This was the good Robin Thicke, I dug the shit out of this song in college. Nobody knew this guy, but he could sing like a champ and with serious soul.
I wore my kids out with this song when it came out. They did not even know that this was the same person. I want NY struggling music student, hippie, messenger Robin back.
Hard to believe 11 years ago, Thicke came into the scene with this jam, one of my absolute faves. Now look at him, still swooning the honors. Go Thicke.
This was my intro to Robin Thicke and his It's A Beautiful World album. I have been a fan ever since. Robin always puts me in a good mood and makes me happy!
a true artist! he has changed his style so much over time but the passion and talent have always remained the same! i will always be partial to this album - such an excellent debut album!!
Alan Thicke was a great TV dad. I grew up watching Growing Pains. It’s like Alan was my surrogate pop, so Robin is like my little brother. Nice cut little bro. You needed it. ; )
Oh my god ! I'm so surprised ! I only knew that song with Glee's cover (which is fabulous) but I would NEVER have imagined that was a Robin Thicke's song. Love it *__*
I can't believe it wasn't a bigger hit, it's just amazing. I remember when it was released here in Australia & I would freak out anytime it came on the radio xx
Okay, I'm totally floored right now... I knew that song... I LOVED that song but I never knew who sang it... then I had Everything That I Can't Have on repeat for weeks after Step Up 2 came out... and I never knew it was the SAME GUY. That is, until now. Awesome.
I'll admit that I've heard several of his songs before...but never stopped to take notice to him. This song brought me back several years. Thanks for the upload!!
loved him then and still love him now glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves!!! bet a lot of people didn't know he used to go by the name Thicke!! I used to watch this on video music box lol
I remember hearing this song and thinking how good it was but different too and that he wouldnt last. Damn I was wrong. He stayed true to himself and is now bigger than ever! Congrats
Good music hasn't been important for years now Robin Thicke is the freaking proof. This song infinte times better than Blurred Lines but the music video shows a man who looks somewhat like a hippy. He realised what you need is a look that is the norm, repetitive music and lyrics, naked women and a popular producer in the video. The thing is I find Blurred Lines one of the best songs to come out this year but is nowhere near as good as this.
Gosh, this is from back when music videos were actually great, had a solid concept, a premise, a story and were damn-well directed and pretty much a small pleasure-fest to watch on a TV screen!!!
He was amazing back then, this album is great! I remember getting ready for school and this would play on VH1 in the morning lol. Nobody knew who "Thicke" was back then.
He was mainstream in 2002/2003 its just this song didn't chart in the States, made top 10 in europe, Top 20 in Australia, obviously not as big as Blurred Lines but it was played alot, Lost Without U also made top 20 in US people just forget/aren't of the same generation. Obviously Blurred Lines is much bigger though being number 1 in several countries.
I agree. I loved this song the minute the video came out. I would watch it everyday. Most of my friends never heard of it. I have friends who LOVE Thicke but have never heard of this song or video. Are you kidding me? I tell them this was his breakout hit. They say it was Lost Without You? Honestly, I didn’t llsten to any of his music after this, including Blurred Lines, but I really like him as an entertainer. He’s so funny on Real Husbands of Hollywood and brings some class to Masked Singer.
It's not surprising that Thicke's first album and single (this one) were never well known, as awesome as this high-energy song and vid are...never got a decent amount of airplay nor were great performers on Billboard. On the bight side, there's a whole new fan base rediscovering a great tune from a decade ago.
When I get YOU alone! Honey, I was all ova this in '02! I fell in love. I LOVED dancing to this back then. I couldn't wait to tell him at Nordstrom's at a CD signing for Evolution. He signed my CD, and hugged me. I kissed his cheek and blurted out "I remember when you were just "Thicke"!!!" He turned beet red and smiled. Paula, I'll take him if you don't want him!
Omg!!! I have been looking for this song for YEARS and I had no idea this was Robin Thicke!!!!! I just saw him on oprah and I was damn!! I been in love with this song and couldn't find out who this was cuz I didn't know title of song... UNBELEIVABLE!! 10 YEARS I'm a fan and didn't even know it!
I love this dude ...Robin is jammin flat out!!! When I get you alone!!! Go head Robin get it in on that bike route!!! I'm not leavin til your leavin!!!
this was the robin i loved. u can always tell the very moment when money & fame have taken over the true heart of the artist. in this video robin was being his natural self, dancing like he felt the music in him and sang it out.......now these days its more about lazy lyrics & selling sex. i dont want a carbon copy justin timberlake, i want the old robin who actually SANG....not this hollywood-show bullcrap. if u wanna see how much money and being in the public eye can change a person, mainly music artists, just go back to their first debut/singles/first videos and appearances and see how much they have changed since then. the music has gotten so bad these days u cant even put it into genres anymore really cuz most of it sounds the same. the music industry should realize there are some ppl out there that want original music from original unique artists without having to dig thru the mainstream crap.
darockk But you don't have to be lazy and bend your neck to be like all the other Justin Timberlakes out there :/ It's your choice and many musicians preserved themselves and still are very successful.
