I usually start with a sample from a vinyl but lately ive been tryna to start with chords to get a different vibe from the usual .. I brought a J6 chord sequencer (which is cool) a few months ago but I feel like I can't learn from it because I want to play it out if I can figure it out myself. .. ✌🏾
@stilltrippin6100 I'm bout to get back into Vinyl for awhile..specially with stems on the way..hmm it's March, is it out? I wanted to grab that J6 for my SP-404 MK2 awhile back, dope that it has a battery and works as a midi controller, so you can use the chords in with external sounds. I feel you too. While something like pad perform is super useful, I much rather learn and play it out myself. It also can be much more expressive this way.
@@88keyzinteresting man 🤔 I've never done this..may try. Are you using a whole song, like rap vocal or are you using like a hook that's melodic and building like 4 or 8 bars of instrumentation on top of that? Asking for a friend, who may or may not make a video out of this 😅 🍻
@88keyz very dope! Is this what you do exclusively about every time or do you go in without an a capella sometimes? Also what are you using to turn the audio to midi. Would be fire if the MPC had this.. fl studio? Cubase? Melodyne? I think I'll start off with a hook and see how that goes. Probably pull something from splice. The insight on your process is intriguing. I feel like these conversations can Trump GAS its reinvigorating 😎🍻
@88keyz yea man I really appreciate 🙏 the show up in the comments. This is a lot of good information/insight. I think the hook thing is going to be a great challenge and excersize for me because I'm also writing songs and would like to tailor hook melodies to fit my hooks like a glove. I appreciate it all and thanks for the encouragement 🙏
the only thing that upsets me about this machine is that you cant plug a mic in directly to this beast. and it needs to be portable with a lithium battery. That be great! but it seems like a great machine. Im having trouble deciding between this and the MPC live 2. nice video, thank you for being slow and including the audience.
Well in the other comment I responded about USB mics so your covered there. MPC LIVE 2 has a battery so you might lean towards that. There are some external battery solutions for MPCs as well you can look into.
I normally make a original 🎵 song , starting with the beat , and so on Then wav the beat to a master version Then after that I go in for the FLIP I mute the drums and bounce out the songs I chop up the song and make another beat with its always a fun creative way to hear your beat in a different style and that way you feel that your getting more done more quickly aswell
So you do start with drums when you make that song, before you bounce, then flip it? I've done a couple loops like that that I later chop up. I may try this again. 🤔
@LiftedNoise Yep start with drums Also I wanted to say that using small tiny shorts sounds to build up a song 🎵 can be better sometimes rather than putting long legato notes in to early can spoil the groove , I've found it over the years of producing is to find little pockets to drop short synth sounds in so you have a groove and then later you can glue the track together later on with legato string to compliment the song 🎵 😀
@simcitybigworldmedia interesting technique 👌 thank You for the insight, bro! Sometimes the silence between the notes make a piece of music interesting.
I meant to say ..how do you get the sample to be able to record it to the track...I'm trying to sample from a flash drive and I want to use a snippet of the track and make a beat around it..I'm new to this MPC flow
@derrickhoward594 load button at top right of key 37 this will bring up your connected drives. If your flash drive is formated correctly you should be able to select it at the right and load your sample. Assign the sample to a drum program. Once on a drum program it can be sequenced.
How do YOU start your BEATS?
