The surviving 86 movie cast is the masterpiece collection I went with, there the characters I'm the most familiar with plus I can't afford to fall down that rabbit hole of trying to get every single g1 character!
MMC truly has the perfect transformation, for the sculpt. All they need to do is sculpt it to be fully G1, with the grey parts in alt mode covering her knees filling out a more squared off backpack. It really is down to massive resculpting and some new parts.
thanks for going over these masterpiece options. I was wondering if you could do a future video on g1 season 1 options and g1 season 2 options. and what other masterpiece characters are missing from each of these two seasons. thanks.
Hey bro. Awesome video. I like the MMC Springer more. For me he is the best option since I also had the Fanstoys one and sold it just because the MMC one looks better in my eyes and that is something if you consider that I am a huge Fanstoys fan. Don't know about the Xtransbots version, he looks good but will the final product be? Love the type of videos. Keep them coming.
Magnus: There's the old KFC "Citizen Stack". A lot of folks actually like it more than the Takara MP22. Even though they're ALL way too big, my choice is the Toy House Factory "Hyper Magnum" KO of the Takara...just because an additional bit of tooling does away with the butt flap. Springer: I like the MMC version most. Failing that, there's the Open & Play one. Kup: FansToys "Koot" is really the only viable option. Blurr: FansToys "Jabber" may look the best, but there's that Unique Toys "Buzzing" for something more solid. Arcee: Nah. My choice here is Ocular Max "Azalea" for the win. Rodimus Prime: MP09 has a huge issue with it that's probably got a lot to do with the other issues. There's a pretty good Hot Rod shoehorned into a so-so Rodimus Prime. If they hadn't done that, they probably could've done a better Rodimus Prime. DX9 "Carry" wins here. Hot Rod: MP28/40 has a bizarre design, but whatever. Blaster: KFC "Transistor" is the only show in town... Wheelie: XTB version 2 for the win. Perceptor: ...yeah, right. Dinobots: FansToys may be the best, but they're not readily available these days. That combining set "Shuraking" may be the best second-place option, and possibly a little cheaper at that. Galvatron: Don't forget the Open & Play "Big Cannon". Granted, it's more of a CHUG aesthetic. Otherwise, you can't go wrong DX9 or FansToys. Cyclonus: No idea. Probably can't go wrong either way between FT & XTB. Scourge: Yup...only option is XTB. I wonder why they didn't stick to the color scheme, though...the first one was fine there. Quintesson: Meh. Hasbro's "Voyager" class one for the win. Unicron: Size matters, but the transformation matters, too. Zeta/Studio 01 for the win. Constructicons: The hands down winner is Toyworld. But, you can't go wrong with the Jinbao "Builder.D" oversized KO of Generation Toy "Gravity Builder" (upgrade kit and all), despite that set lacking the anime aesthetic. (In all fairness, Toyworld's not really accurate either, it's more of a Studio OX look) And for representation of that final fateful fight between Optimus Prime & Megatron, the MP44 KO and one of the many MP36 KOs (I suggest Infinite Transformation or Toy House Factory or "Magten") is likely the way to go.
I have the FTs option for all the moviebots they have put out. I love how Rouge looks, but it is among the couple of figures I have not plans on transforming (another is MP-36 Megatron). I think Rouge looks way better in bot mode then the Takara version coming out. I really do not like the backpack or the hips. Saying that, I do have her on pre-order. Even though Rouge will stay my main display piece, I am hoping the Takara is better for flipping back and forth. I do have some doubts after handling my MP Hound and MP-44. Both I transformed very nervously, and will not be doing it again. I have both options for Hot Rod, but once I had Hoodlum in hand the MP became delegated to alt mode. I enjoy my KFC Blaster. So much I purchased the blue repaint as well. If Fans Toys eventually releases one I will most likely pick it up as well. I also agree with you about the KFC tapes. I also like my Ollie. I have the 3rd version. I don't know if I will end up upgrading my Perceptor. I have been quite happy with the first version. Depends on the price I think.
Like you I have been putting my older version of a figure in alt mode and that makes it feel better about having bought 2 of the same character. Sounds like you have a great collection there
Once Virtus finally comes out, I will at least have all the movie autobots I want. Fingers crossed on a Quietus reissue, only decepticon missing there. Going for $400+ on ebay is out of my tolerance, I would even do $250. Generally, I think Takara still is the best on the OG 84-85 bots so I stick to them for anything pre-movie. Everything else I think 3P is usually the better option.
sheesh are Preceptor and Blaster frustrating at every scale? How do 2 of the better looking G1 toys end up having so few options at both mainline and masterpiece scales.
Unless I can get the OM/MMC Springer at a reasonable price or its reissued, I'm sticking with Allen for my Springer. I only paid $60 for him when BBTS had a sale. He's just not that noteworthy to me that I'm going to break the bank to get a better version.
But when are we getting those Xtransbots? I mean I think ive seen them being advertised to be released this year. But we really haven't any new pics. Strange to say the least. As always great video Mike!
I really feel like XTB has gotten stumped on their first priority of Menasor and just put all new projects on the back burner but Yes we need Kup and Springer!
@@tydiriumhanger1320 it's funny, we're waiting on that trailer and I've seen recent pictures. Looks fantastic, I just feel like dang!! It's been a minute. I also think there stuff is a bit pricey too.
I always hoped Open and play would do the Sweeps. I mean they are in line with their other offering and because of the shell nature they could be greatly simplified. At this point I hope someone KOs and oversizes the Takara studio series toys to MP scale. I would love to get a few extra sweeps, Ideally they will release a Perceptor that gets oversized so I don't need to buy the FT one.
Yes I would love to get a Sweep figure from another company and see how they go about it. The new Studio series one looks great and would fit well if bigger
Great 📹 as usual Mike. Im w8n 4 ft Rouge 2 go down on price they're selling for $200 on eBay and I really really don't like da chest from Takara. Ur right all these arcees but no 1 has nailed it yet. I was watching jobby do his review 4 rouge and the backpack on her is ridiculous. But she does look da best 2 me. And I love Fans toys. Thanks again 4 another great 📹 again 👍
It is funny that I remember watching Rouge go cheaper in price back in 2018 and thought I should have waited and gotten a better deal then one day sold out everywhere.
It's funny because up to about a year and a half ago you could get most of these fanstoys figures for under $200, and arcee was about $125 shipped through most ebay sellers for a long time.
Have you seen this one? Being it's a topic you bring up often (regarding Takara Arcee), I'm curious of your thoughts on the points he makes (pun not intended). ruclips.net/video/ih75HMDK4P8/видео.html

