Great review. I just purchased this Chromebook. It works well overall. I only have a few complaints about it. The screen quality is only average and does not have anti-glare or IPS. I also don't get anywhere near 13 hours of battery life. I only get about 8-9 hours. I also wish the screen tilted backwards just a slight bit more. Other than that, it does seem rugged and looks attractive. Performance is nice and zippy. The backlit keyboard is a nice touch. I also like the USB-C, which saves room from having to lug around those power bricks.

@@vickytauf5440Yes. You can get Microsoft Office for Android (which works on Chromebook) for free, and then get Microsoft 365 to unlock the premium features.
Which processor? I saw one on Amazon and it has Amd ryzen but in every review I see Intel celeron one

I bought an HP 14 Chromebook late 2014 with 4Mb RAM and I am still using it today May 2020 and am very happy with it. To travel I shortly thereafter bought the HP 11 Chromebook with 2Mb RAM and even that I am still using today and am very happy with it too. In fact recent ChromeOS updates have sped up them bought.
Which HP chromebook 11 do u have? G3? Or something else? I'm thinking of buying a hp chromebook 11 g3 but I'm not sure. It's 4gb ram and 16gb mem.

Looks like a great Chromebook to me! I know that 6 years of support doesn’t sound like a lot, but there are 2014 MacBooks that Apple has recently declared to be vintage, and those cost a lot more then this device does.
the question is will this even be usable in 6 years? lol
its okay after 3-4 years you can buy a new one it doesnt hurt

The display quality is something else on this chrombook. I’m not really sure what it is but the display colours and contrast are better than high end laptops. There is no white blurry look when screen tilts one way or another. Overall the device is fast enough for media consumption and day to day use. Great review as well.
Thank you for the review. I needed a budget price Chromebook fast and ordered this. It'll do what I need it to do ( no touchscreen which is what I prefer but hey--I'll get a touchscreen model at a later date when budget allows). I am a Linux person too so interesting that it allows for some Linux applications. I liken your two vintage computers in the background!

Yes it’s a touch screen and the battery life is a BEAST! It’s simple and basic! I have two iPads, iPhone, Mac desktop that’s on its last leg, that’s why I wanted something different and this is it!

Nice n light laptop. Good for surfing and school work but had to send it to HP for repairs. Screen turn black even though power button light is on. Would not turn back in and had to factory reset a few times. Started happening after 2 and 1/2 months of purchase. Good review work on your part [as always]... Keep up the good work.

I've had a couple acer chromebooks in the past mainly for the android apps inclusion but never really took to it. Now with DeX out on my note9 I just use that.

I think the 1080p option really makes this laptop a good value, along with the 16gb of ram and possibly even the quadcore processor upgrade. All that can still be had for $419.99 so really a good deal for a great portable utilitarian laptop with solidly good battery life too.
You know, this thing might actually be a better value than a MacBook Air and a Pixel Book Go, and even a better value than the Dell Inspiron 7000. Especially if you choose some options with the main one the 1080p display option.

the 720p screen is trash, the n4000 has an 1080p ips on it, and thats the strong point of this device ESPECIALLY when compared to other laptops in this price range

@@diezgp personally I think this will be easier to use because of the size of your type. Duet is smaller and the keyboard is cramped. At least for me.

@@diezgp Lenovo flex looks amazing only the price tag is heavier so if your willing to pay $410 go for it.
I just bought this laptop after watching the reviews but the version I got is na0019TU which does not have back-light keyboard, so please check the model reviewing as before buying

If it's a native Android app then yes. If it's available for Linux then yes. If it's a website, yes. If it's an app that runs in Windows or Mac OS, no.
Got it at target on sale for 200 and needed a laptop but it’s just not that bad. Does run a tad slow once every now and then and the screen quality it’s the best but it’s alright
In this price range or segment, i think that this device is absolutely better choice because it has the resolution of 1080p or full hd quality and it's built quality is also more better and it has launched newest different features in this device and best part of this hp laptops is it's amazing reliability.

I have a upgraded 14c model with a backlit, not this model but similar, because mine has 8gb ram and an i3
You can always use crouton for much better performance.

I can't believe out of all the comments, no one mentioned any webcam issues!! This is not a great choice for anything that has to do with using its built in camera. Mine worked great for the first 6 months or so, now when I launch the camera app, it shows a black screen with a tinty camera icon in the middle- no buttons, menu, shutter, etc. * And before anyone says PRIVACY SWITCH- no, this one does not have one.