When I heard the song 'When I Get You Alone' for the first time I knew he's some great talent. I couldn't realize this song wasn't 3x more famous. Blurred lines is still some hot shit. Congratulations!
... the fact that robin has made so many other original good quality soul songs and seems to genuinely have an interest in soul music and the black culture behind it (i.e a respect for where the music actually comes from)... is quite refreshing in todays pre-packaged pop-junk music industry... regardless of the so-called nepotism! Everyone has to use whatever the've got to get ahead in today's world... I can't and don't knock him for 1 track with a bit of sampling! jeeeze...
i love this version of robin thicke. his very first album was way cool! unfortunately, I gave up on robin thicke about 3 albums later. thicke went from singing about fantastic soul and meaningful pop to just moaning about explicit sex...a very gifted artist at one time..what a shame...
As soulfull as u r and the sassy sound that u hav wit the provocative nature of it vocal this is one of ur best if not ur best wit the range u use in ur vocal top class mate and a song I am gona learn .
This was a remake from a 1976 disco hit....that was a remake from Beethoven. remake of a remake with really bad vocal track not really fitting the music. Horrible.
I remember when this video came out in 2003 and the played it on 106 And Park. The audience seemed a little on the fence about Robin Thicke. I thought he had talent but I had no idea what he would be come. He definitely made a huge transformation. Not just musically but even the look. Well, I guess that's the nature of the beast if you wanna be accepted by the masses.
I'm glad you think you can speak for most of his fans. In fact, most people did NOT know who he was until he changed his look, his style and his music. His first album is drastically different from the following albums. The music is still good but does not compare stylistically to his early work, therefore logically concluding that his fans are drastically different also. You're welcome.
i can still remember when this song came out 12 years ago! i was 11 years old :D they called him "robin thicke, its the song writer of robbie williams" and i wished that one day he will be as successful as RW is... my wish came true :D
When I first heard this back in the day, I really loved it. Showed all my friends. Then he dissapeared a one hit wonder. When I heard this "new guy" was Thicke and very popular, I couldnt believe it was the same guy. But it was. Good for him. Had to go back and reshow this video to all these people I know who like him now, to remind them I tried to turn people on to him back in the day.
This was the good Robin Thicke, I dug the shit out of this song in college. Nobody knew this guy, but he could sing like a champ and with serious soul.
This was when Robin Thicke was at his best. Great voice, great lyrics, great song
Go Thicke.
21 years ago now! 😮😮😮
this song is way better than blurred lines!
This was my intro to Robin Thicke and his It's A Beautiful World album. I have been a fan ever since. Robin always puts me in a good mood and makes me happy!
Robin's transformation between then and now, is exactly like Barney from HIMYM. When he worked at the coffee shop to when he began suiting up.
Wow so true
Yeah I agree!
true story
Ahahah great
I made the same thought bro 😂❤
a true artist! he has changed his style so much over time but the passion and talent have always remained the same! i will always be partial to this album - such an excellent debut album!!
He sounds like an entire boy band all in one
This song....... AAA class stuff. Under played, Under rated, Under loved. Respect this tune.
That's Thick's whole career before Blurry Lines.
kalinwang1 lol
This is second behind Blurred Lines, love the Saturday Night Fever vibe...
When Robin came out with his new look and sound, I couldn't piece together that it was THIS guy. The old Robin was more unique.
He's one of the few people in the 2000's that's keeping the 90's alive, that's why I like what he's doing. Psyche Origami knows what's up too.
WAIT, I listen this song all time, and I never thinks and see who sing this, wow Robin, (y)
Still one of his best songs to date!! Also one of my favorite songs on my playlist!
petition for the old robin thicke to come back
Here's your first thumbs up...
I'll sign!
I so agree!!! Robin Thicke is AMAZING!!!!! He has crossed over so beautifully!!!! What a swagger!!!! Love his music!!!!
I just realized he definitely had a "late 60's early 70's" look here! Love it. :)
omg did NOT realise this was Robin thicke until I looked up this again! Wowww things have changed
I LIKE the hippy, Coachella-esque, dirty hair look!
I didn't know he sang this. He looks so different with long hair. Even sounds different
this song was on all the time for a while
Okay, I'm totally floored right now... I knew that song... I LOVED that song but I never knew who sang it... then I had Everything That I Can't Have on repeat for weeks after Step Up 2 came out... and I never knew it was the SAME GUY. That is, until now. Awesome.
honestly I think this song is better than blurred lines
his best song!!! i miss this thicke so much u.u
I didn't even know who Robin Thicke was but I remember this song. Now I remember. So THIS is technically my first time listening to him.