"nailed Arcee".... sorry, that got a chuckle out of me :p
No one has nailed Arcee...except maybe Springer 😁

All those companies went after Sringer like how all the girls in high school went after the captain of the football team
It was like Springer was going out of style...wait maybe he did! Thanks
My first two videos of my collection on RUclips will be available soon, tell me what you think @Tydirium hanger

I just keep hearing great things about MMC Springer and would have gotten him if not for the XTB Virtus. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Yeah I only hear good things about the XTB one. We all win buddy.

True Takara has done great work with the early bots and for a while there it looked like they would do a full autobot season 1 set.

no Openplay big cannon? I mean OP Springer was worth your time...
there are rumours that one of the leader class figures for WFC Kingdom is an earth mode Magnus
no love for the junkions?!? Jk, great video as always.
I was going to post the same thing where are KFC's full line of Junkions?
I did have a segment planned and seem to have left them out. Yes Kfc has done them justice and there is that DX9 version
Takara Arcee is based on the Trilling 30 design and is Not a shellformer.
Hasbro did great work on that thrilling 30 version
Hope we get the rest of the bots from Hasbro/Takara
Takara does great work but very few releases!
just save yourself the trouble and go FT :)
Toyworld's alt mode on the top right, looks absolutely terrible.....🤣🤣🤣 I'll be getting Takara's version. I think bout modes look really good!
A more accurate Sandstorm. Some 3rd company failed horribly in vehicle mode.
Yes that would be a great figure! The Unique toys one is getting pricey

I still say the dx9 Galvatron has a better head/ face sculpt.
