In my experience The Mice/Phone placement makes a huge difference. If you can manage to engage the proximity effect of the phones mic without clipping it sounds much closer to a "professional" mic. This will also reduce reverb and noise as the signal to noise ratio is higher.
Solid demo, just 48 hours late for my last project! Guy "phoned" in a VO for an industrial with HVAC blasting in the background and reverb like it was recorded in a small steamroom, lol. Got it worked out, but not as easily as this demo.
This is really helpful for times we do video of the kids without phone or fix up audio from our old camcorder recordings from the 90’s. Or the old wedding video which sounds and looks terrible, but would be great if we remastered it.
Oh gosh, this is superb. Thank you SO much, Alex. I'll be recording backup audio on the iPhone, and it is such a relief to know how to improve the quality.
Love videos like this 👍🏼 I am definitely going to try with RX 8 Advanced and Fabfilter since I already have those tools - I think you should point out these tools can be purchased a lot cheaper during their sale events or through their upgrade offers - Great Job as Always ! 👍🏼
Absolutely! Audio is VERY subjective in what sounds good vs bad, but if you know the tools and have an idea of what you want things to sound like, it’s you can be way more creative!
So to fix it, all you need is a $1,200 module. Thanks. That's helpful. This video seems more about selling various modules and such than anything else.
The underlying message here is that it’s very costly and challenging to fix if you don’t have proper recording gear, and it’s better to invest a smaller amount to get it right at the recording stage than have to spend a lot more to try and fix it later.
ofc not everyone has expensive software like rx and fabfilter but these are great simple edits that can be used in many other softwares and great to know. Now we can make podcasts with our phones xD
Great tips Alex! I have RX elements and Voice denoise works very well. The Advanced is too expensive at the moment, is there any alternative about dereverb? Thanks
@@axk thanks Alex. In the meanwhile I switched to the Izotope standard version because some tools were useful and sometimes you can take advantage of the loyalty offers. there is a dereverb even if the Dialogue dereverb function is present only on the Advanced. now i'm studying the software well but I will also look at what you suggested. thanks again
Great as always! It looks like the only part of this workflow that wasn't on the phone was the EQ? Do you have any suggestions for an EQ phone app as to keep the whole workflow on the phone?
as recording technique, gainstaging etc, would there be a difference in sound quality, for recording just voices in the context of voiceover, narrations, and room dialogue using the sound devices mixpre-3 II VS Prism Sound Lyra-1 2x2, using a great mic like the sennheiser mkh 416
Really nice demo - thanks Alex!

Mic placement is probably the #1 most important part of recording anything!
Thanks for this. That de-reverb was especially impressive :)

Oh no, that sounds rough! Hopefully next time you’ll receive better source material, haha
Dude! Your videos are amazing! Thank you for doing these 🤌
Thanks for watching!! Glad they’re coming in handy 🔈

Dude... you are an absolute audio magician! Great video
Thanks David!!

So, getting a good mic is cheaper than trying to fix a bad one. Got it.
What a great video. Thank you 😊
Great as usual. Hopefully I'll never need to work with smart phone or cheap "college lecture" mp3 recorders. But if I do.....
It’s only a matter of time...
Thank you for the video, although everyone has a different taste for the EQ, but you brought the Idea of it closer to the audiences, Thank you Alex!

It’s not about the tools, it’s about the techniques and the knowledge!
100% 👍

Maybe check out Zynaptiq Unveil. Most of these are kind of “pro level” tools...with the price to match 😕

Brilliant
this is gold 👏🏼💯
What a master class Alex. wow
Thanks for watching!! Hope the info is helpful!

RX 8’s Spectral Restoration is also a magical plugin that comes in handy for potato quality audio.
Thanks for a very useful video, Alex. Side question: Is there an Android app for recording you could recommend?
I've had to do audio editing from phone audio before. It works in a pinch
But, as my old college audio instructor would say "Garbage in = garbage out"
But it’s SHINIER garbage now!

Are there any open source audio tools that will let you do this?
I didn’t even know that dereverb exists!!
Shhh, it’s a secret!! 🤫
@@axk 😂
he looks like the guy from the SOAD
Are there any old people like me, Still remember that phones main purpose is taking calls
What’s a “phone call”...? Is that like voice to text?
LOL ear-itated
Oh yeah so you only need to buy some 2000 dollar app, great! When you could literally just buy a michrophone.
Nice infomercial hidden behind great clickbait title.
You talk to much
