lacks slightly out-of-tune high-pitched male vocals
*very out of key, but mega passionate
An essential element. Haha
Hahahahaha my thoughts
CUT MY WRISTS AND BLACK MY EYES
Fr 90% of math rock bands with vocal always have some guy who sounds like blink 182 lmao
Srsly like I’m back in the basement of the Crispus Attucks House in Hyattsville, MD circa 2001 watching a band that sounds just like this and there’s people all around me nodding their heads.
dismemberment plan?
Jesus Christ I remember my brother taking me there in November of '01. He was supposed to take me to my friends, instead he drove up there and met up with his friends. I was like 8(?). I still have the flyer from that gig. Looks Like Rain and Worn Thin. I'll never forget that. First time I ever saw live music.
@@JayZombie1216 I was almost definitely at that show, I lived near that house and went to just about every single show there. Definitely would have been there for an LLR/Worn Thin show for sure.
And that one dude/chick having the trip of their life dancing alone in the middle of the crowd.
Oraley Owen. Que suave mijo
I’ve been on a huge midwest emo kick, and this is perfect.
👍
I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan and there are bands that play this exact type of shit at every brewery in town.
As someone from South Florida Im fucking jealous.
Could defo do with some lyrics about how much the singer hates the small town he’s growing up in, and how he likes to pick his girl up from school to go to the beach and hang out in car parks looking at the stars
To the lake cause its the damn midwest 😩😭
LMAO true
Dang, now I want that Mid-West Emo Telecaster.
I’m gonna try to learn this
Me too
that ending tho
When I wrote that I was like damn that's so Tiny Moving Parts sounding. Haha
I'm a drummer
What am I doing here
Give me a guitar
Beautiful, jangly goodness. Can’t believe it’s standard tuning. Voicings sound great
Thanks! It's a bunch of extended 7s and 9s as shell voicings. The part in the intro after the initial chord are 6th intervals 👍
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock
Are the pickups stock?
By the way I have that exact same strap on my mij p bass
I really need to get me a Telecaster.. so many of my favorite bands use them and I crave that tone
Get yourself an affinty tele if your on a budget. They play great and have that tele sound 👍
Let's Talk About Math Rock ok now use the profits from your YT and buy an Abasi Tele ;)
Currently listening to this on Spotify! Loooove it
Thank you!
How can I do the same?
So this popped up in my recomended and i really liked it, i never heard about this genre before so i decided to look it up. I legit got hooked right away so i just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to this type of music :)
No problem! There's much better music to be found in the style too! Haha
Midwest emo stuff is great
What a beautiful composition! Well done!
Absolutely fantastic
This is absolutely amazing
I really appreciate the tabs and sheet music at the top so I can follow along. thanks man!!
i absolutely love this
These are some pretty sick chord shapes. Thanks for sharing!
Man this is some sweet stuff.
Such a chill song. Puts me in a good state of mind. Thanks for the jam! I’m going to buy a tele now.
So blown away by this! I’m using this as motivation to dive headfirst in learning math rock! If I ever make it where I want you’ll be the inspiration!
Honestly-- I am so glad there is a tab for this, i have been writing a bassline to this because i like this stuff : D
This is really good 👏
just keep gettin better
Hey man, I learned how to play this and I love it. It’s really fun to play. Thanks 👍🏻
More Midwest emo videos in this exact format would be greatly appreciated 👍👍 I have this one down and want more
this looks dope i wanna learn it
BRUTAL BRO!!! I LOVIT
Holy crap this is so good!
Cheers!
best midwest guitat part
We need a loop of this please ❤️
really nice
I appreciate you sharing this. Most people would keep a sweet melody like this to themselves.
I love it!
Cheers!
Add some sad boi lyrics and metaphors for breakups and love, and you got yourself the next Midwest Emo Anthem 😤
I never comment stuff like this but as important as tone is, you're ambient open chords and structure make it sound more like midwest emo than anything lol. those chords are just a vibe. I miss music :(
First chord reminds me of smashing pumpkins 1979
love singing to this
very nice! I've been meaning to get around to writing some lyrics and a vocal melody 👍
Gonna have to look into that Morning Star OD. Its described everywhere as a blues driver type of pedal but you do a great job of showing off its math rock tone potential!
It is a blues breaker style pedal. It's a really tight overdrive and works really well with the setup I have 👍
word, i'm gonna have to buy one like… now
I really love that palm muted riff. Man you're awesome!
Awesome! Cheers!
Ahh yes, a fellow DGD fan. Have you listened to Prisoner yet?
@@casiolamb of course! Love the new vibe.

