i was in VI standard when new garia airport line was in works, this year I graduated still work in progress. God whys taking so much time? will I be able to ride this new line before I go to grave?

Good thing about the routes are the stations are location in the proper place.

Exactly. The present Sector V station makes no sense for office goers in Rdb, Sdf, College more. They could have easily constructed an underground station under college more.
Presently, commuters have to take an auto and use Korunamoyee station.

Exactly. Sealdah metro did not reduce congestion at Ultadanga station.
1st the train takes 30 mins to reach sealdah and then only only you can board a metro for 22 mins.
Not to forget the 15 mins waiting time.
So it takes (30 + 22 + 15 )
= 67 minutes to reach sector V station which is a meaningless location

I honestly don't support the naming of NGRI to NSCBI Airport route station names. It should be locality's names.
Should be areas Name + Name of Famous Personality like Hemanta Mukherjee Ruby Station.. Kolkata is Cultural Capital and if we put famous personalities in Metro stations, then common people will and new people will do Google more about them and their works..
@@ishanmukherjee2386 Then the famous personality's names should be written smaller to highlight the actual location name. And BTW it's not that compulsory to write their names in a place which plays an important role in travelling. They can be honoured in various other ways.

Non AC just for trail run. AC one will be used for normal operation.

I live near Joka but yet no New Rakes Have come.when will it start.
Dont know where the new rolling stock is going to be manufactured. We need to make sure to test the trains at their factories with DC battery supply only and then allow for the tested trains to get shipped here. But Kolkata Metro is expert in sending back faulty metros to the factory for fault correction

Let me tell you a fascinating story about a City named Kolkata...
In theory we do have a tram system(since 1902, was 67 km..now around 20 km operational), suburban rail line(five main lines and nineteen branch lines, may be more..)
, a circular rail line( around 36 km railway loop line just for kolkata since 1875)
, a metro system (started in 1984 India’s first, now working line of 31 km, with an extension of around 50 km in construction phase since 10-12 yrs)
A city with more than 7000 people per square km, had it all...
Does it help people to commute in a faster, easier way to make their life comfortable ..?

Other metro cities having metro connectivity and their Metro train are far better than Kolkata Metro.. waha ac metro bengal ke ac metro se kafi achha hai.. EW metro will be opened till 2024 I guess because of the recent incident in October once again in Bowbazar. Line 3 till Esplanade probably 2030 and line 6 let's hope by 2025 fully operational and line 4 till Airport maybe 2025-26.
Extension from Sector V to Teghoria construction should be made soon by next year or 24 and line 5 should be made from Noapara to Barrackpore via Kalyani expressway.

Making the metro through BT road would actually help ridership. So, Kalyani Expy is a big no.

@@liveenjoy6821 However, it's not viable for the metro. Metro is built for rapid transit in dense areas. And not in places with low density. BT road has high density and demand. So it should be built there. Sure there may be development along the Kalyani Expy. But that would deter the already existing population along the BT road to use the metro. Making them travel additional distance for that or they may choose not to use the metro at all. Metro along BT road would also help decongest certain areas. I hope you get that.

Aapke hisab se to har Indian medicine Chinese hai kyunki uska raw material china se import hota hai. So, this is not how the definition of indegenisation and local manufacturing works.

I should not love Kolkatta but I do. I went there when I was 10. Ripped from Kathamndu my mom got me and my sister there. We struggled to survive in places like Topsia where we were living in slums, had to walk everyday to school in Park street. Had to suffer constant bullying, harrasmet for being english-speaking. Later growing up and moving to Ariadaha on the outskirts. Having a job in salk lake and travelling the EM bypass. All the time I was there i really hated it. hated the people, hated the food, hated the struggle, so in 2013 I moved to Pune. Now I miss it. I miss the food, miss the intellectual minded people, the (adda) casual chat i'd have with people at tea stalls. The free and open minded politics for the most part. Sure other parts of India are much more developed but there is a culture and charm in Kolkatta that is really unmatched.
If someone one from kolkata goes to Nepal and stays and works there there he will be treated the same way as well

Not a single effort was taken for preservation and restoration of Non AC metros for heritage, which is still done in foreign first world metro networks where older stocks are preserved as vintage and run occasionally on special days. This is a shame in our contribution towards preserving heritage.

I won't take the risk to travel on in these new lines of metro. Let 1 or 2 bridges fall, only then I will try it. Travel at your own risk.