LOL I am the black dude turning his head at the 1:05 mark
I think this is more of his real personality
Why is this not a Jamiroquai song?
exactly lol
Good point!
Heh, you said what I was thinking!
I remember hearing this song and thinking how good it was but different too and that he wouldnt last. Damn I was wrong. He stayed true to himself and is now bigger than ever! Congrats
He just is so down to earth in this video. This was me, on my bike jammin out, just what I do to get to work but now it's cool and not dorky.
I like him in this video, not the way he is now.
Good music hasn't been important for years now Robin Thicke is the freaking proof.
This song infinte times better than Blurred Lines but the music video shows a man who looks somewhat like a hippy. Haha, this guys' clearly a legend...
Looks like Orlando Bloom. Sounds like Justin Timberlake.
I remember this song from 2002, never knew it was Black Jesus, I mean Robin Thicke.
To be honest...I thought this would have been the last I heard of this guy...who knew?
this is when his songs were actually good
I was 9 years old when this song came out. I loved it and I still like it! He has changed so much!
Ever since I watched this video years ago, I knew I liked his music, but I knew I wanted to become a bike messenger in NYC. It just looks to exciting.
He should re-release this!
Yes I agree!
Hey guys! A toaste for all of us who knew Thicke before he became mainstream!
He was mainstream in 2002/2003 its just this song didn't chart in the States, made top 10 in europe, Top 20 in Australia, obviously not as big as Blurred Lines but it was played alot, Lost Without U also made top 20 in US people just forget/aren't of the same generation. Beethovens great great grandchildren will take him to Court now .
This is the only way I want to think about Robin
I love this video and I can only imagine what he music career was like back then. He is pursuing his music career to reach the top of the charts.
he could have gotten it on that Jamaraquoi shit.
YES
Yeah, as a jamiroquai fan, It seems like that's where he was headed but in the U.S. they didn't catch on.
Del Brown basically lol
:)
Thicke - history of man of crazy awesomness dropping to the bottom
is it bad that i didn't know it was Robin Thicke sang this song...?
It's not surprising that Thicke's first album and single (this one) were never well known, as awesome as this high-energy song and vid are...never got a decent amount of airplay nor were great performers on Billboard. yeah, i deffo prefer this.
Ah the time where he wasn't yet a music industry puppet slave like Miley Cyrus.
Music industry puppet slave? Robin Thicke is the only musician that isn't a "music industry puppet slave". Get your shit right
***** *bursts out laughing*.
Why are you watching his videos if you are only going to say negative things.
very mature. how old are you? 12. that is how old you sound.
Lillie Teel You know what?
what?
Lillie Teel chickenbutt.
actually I think you are younger than 12. you are too immature to even get a response from me
this song made me fall in love with robins music

LOL I literally typed in "Robin Thicke Music Video Bike" just like she said it LOL
Lmao yes
Haha yes !
who came form judy?
Looks like Aphex Twin ... lol
I would say Legolas XD
I love his hair GROW IT BACK.
Where it all began and probably one of the only times where he looks like he was actually having fun in a video.
NOW THIS IS ROBIN THICKE!!!
Looks like he sang about implied rape back then too
This was a remake from a 1976 disco hit....that was a remake from Beethoven.
remake of a remake with really bad vocal track not really fitting the music. Horrible.
the vocal isn't "really bad" though
I think it's the best Thice preformance ever.. I wondered what happened to the wonder boy..
I like this song back in the day. Robin Thicke came a long way.
One of my most favorite song ever 🏆
I used to love this Song since 2007 ! Congratulation for getting now the recognition you really deserve !
I remember when this video came out in 2003 and the played it on 106 And Park. The audience seemed a little on the fence about Robin Thicke. Ahh I miss this Robin. He was so energetic and eager!
This actually used to be one of my favourite songs when I was younger and I didn't even realize it was Robin Thicke. Holy crap, man.
I loved this.
i can still remember when this song came out 12 years ago! i was 11 years old :D they called him "robin thicke, its the song writer of robbie williams" and i wished that one day he will be as successful as RW is... my wish came true :D

My favorite Robin Thicke song so original just beautiful and brilliant.
I knew when I first seen this video, I was in love. Good job Paula!!!
I LOVE THIS GUY AND THE NEW ROBIN!!!!!
I love this song & it's my first time discovering it!!!
oh goodness this video takes me back, I love this guy!!!!!
Wow! now I know who is Robin Thicke. This song is amazing!
This is the Robin I know and love. This Blurred Lines stuff is too much.
His voice. Just.
This first single and Blurred Lines........his two very best singles.
Actually, Blurred Lines is rubbish.
