinite Wealth was that it felt like an ending. A lot like Endgame did for the MCU. The franchise would be best off starting a whole new story to generate interest and leave Kiryu alone from now on.
@rileywoodruff2160 something like Komaki where he shows up to teach you things and occasionally rallies enough for a fight. Make one of his tests fighting Dragon Mask Jr., Taichi's old enough to throw hands by now
Random but in infinite wealth the Danny Trejo first boss encounter in his high rise building is a thing of beauty. The views, his acting, the fight itself, the attention to detail love it
Unless I missed it, I'm surprised no one put a fantasy rpg for a possible next game. Kiryu has the stoic samurai side games (and Dead Souls). An Ichiban side game could basically be Dragon Quest.
I'll tell you the next game! It'll be Like a dragon gaiden: Aizawa its been 10yrs holy fuck (Aib10hf) its about Aizawa finally getting out of prison and taking what kiryu said to heart all of those years ago. theres a catch tho: its a fire emblem esque strategy game. But for real tho, if I wanted another yakuza game, it'd be a game with daigo as the protagnist after infinite wealth. now that he isn't really a chairman anymore, they can explore he feels about being free from such a big responsibility for all of those years. maybe allow himself to be more easy going at points.
I'm still having hopes for a Ryuji Gaiden game, all the references to him in Gaiden, the fact that his picture wasn't at that Funeral event and that already existing Screenshot making me think they are planning something with him. That or a Ichiban Gaiden in which he gets his own fighting style maybe with Kiryu as a teacher.
Just started watching the podcast, I am going to make my prediction that we are gonna get Ryuji Gaiden spinoff (I still hold onto that leak from how many years ago)
Yakuza Gaiden 2 you play as Shishido and Nishitani III working for the Daidoji🔥. I kinda want a Yakuza X Crossover fighting game ngl. Preferrably Kengan.
Banana Edit: in regards to non-Yakuza podcasts I think it would be good oppprtunity for engaging in media you don't normally experience like different game series and maybe anime.
I play every RGG game, and I’m excited for whatever it is they’re gonna announce tbh. I do hope we get K3 at some point within the next couple of years.
banana! it's great to see and listen to you guys again :D even though you guys mainly talk about RGG topics, I really do enjoy the random off-topic chats! it feels a lot more relaxing and fun maybe you guys can talk about childhood games or have more tin-foil hat theories :)
I bet the game isn't yakuza 9, but a follow up. Someone mentioned Akiyama and either goku or snow mentioned the guys from judgement. I think they would focus on Akiyama hiring those two on finding kiryu.
I think maybe for the live action they're going the og yakuza 1 script where haruka didn't exist yet, which could work because then it would make the story more gritty and serious. But then it would remove a huge part of Kiryu's story and motivation, so idk. We'll see. And also, banana.
I think revelations are such a versatile mechanic that rgg could do a lot with and yet rgg kind of diminished them. But for the next mainline rpg I feel like it would be really cool if they did something with them. Like maybe once you get to a certain level a job could "advance" to a higher level job with a revelation A wild idea but, I've always been kind of disappointed that you just get jobs from the hob centre, when I first played 7 Imagined doing jobs to unlock classes. And so I think it would be really cool if you unlocked jobs by going to a place getting a job doing like a minigame and getting a revelation. Like in thinking like in Yakuza 5 where you do the ramen minigame, imagine unlocking ramen chef there. It would definitely be more confusing than just being able to pick jobs but I sometimes like that in a game
100% the tokoryu is gonna be part of the next game, for the show all we need to know is that yokoyama needed an smoke break after seeing the first episode its gonna be either really good or bad.
The show trailer has made me do a casual run of Yakuza Kiwami. (Yes I have played Yakuza 0 twice so I am fine 😅) been having fun though, this is my 3rd time going through Yakuza Kiwami's story.
Alright, real talk though, I would actually love to see a spin off version of Yakuza but in a cyberpunk sort of setting. Then they could do like really unique fighting styles should it still be a beat-em up
I think a 3rd Judgment game with Kimura is likely to happen, now that the talent agency he was under contract with is quite probably going to close its doors, if it hasn’t already. If he doesn’t come back I would love to see Akiyama replace Yagami. He would be perfect in the role of a detective (see Y5). I would love a Gaiden like game with the Jimas. RGG did them dirty in IW. They were hardly in the game.
It was alot fun seen the gang again 🍌 As the for the game i would personally like something off wall a game where rgg all out As for the show am genuinely curious
People keep saying the yakuza 4, but im more in line with the Banana 4, lol For an idea to talk about on the next podcast, id recommend you all talk about non rgg series that are your favorites, like how trails was brought up in this one(Leon if youre beaten to the punch, you can always talk about resident evil)

We need a part in the live action where kiryu holds that guy up in the restaurant as a human shield. And says "I don't kill".

They could also have Saori take over the Genda Law Office
This sounds familiar
I actually see it more likely that Yagami would send Kaito to Hawaii while he handles things in Japan. Kaito just has that Hawaiian style going.

They're selling that bundle without Yakuza 0 and and advertising it. I wonder if the show and the game are gonna be tied together and this new game is somehow gonna retcon 0

Great stuff as always y'all!
The thing with Infinite Wealth was that it felt like an ending. A lot like Endgame did for the MCU. The franchise would be best off starting a whole new story to generate interest and leave Kiryu alone from now on.
I would like to see kiryu as a npc in future games, but yeah as a protagonist his time is over.
