All of the winches mentioned are good quality, however, a Warn winch is normally head-and-shoulders above many others. You will pay for that quality. I own a Smittybilt x2o 10000 pound winch and I am quite happy with it. Performs and functions as intended. Stay safe on the trails fellow off-roaders.
I have the same Smittybuilt x20 10k Winch and have been extremely happy as well. I know Warn has great reviews, but I literally could buy 2-3 of them for the price of the Smittybuilt.
That’s so awesome to hear.. I picked up the zxr 12000 today on sale for $294 and I expect it to last and pull just as well as the smitttbilt winches. I’m smart enough to not burn it up-don’t let it birds nest- and keep the cable clean and lubricated to prevent rust!
Llevo Cinco años con un xrc 9500 en mi tj...a tenido mucho uso y siempre a funcionado muy bien...creo q lo q costo ya se pagó hace tiempo...mas sin embargo funciona igual q de nuevo....salio muy bueno....
Ive been winching out all types of equipment and vehicles back in my days . warn was first but super winch finally came around and i always love them but 10,000lbs plus i burned all. I collected my parts now i have a rear mount 40k pto winch& 200 ft of 1/2 cable on my '75 dually 4x4 Cummins dodge power wagon , which I've owned since 1988
The title is extremely mis leading. These are not the "best winches of 2018" , they are some good affordable winches. For the best winches I would pick my warn 8274 with a Doublewinch power head , or a sherpa mule Dual motor....
I have 2 superwinch lp8500. Absoluty excellent. Had a warn m1200 n the pile of shit burnt out after 4 pulls. Not very impressive. Superwinches have been worked hard.. many many hours of plowing snow on one and it keeps working great
best winches, has 3 warn's on it. Ya no thanks, didnt have anything from Milemarker or other brands. Seems like you are just doing advertisement for warn to get some money.
Thank you for the good video, sir. I have a question. Is there any way to use the "car winch" at home? (sometimes to lift a heavy object) I think I can use winch like this with my short knowledge. Will you check my thoughts? Connect the battery disconnected from the car to the winch, then connect the battery connected to the winch to the battery charger and plug the charger into the 110V in the house. What do you think of this method? And I saw a comment saying that connecting the winch directly to a battery disconnected from a car can overload the battery, which can shorten the battery life and be dangerous. Is that really so? If you know the answer to this question, let me know... Thank you.
what about the 12.5B Runva winch? 12500 lbs. capacity and has been really good and reliable. It's also fast and good looking. Been using for 2 years now.
i bought the smittybuilt 9700 but they don't make a bumper kit for it - now i have to pay a great deal more than the cost of the winch to have a bumper assembly made for me
My X-Bull 13k with wireless remote keeps me out of the water and up next to the vehicle that I am pulling out of the sand so I can avoid damage to it. It does run a bit slower than others, but pulls motorhomes very well
I have the Superwinch 8500 in this video. I've used it for a year and a half, hauling tons of commercial fishing tackle up a 50' cliff. I've maxed this winch so many times, probably hundreds of times and it's still going. I definitely need a more powerful winch, but can't afford $1700.00 for a Warn 15000. Spent 8 hours wrestling a ball of tackle today and I'll have to cut it into 3 pieces, which sucks, even with my grinder. I also had to use a comealong that's rated to 10,000 lbs. and I had a snatch block on my winch. At one point the operator told me the winch was smoking, which is why I'm looking, way overheated. Looking at the Shittybuilt 17,000, for $600.00, if it last 1/3 as long as the Warn, I'll be breaking even. In some of these videos though, I'm questioning if the Smittybilt will actually lift 17,000 lbs.. So hard to tell, with so many variables, like friction and unknown load weights.
Tulsa makes the best winch for rigs heavier than a one ton truck but Ramsey is an excellent winch for pickups and jeeps and they are still American made. The Badlands is a very good winch from what I've heard from other guys on the trail.
I don’t understand why everyone says you can get the Smittybilt winch for under $300. It is three years later and the cheapest price I can find for that winch is $340
If you purchase a warn 4000 or 4500 i cant remember do not use the free wheel to pull cable i bought on bran new while installing winch i used the disengage to pull cable through roller fairlead an it would not reingage so i removed it put back in box got another at dealership installed it same way an it would not engage ether after free wheel so i took my ranger to dealer they removed my winch they install another new winch the same way i did an the 3rd new winch would not reingage after the freewheel was used so we took one apart to see to see what was wrong the freewheel handle or knob had 2 toothpick size plastic pins that sheer off when you twist the handle they gave me the winch i did figure out how to reingage so i could use the winch without the freewheel option but after 4 times of using the winch the armature burnt up so i bought a used warn 4500 with the old metal freewheel ingage its prolly 8 years old an it still pulls great dont buy the ones with the red plastic free wheel its junk straight outta the box
Alex Macksey I have the same one on my Jeep Wrangler for one and a half years now. It has two single line pulls, one snatch block pull and also one self-recovery. Has not let me down and has paid for itself.
Nice vid! I was considering a Smittybuilt, this has me convinced. Although I do currently own a Superwinch & it’s been awesome the Smittybuilt seems like better value.
REVIEW TUBE I actually have a 2000LBS Super Winch on my modified 2000 Dodge Neon lol! I installed that for lifting my snow blade I have fitted to the car, it’s done over 100hrs of heavy use on the snow blade & then I also take the car off road where I’ve used that winch a handful of times to recover the car when it was stuck in deep snow, despite the car being 3000lbs plus gear & passengers that little winch doesn’t even slow down pulling it out! I’m now shopping for a winch to put on my 2001 Ford Super Duty, I plan to put one front & rear so cost is really a factor when you multiply by 2... I only paid $67 for that little Super Winch on sale, it replaced a 1 yr old Champion I had put on the car initially, that Champion was falling apart & burnt out, didn’t pull half as hard as the Super Winch. I have a bunch of videos of my car on my channel, check it out if you have a minute, I have playlists for it.
What are the planetary gears made of? Many companies make them out of plastic. Warn included( depending on the model) Don’t want plastic gears. This doesn’t seem like a real world stress tested review.
Superwinch has steel cut gears. I have a EP 9.0 I bough about 13 years ago. Started on a Jeep now sits on a Chevy 2500. Been used quite a bit on the trail and around my property. Bought 2 Superwinches for my ATV's. Never had a failure. Had a Warn that came on my ATV and it failed in about a year and a half.
My F350 has a 12k Sherpa winch, my F600 4x4 runs a 20k Tulsa winch, both are top shelf. I'd buy a Smittybilt or Ramsey before a Warn, the quality just isn't there anymore.
I'd like you guys to evaluate the "Traveller" series (Tractor Supply Co) winches, and evaluate the: RUGCEL Winch 12V 3500LBS/1587kg Electric ATV Winch 2 Remote Wireless Control Steel Cable Boat ATV Kit on A,mazon
I have only had Warn. Great stuff but soooo ridiculously over price I will try a Sherpa Steed for my Ram 3500. Saving $1600 from the Warn 16.5Ti-s and it seems even better quality! It would be nice to see some reviews with the Sherpa. It’s an Australian winch. Smittybuilt and Superwinch are Chinese built.
I agree with the this comment. While the video is nice enough and descriptive I was hoping for some side by side comparison putting these winches to the test in the mud and to the limit.
I don't dislike all this winches. But whoever wants something really f****n good try the. Warm M 15.000 my experience is that the best is the m15000. I own two of them 👍👌
This was a horrible comparison. No mention of materials of the hearing, and the final winch was described for trucks then nothing but SxS.. I don't think he knows anything about winches