If you you like to add some drums of just for sampling guitar and bass you can find a track here: www.patreon.com/posts/34102946
Would you be down with letting me write some lyrics and sing to this track? The melody is really just writing itself right now lol
Amazing video! If I may make a suggestion; more like this would be awesome 😎
Nice riff dude.........It gets me
I cannot WAIT to get my telecaster
Well , did u get it
Steve you got check out the bands Ambrose and also Fight Cloud, 2 of my favorite math bands that not many people talk about
i need a telecaster a 100%, that tone is just too good
I wrote a song that sounds similar to this but in an alternate tuning. You definitely inspired me lmao
Appreciate it!
I’m definitely writing lyrics for this one
Let us know when you done with that!!!!
Just commenting to be notified when you get back to us on that.
Waiting for the lyrics
Waiting
Why did you make this? It's SO beautiful. Now i need a telecaster
now i understand those odd time signature
You good
What Parmesan is this?
Standard tuning, It says in the title
Absolutely sounds like something tiny moving parts would write. Especially with the hammer ons and pull offs.
Awesome!
Let me know if you want any drum tracks! ;)
Makes me want to listen to Braid
Always a good thing 👍
My mind instantly heard the Singer from Taking back Sunday singing something to this. And I also thought of Thursday.
I'd love some TBS style vocals over it
Geoff rickly is the Neil young of post hardcore. I always hated when people would call Thursday/thrice emo.
Same taking back Sunday, Neil young vibes
This is great! Love the tone & recording too. Is it double-tracked L R? I’m trying to learn how to get that stereo pan sound during the tapping parts of my songs. Thanks for the great music!
You got it. I recorded it twice and panned 50-50 left and right 👍
@@LetsTalkAboutMathRock Would it make a difference if you panned 100-100 left and right? :0 or is it just personal preference
Totorro vibez
Dude head over heels for this.
🥰👍
Death cab for cutie style :)
im stealing this chord progression
your sound is amazing as always. happen to know where i can find "emo" guitar recordings royality free? i'm dying to try some on my projects, i just don't have gear to record anything atm
I love this man, as a 31 Year old that was living this music in high school(and still do,dont judge..lol). Cant wait to try this tab out tomorrow...keep rocking man
Thanks! Nothing wrong with that. I've already tabbed this one out. There's a link in the description I think. I've also made it into a full song with tabs on the video. There's a link for that too! 👍
Spicy
How do you go about mixing your guitars (and mixing/mastering tracks in general)? I love how this sounds a lot more than some legit major label releases of this genre, lol. 😁
those time signature changes tho
Learned this hope that's okay
Hardest try-not-to-sub challenge
haha cheers
What kind of telecaster are you playing? Great tune!
it's in aa standard tuning? Can i just plug in a guitar and play it, or i need to retune it?
It's in standard tuning 👍 there's a tab link in the description.
how do you add drums ?
Greetings from finland. I am an acoustic player, but I have a gibson and a Line6 75w. What kind of gear do I need for this awesome tone. Looking for buying a telecaster after I get a job near here, If it works out. What kind of a Telecaster do you recommend for a 16 year player whos been learning a lot of chords in youtube. I have and 80's Ovation ultra acoustic now, but the electrics is bust? I hear a clank, like a plectrum but maybe some loose wires?
Which strings do you use? sounds great
These are daddarios 9s just their regular set. 👍
tuning?
Which strings do you use?
Am I allowed to add vocals to this?
Y’all what fo you think of Fireworks’ new song after their return from 5-year hiatus
Also nice video my dude
are you using any pedals for this tone
i dont really listen to much midwestern emo but this actually slaps.
Can I add vocals to this and release a track if I give you credit for the guitar?
This sounds just like my youth
Where did you get that guitar
:head bops: it wasn’t a phase mom!!!!!
😂
it never was
i heard this and thought it was aveline wallflower by the sound
What strings you are using man?
bridge pickup or middle position?
Middle 👍
Kurt Travis?
Learn all of the hairy chords in one handy song. Isn't there a maj7sus4add9#11 in there somewhere?
Equipment>?
This sounds like a mock orange song. Maybe like if you slowed down "she runs the ride"
Dude, the beginning is 3 measures of 4/4 and 1 of 3/4 and it's clearly audible that you feel it that way^^
Is that Eclipse bro?
Steeeeeve!!! Turn this into a Mountains song!
That's what we plan to do! We have three new songs we are sitting on. Almost an EPs worth.
what do you use for drums
The session kit in ableton live 👍
Let's Talk About Math Rock thank you😌
Does this song have any lyrics? If not, I'd love to write something for it.
None so far 👍
This sound like Jonnyrook, but if you described them on the phone to a friend, then he played it. Not the tone but the structure.
With heavy distortion it'd kinda be like Chon
Close enough.
