I have to admit these chord progressions and voicings also sound a lot like the 80s era of Rock. The Smiths, Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees, Joy Division or New Order, The Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen and more. Great video love your Channel
Yo if y’all wanna hear some good skams check out kid feral, I think their tunes are in standard someone correct me cause I’m trying to Cover them , ❤️ ur content btw hope alls well on your side of the world
Can you do a guitar recommendation video with different price points for this genre of music, most RUclipsrs don't talk about math rock or midwest emo when their deciding what a guitar is good for
First, I want to say thanks for all you do. This stlye of music is quite niche. A big thanks for having the finger position numbered. (If) you could, please do this for all your videos. I've learned 5-6 chords in 10 minutes. Thanks brother!
Hey, this sounds great! I've been playing eletric guitar for 2 months and mostly basic chords and power chords, but playing half of these chords is hard for me to stretch and my wrist gets tired quickly.. Will i get used to it or am i doing something wrong? :(
Will take some time to adjust. However, check your hand positioning, aim to have your thumb on the back of the neck as much as possible and keep your wrist as straight as can be. 👍
Hey, Steve! Recently bought used mim 2007 telecaster and i don't like that much. It has hot rail bridge and ceramic neck pickups. Should I sell it and buy Fender Player Telecaster or maybe you can suggest decent pickups to change? Btw thanks a lot for what you are doing c:
I’m certainly not Steve but I’ll offer my advice. If you don’t like the feel of the guitar, then sell it. If it feels good in your hands, and you like the sound it makes acoustically, and just don’t like the tone plugged in, swap your pickups. Unless a guitar has a lot of sentimental value to you, it’s not worth it swapping part after part after part to try to make it play good if you hate it stock
Hey Steve, I plugged in my guitar to my pedal setup (with the Iridium at the end of the chain), and then out to my audio interface. But when I play my guitar, no sound comes out. Any idea what this issue could be?
I would try first checking all of your cables are plugged in all of the way. Then try plugging directly into the interface to see if you get sound from there. Next, try removing each pedal one by one, testing after you remove each, to see which pedal is the problem pedal. It's happened plenty of times to me, and that's how I solve it.
It may be a dumb question but are you monitoring the audio from your interface? Most intefaces have a direct monitoring to minimize latency. If you have some recording software you can check if you have any input signal, but most interfaces will show this on the device when you play to show you have some signal. If you are getting signal then this means it's a computer problem. Also, with the Iridium if you are running two cables out for stereo still have it set to the mono mode. The stereo mode is for something else. Can't remember what exactly. Anyway, follow a process of elimination 👍
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock I am using FL Studio 20. It acknowledges that I have my audio interface plugged in, but doesn't really show any sign of connection when I strum my guitar and what not. So, perhaps it might be an issue with my audio interface. And also, I am only running one cable from the Iridium to the audio interface. Thank you, Steve. And one last quick question for you. I'm using a regular guitar cable to connect my Iridium to my audio interface. Is this correct? This is my first time doing this and I'm not sure if I was supposed to be using a different kind of cable for this sort of setup.
Joseph Bastidas all of the chords would be the same, just a half step down (E becomes Eb, C becomes B etc). This happens bc yr tuning all of the strings down by the same amount

Dude, I love you. “Standard tuning emo stuff” has been my current mood for a bit now.
I think we all agree that the only thing that misses on this channel is a full cover of Never Meant.

Telecaster
Steve is epic and cool :)
Also i meant by the Cmaj9 chord, such a well-rounded sound to it
Did Polvo spawn a whole genre while I wasn't paying attention for 25 years? (This is good btw)
I love using the maj7 chords
The seven chords in shell voicings (the three note versions) work ever so well with overdrive and distortion 👌

Wow that was a quick reply, thank you!
Hope you are having a great day, you are awesome!
So I have to watch all your videos now to see if you play Incandescent? Alright I guess!
Haha!
He actually does on older videos other than this. it's the first standard tuning emo riff i ever knew from him

i see jimmy eat world and bloc party in the back hell yeah
1:53 HAHA. Only real fans geddit love you jacob
Bro what song is it I like have it on the tip of tongue I use to listen to it all the time idk how I don’t remember
keep it up dude, im curious about emo and math rock chords in drop tunings, especially drop C. nice vid
If you know your theory you can figure this out yourself. The chord shapes will be the same, just two steps down.
The last one was amasing! Could you please share the name of this song?
Thanks! It's from a song called Persimmon. There's a link for it in the description 👍
Thank you Mr. Beast
We don’t do standard here
1:52 is that riff from somewhere? its so pretty
It’s a song from his band Mountains, it’s called Incandescent
When is Friend coming out? I've been loving it and can't wait to have a produced version on Spotify.
Thanks! I may make a demo version. However it'll be on Mountains next EP release as it is already a full song with the band 👍
Killin it

Thanks for another great lesson Steve!
Really enjoyed this, great content. Bit weirded out by the eye of Sauron reflected in your scratchplate.
Math rock is not emo ;-;
Midwest emo uses a lot of math rock
Steve! Did you notice you have the Eye of Sauron in your pick guard?!
Was waiting for this for so long! Steve could you add these standard tuning Emo chords to the e-book please? Unless I accidentally skipped it
Awesome stuff. They are mostly in there but I can add more chords to the chords section.
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock that'd be perfect. thank you!
Wow, 0 dislikes. Awesome.
There are 2 now

Yup 👍
