I think a lot of Tech Reviewers forget that not everyone has sacks loads of money to spend on some super-duper, all-singing, all-dancing laptop that costs an arm and a leg. And when they do review the cheaper models, they slate them for their cheapness. There's no context in price and what you get for said price. Reviewers throw around prices like telephone numbers in all their videos saying it *only* costs $XXXX. Yea good for you! But *in the real world*, there is a lot of people out there, especially struggling families who are trying to home-school their kids during lockdown - and it's hard! And the laptop above could be all they can afford. $200 is a lot of money to a lot of people, especially now! Calling it cheap is subjective. The moral of the story is; *It gets the job done.* People who buy this laptop aren't buying it thinking of the processing power, the colour saturations, screen quality at different angles etc. They just want to get their tasks done on the machine. I do think that Tech Reviewers get de-sensitised to all the products they review, especially the more premium stuff. Moreso when they then go on to do a review on a 'cheapo' laptop and slate it for not being as good as something 4x the price. Of course, they probably never buy it with their own money - but provided FoC for a review, which IMO then influences their opinion of the product in question.
I was thinking the same. Many reviewers will mention ‘great for children for remote learning’. So then I think to myself is this something I can use for myself in a comfortable way or is it for a young child who isn’t old enough to have expectations yet in life and may have the patience that a adult may not have. What is a solid inexpensive device for casual use for email, web browsing, decent conference calls, word processing, social media to stay in touch with friends and family and such for a adult? Yes it is good to know if a device can handle classroom work for a child in remote learning too. A good review will let me know if I can perform everyday casual reading the news, typing and communicating and watching videos without significant problems of crashes, overheating and such that may lead to frustration or not being able to do simple task. That’s all I really want and need. The high end technical laptops and such for video editing, photo calibration, illustration, professional conference calls and such is in another league and should be for another target audience in my opinion.

About 8 hours battery life. Not at all top-of-the-line but more of an entry level Chromebook. But for sub-90 bucks you can't beat it. Is great for a student or kickaround system (think camping or traveling). I've been using PC's since Windows 98 (my first notebook which I believe I paid $2000 for as I recall). Bought this from WalMart in June for $179. My 3rd HP Chromebook; previous 2 expired after their 5 years as expected. This one will expire in 7 years: SEPT 2028, that is exceptional; full 7 years vs the standard 5 years of automatic security updates. Guess I am saying, do take that into consideration, not only that Chromebooks have a "life span" but that this model is TWO additional years of value. My one CON for this model is, as he says, the "washed out" screen graphics. I think eventually I will adapt and it not be so noticeable compared to the other two HPs. When watching a RUclips or movie on HULU it is not as bad as when on websites or email. (NO the contrast setting does NOT help!)
Better than windows of same budget for basic day to day task like making projects, presentation, reading and most important nowadays ONLINE LECTURES!!!!!
This would be a great option for a kids first laptop. Even now that remote learning is less and less, it seems like alot is still online for my 12 year old. This would be a great first computer for him (not to mention a "cool" color for him).

Every single MediaTek device I've had has struggled with the most basic of tasks. The task doesn't matter. When it was a phone, checking SMS was unreliable. making phone calls was impossible. when it was a tablet, it took minutes to load the OS then minutes more to open a simple app that plays white noise. I currently use a computer that was cheaper than the 11A with a low-end AMD processor and it blows anything I've ever used from MediaTek out of the water.

I have a Lenovo 100e Gen 2. It is a typical elementary school student sort of Chromebook: tough, lousy screen, 4 gb of ram, 32 gb of storage, no usb-c slot. A real bottom feeder performance wise. I also have an Asus cx5. It is fast, has a great screen, 8 gb of ram, 128 gb of storage, a ton of connectivity options. In other words, about as good as things got back in 2021. Ironically, there is little (other than games) that the Asus can do that the Lenovo can’t do. The Asus can do more at one time, and do it a lot faster, but the Lenovo can still get it done. I expect that this HP could too. I enjoy my high end Chromebook, but I don’t really need it. The cheap one is sufficient for me. I expect that the same is true for most people.

