Hello again, thanks for checking the video. Hope you like it and good to know you're a fan of your 14a. It's a great model series and offers really good value. Please so check out some of the other Chromebooks on the channel and hope you'll consider a sub 😎
Hi, I'm looking for a Chromebook for my 10 year old and considering the HP 14a-na0510sa version of this on eBay for £230 (8GB RAM / 128GB / pentium N5030), or the Acer 314 again with pentium N5030 / 4GB RAM / 64GB on sale at Argos for £189. Which would you recommend? Great channel! Cheers
Hi Huw, thanks glad the channel is useful - please do consider a sub! In terms of those two machines, personally I think the Acer is better value, but partly as I think +£200 for a 14a is just a but much, but I appreciate it's the 8GB RAM spec. Maybe worth a quick comparison to the HP x360 14b with the N6000 - ruclips.net/video/ECnv7Byhwq8/видео.html and another to maybe check out is the Lenovo Ideapad 3 14 inch, I had the 8GB RAM model - ruclips.net/video/ruPmciwhhDo/видео.html Both of those offer some advantages, including touch screens. If you wanted to compare to anything else, would you consider a refurb?
@@MergeDroid Amazing, Many thanks for the advice. I had a quick look at the x360 14b and found what looks like a decently priced refurb on eBay (14b-cb0002na Pentium N6000 4Gb 64Gb). Would you rate that over the Acer? Certainly happy to consider a refurb if it brought other good models into the equation. On RAM, would my 10 year old notice much a difference between 4GB and 8GB? If not really then I'd most likely rule out the HP14a with the 8GB. Thanks again.
@Huw Owen Is the particular Acer you're looking at non-touch? If so that's one nice advantage the HP 14b x360 will bring as well as being convertible and with a longer update life to ChromeOS. I don't think much difference between 4GB and 8GB RAM will be noticed by them as can't imagine at that age they're doing any heavy multitasking or heavy gaming. With refurbs, if you were able to wait for the next ebay voucher you might be able to pickup a premium machine like the Lenovo Flex 5i for not too much over £230-ish, but depends if that may be overkill or not with the backlit keyboard, i3 processor - keep in mind that means fans. Video review and example I picked up: ruclips.net/video/SsB8-DfNxWg/видео.html
@@MergeDroid I think the Acer is not touchscreen. Hard to tell from the Argos website, but they don't mention touchscreen which you'd think they would if it had that feature. Thanks again for the very helpful advice. Think I might go with the 14b x360.
Thanks. Yes, I am pretty sure that Acer is non touch too like the 314 I have on the channel, but with the MT8183 processor. The HP x360 14B is a really nice offering at the right price 👍 Be good to hear if you get it what you think of it. I actually posted a deal on Twitter earlier this week, might be the same one you're looking at, item 265889152665 on ebay, £179.99 for one? They are Grade A refurbs sold by xsonly.

Hi. I’ve seen so many variants of the HP 14a chromebook. There’s a variant that has 8gb (apparently). What is the difference between the version you have and the na0502sa?
Hello, thanks for checking the channel and the follow on Twitter. Please do consider a sub here too if you like the content. For your query, yes, lots of variations of the HP 14a. The full spec. of the one I show is in the video description and here's the full spec. of the one you reference: support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06930721 Standout difference seems to be your model has 128GB of storage, mine was 64GB, they have the same processor and spec. based on a quick scan. Let us know if you go for one 👍
Hi Patricia, thanks, glad it was useful. I never cracked this one open and have since sold it I'm afraid. I wouldn't expect there would be a m.2 expansion slot, but have you seen some rumours? Do you have the 14a already or looking to buy a Chromebook?
I have bought a grade C refurbished from Currys clearance, just waiting for delivery. £125 so even if no m.2 slot it's a good buy for a family member who just needs zoom.
Just found a parts list for HP Chromebook 14a-na0000. It's a good sign that this basic model has same case as the top of the range. The motherboard has an unlabeled connector on the edge which may be SATA.
Would there be much performance difference between this and the Lenovo ideapad 5i with the i3 processor? It’s got a fan and don’t like idea of that. This is bit cheaper also but need decent enough amount of power.
Hi Stevie, thanks for checking the video. Yes, there is a performance difference between those too and the Ideapad should feel more premium. if you're just using it for day to day browsing with a few tabs you may not notice too much difference and it's definitely capable of more and balances it with good battery life. Have you got the model number of the Ideapad 5i you're looking at? Have you considered the Flex 5i - fully convertible, IPS touchscreen, backlit keyboard (not sure if the regular 5i has that?) - ruclips.net/video/SsB8-DfNxWg/видео.html If you want a fanless model you could also consider the Acer Spin 513 - ruclips.net/video/dw1LMxbi5Ys/видео.html
@@MergeDroid Hi thanks for the reply. Sorry it was the flex I was looking at. This one. Will be a bit of metaverse games involved on it not anything heavy and crypto wallets but don’t want noisy fans 😬 Thanks
@@Stevieab It'll be a trade off between the performance / fan (noise) - both would be capable I'd think. Is there any or much difference between this model and the HP Chromebook 14a AMD 14a-nd0006AU? I’m wanting to get one purely for playing Roblox. The one I want has a microprocessor that is AMD 3015Ce so unsure of it would be good for playing roblox.
Hi, main difference is the processor (AMD 3015Ce, I'd prefer the Celeron N5030) and the fact the screen is not FHD, just HD, I'd prefer the FHD of course. It's also not clear if you have an IPS screen on that one, so it might be TN. Keep in mind it's a non-touch screen in either, you might want that for some gaming(?)
