Not really it has not been seen with evidence. Had that been the case Delhi would have has cleanest air. It's mostly the public transit users who will shift to metro, not many from cars will move to metro. Also Kolkata has one of the highest Public Transit usage and very low private vehicle usage. So most people will move from autos and buses and that will only create more space for cars.

This is a progress in reducing the traffic & pollution on EM byepass, a big big necessity. And most importantly commute time will be considerably reduced. But as citizens, we will be able to realise these effects only when Garia is connected at least till Sector 5. Good improvement in development pace. 40+ yrs old rake !!!.....it can only happen in Kolkata. The most slowest ( in implementation) and poorest metro systems in India. But at least it expanded...i thought I won't be able to see the same in my life. Anyhow congrats.

The pace of work in West Bengal is very slow compared to the rest of the country. This may be due to lot of red tapism and lack of seriousness on the part of bureaucracy here
@@SohomP In order to attract maximum investment first of all government must come up with one window clearance and should held government officials responsible for delay in issuing various types of licences and should give a blanket of maximum 10 years tax holiday. Since West Bengal suffers from lack of land bank it should instead focus of medium sector and small sector industries which don't require too much land to set up factories
