@@redzone5655 Similar to Ferrari, I hope they take steps to reset and address them with a new perspective. I'm not sure it's the principal's station to say that X department needs improving, please hire someone else, but it might be a domino in the right direction. Having said that, Ferrari haven't done much to fix their strategy problems over so many different team configurations (drivers and principals), so I guess we'll see...
Exactly, he hasn't done anything wrong. Gene fired Gunther and this guy took the opportunity in front of him. Most people would do the same. Plus paying his respects to Gunther is a good way to start.
Sure, but to be fair, what else are you going to say? Guenther has pieced together every sponsorship on that car, it's not like you can badmouth the guy and not expect repercussions. Anyway, I have no doubt that it's a poisoned chalice. Haas is the least funded team on the grid, with an owner that really doesn't care and they just got rid of a marketing wizard, no doubt there will be even less money available next year and now Gene wants to finish mid-table...good bloody luck.
As someone who remembers him as romain grosjeans engineer back in the day, I hope he's able to provide the haas team with more insight and more knowledge in that side of things able to get them back to a solid midtable team. Hope people don't keep comparing him to gunther or expect him to be like that either. Wish him success.
At least from the documentary no matter how fake it is, Gunther is not a manager who micromanage a lot. He has a lot of stability in his time in Haas. If he were to produce insight, he would have done it. I don't really think it will work but you will never know.
Those questions were terrible, "Do you think you will be popular ? Do you think fans will like you ? Do you think the people at the factory will accept you ?" Like, he's gonna say "NO" to any of this. Ask him about his ideas for the team, his qualities, HIMSELF, not "are you Steiner's son"
Yeah, though to be fair, Haas would have had to approve of all the questions beforehand. It's not like they would have let anything spicy get into the interview.
Always loved Ayao from the small times we've seen him. Such a great guy and look forward to seeing what he can achieve. Lets just hope the media give him a chance rather than slating him from day one.
I hope you do well Ayao. You always come across as a pleasant yet focussed guy which I think are both important in leading roles. Good luck. I do miss Gunther already.
I know this guy, he was one of the finalist in the renault competition for an engineering role, he was of a similar mind to me as appling subsurfaces to wings and body sections. To create subflow. So excited for this man!
Good luck to Komatsu. But honestly the Haas car is fast because of the parts they get from Ferrari, the rest of the speed comes from aerodynamic and frame etc. If Gene refuses to provide factories that can produce those parts performance will not improve. That is also the only way to reduce cost of parts: Making the one you have to make the best way they can be done at the cheapest cost. Gene made a mistake and Haas will pay the price. Ayao is a great guy, look at him all the way back to his early days. Gene not so much.
Yeah...i think gunther wasn't the best for the modern era,but then again gene must invest more .. they cant have a half baked car in this era also...they will always be the 10th team
What an impressive, level headed man who has a clear vision of where he wants to take Haas. The interviewer is trying to dig and create friction but he handled every question with grace and respect. Love Guenther and will miss him very much but I am rooting for Komatsu and hope he achieves everything he wants to do!
Very excited for Mr Komatsu, frankly. Small team with a Japanese engineer at the helm, a man who clearly knows what he has and knows what he wants. Make them nimble, Ayao - find a way to make them fast!

SkySports please next time have a proper interview not the childish questions of the likes "are you going to be famous or accepted". Ask him about his vision, ask him about his views.
As much as I love Guenther, I think Gene made the right decision. F1 is about performance and results, not personality. Any other TP would have been fired long before this.
I like Gunter and was prepared to be disappointed by this interview but Ayao had some really great answers to the interview question and I was pleasantly surprised to see his personality coming out. Plus he’s a climber! If he ever wants to climb over here I’d show him some places to go.
Great interview, and hearing from Ayao directly was encouraging. I'm hopeful he's able to help move the team forward, but there's no question that part of the answer will be more funding during the season - I hope that shows up!
Perhaps we can get some improvement in the aero department. The big challenge I think will be catching up to the other teams' development levels. With the drivers' experience it must be possible. Best of luck, Ayao and Haas.

That slight grin when Craig mentioned the first Japanese team principal to run a non-Japenese team 😊 Looking forward to Honda buying Haas in the future! Then maybe they'll have the investment to progress up the grid
Well Honda wanted to buy Red Bull to be a works team. Horner said no and that's partially why they no longer supply Red Bull with powertrains.