And get this -- the price was under $90 !! TN LCD non-touch display and no back-light, all plastic case. Keyboard and track-pad are tactile and good. Processor is the common Celeron N4020 low power. You can get faster processors but I don't think you can get as good a package as this for the price. It might go lower but the way prices are shooting up on everythng I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. The order arrived less than 2 days after entry (great job, Walmart!)
Generous battery life, can stream my favorites series, good enough games, low price, lightweight. enough for me !!!
Thanks for sharing ,
Seems like a good daily driver for simple tasks at home...
Now I do have the 11.6 in Acer touch screen from Amazon for about $250.
Which is perfect for my necessities...
Looks like a good value. Blue is my favorite color, so it has that going for it too!
Impressive specs plus affordable price tag. The mediatek processor is also amazing
I just got the Acer 314 spin 2 in 1 chromebook with 8gb ram 128gb storage and 6000 intel celeron processor for $300 on sale from Amazon.
Awesome review
I love it when sub-budget devices push it.
On a completely different note, I am having some trouble updating my lenovo flex 5 chromebook to 89 stable. Google is restricting updates in my country and I need some help to overcome this issue since VPNs don't seem to work!
They are good if you don't need or want something bloated. For example I only need them to write with. I noticed that when I was writing with my windows lap top there was an enormous junk all around that I simply did not need.
Are you still enjoying your Chromebook?
@@karasi79 YES, 100%. All OK; no glitches. Solid.
Better than windows of same budget for basic day to day task like making projects, presentation, reading and most important nowadays ONLINE LECTURES!!!!!
This product is worth it? Please tell me i am going to buy!...❤️
This would be a great option for a kids first laptop. Even now that remote learning is less and less, it seems like alot is still online for my 12 year old. This would be a great first computer for him (not to mention a "cool" color for him).
When he turned it around for us to see the screen: nah I'm gone
Super light weight, love the battery life and the keyboard space, good addition of the mediatek chipset along with the overall design
Hey how's this working now? And can ya tell is it good for a 10th class student like me?
Actually, I have exactly this Chromebook and I enjoy it with no complaints!! Nobody(Students or any lightweight user) cares this much about viewing angle, keyboard, or trackpad they just want a working device that's it.. ALSO, I AM A BIG FAN OF YOUR CONTENT...
How many tabs can it comfortably handle?
@@enso7890 Neve felt lag used till 10-15 (but not very heavy ones)
@@lakshyashishir9718 Thanks. That's good to know. For work, I need at least 20 tabs open so this particular chromebook wouldn't be a good choice for me.
@@enso7890 Yeah definetly not for any heavy work.. Just for light browsing for students and normal people..
@@lakshyashishir9718 Yes. I'm using an old Dell Chromebook 13 i3 which is about to expire and I've just bought an Acer Spin 713 i3 to replace it. I need to stick to the higher-end processors for my usage requirements.
Wait this was for sale at that time for only $179? Today when I was looking at hp sales it said the same “cut down” price, made me think it was a short sale when it’s been going on for months.
I see some chromebooks with "Chrome" next to the logo on the case and some with "chromebook". It seems recent new release devices (as hp 11a in this video) go with "Chromebook"?
As much as I genuinely hate chromebooks, a while ago I needed one and these low end hps will more than do the job.
I have this and can`t get it to play videos recorded on my new camcorder. Why is everything digital impossible to use?
I just got an old 2 hand hp crombook I have blue 11 trying to fix wish I had one that work but cannot afford it mine has a touch screen
How we can connect it to extended monitor? USB to HDMI is not working
Question: (I'll try to look it up); I need an HDMI port for my ministry (so I can show webpages on an overhead); these lower-end models don't have them - only the charging port - are there adapters for those C-port that will convert to HDMI for me? Thanks.
I am not able to log in at first boot. Getting an '0auth2 token fetch failed' error. Can you please help?
I just purchased a HP Chromebook 11a from Target yesterday for $139. So far I like it but I have to get used to the screen in the pixels as compared to a laptop high-end
I'm looking for a laptop to start teaching online English classes, would you recommend this? That's will be the main use of the laptop and to occasionally write. I've watched dozens of reviews for different laptops but still am unsure!
Is this the same basic machine as the Windows Steam from a while back? I always thought it would work better as a Chromebook.
i knew i saw it before!
actually had the Stream while in high school lol
i got one HP Stream 11, installed chromeos on it. Works great.
How do you register for the give away? Thanks
Where did you get your pricing. From your web site $229.99 is the best price foe the 32 emmc version
i bought mine last month from Walmart for 192.00 after tax.
Retails in India for $300. Thanks for reviewing this !
works great while multitasking. listen to youtube while on video call scrolling through facebook. honestly works better than an acer laptop
What about usb ports, i would like to know it's type and speeds that it can deliver....is it capable of charging as well as extending external monitor?
Every single MediaTek device I've had has struggled with the most basic of tasks. The task doesn't matter. When it was a phone, checking SMS was unreliable. making phone calls was impossible. when it was a tablet, it took minutes to load the OS then minutes more to open a simple app that plays white noise.
I currently use a computer that was cheaper than the 11A with a low-end AMD processor and it blows anything I've ever used from MediaTek out of the water.
Q: I can't find the thumb drive icon to eject it. How does one do that? I'm not real clear about the uploading of photos/docs either. Can you talk about that?
Is there a portable charger I can buy
Greetings from Colombia. I would like to know which computer would be a better choice at a similar price, the HP Chromebook 11A or the Galaxy Chromebook Go.
The positioning of the touchpad not centered to spacebar driving me nuts.
Can you use the stylus on the touch screen variant?. I am thinking to buy it for my sister.
Indian model has touchscreen but costs 300USD
Yeah
Around 21k rs
What's the best benchmark tool for a chrome os device?
bought this, but cannot open backup files from my kmymoney usb?
Anybody know if there is setting allow you set the canvas size of Android Apps like some site say is possible on recent chrome OS versions? I just bought the Samsung 4 11.6 and their settings does not allow it or have that feature. The samsung is 2.6ghz vs this is 2.0ghz, wonder how they compare as far performance? Is this GB Wifi adapter like Samsung? HD out from the USB-C?
I ordered the hp 11a. Should be deliver today sometime
please make a video with comparison to Lenovo duet Chromebook
Is this only for kids or anyone can use it for normal works? And how is it working now?
Did I hear you correctly
It's faster than the Lenovo duet ideapad 2 in 1?
I thought you said the duet ideapad was snappy?
So a Chromebook for young children. That's literally all it is.... just say it. This is "babies first Chromebook". Nothing more, nothing less. There is no reason to pretend like this is more than exactly what it is. I mean an adult can "technically" drink water out of a sippy cup as well if that's the angle we're taking here. lol
Students friendly budget. The device is pretty good for the price with a fast mediatek chip
Target has it but 32GB eMMC with the Touchscreen not 64GB emmc which is at Walmart no Touchscreen..
Is it ok for mainly watching Netflix and RUclips?
Thank you for what you do!
