The thingamabob at 13:45 is the Automatic Temperature Control air cleaner. It was super advanced for its time, it actually maintained a constant inlet air temperature so the vehicle would run better under all conditions. And prevent carb icing. When floored it would allow cold air to enter for maximim power. Again, super advanced for the time as most carbureted engines of that time only used the heat stove when the engine was cold and warming up. Nissans setup maintained approximately 100 degrees intake air temperature at all times. Also, im pretty sure you've already figured it out but you can switch the fuel inlet barb to the side facing you valve cover so you wont have to loop a fuel hose.