harbor frieght badlands beats all these, more teh n half the prices and pulls harder then alot of these also cheap warranty and no questions asked trade in for a new one, i run a 5k in the rear and 9k in front

LOL, what about the HF Apex 12k synthetic?
I have the Smittybuilt 10,000 and it has been great! I've used it numerous times and it works very well!

i have had a smittybilt on my jeep for years and love it. just a good no frills straight forward winch
Interesting, thanks for sharing, what’s the model you have?
hi from new zealand. is it waterproof as stated?. cheers.
Been using the Smitty built 9500 to load logs on a gooseneck trailer...no complaints
i got xrc on my wrangler and grand cherokee. no issues love it
I just purchased the smittybuilt 9500 for my 06 wrangler, I can't wait for it to get here
I have this winch with synthetic rope, had it for a couple years and it works great.. for the money you can't beat it
I got a 12k Badlands on my jk and never had any problems.
kkbodyshop I have a 9000 badlands on my Chevy Silverado four-wheel-drive and I have never had a problem with it
I also have a Badlands 12K and it has saved my ass enough to pay for itself times over. :)
@@MrLegacy36 where did you get that kind of deal
Karam Singh it goes on sale every few weeks where I live. Its always either $294 or $299 almost all the time
I have a super winch 9000lb winch and love it!!!they have been around for 40 years!!!!so they do something right!!!!
Llevo Cinco años con un xrc 9500 en mi tj...a tenido mucho uso y siempre a funcionado muy bien...creo q lo q costo ya se pagó hace tiempo...mas sin embargo funciona igual q de nuevo....salio muy bueno....
The number one pick has let me down. I really don’t wanna believe this is the best of the choices out..
Ive been winching out all types of equipment and vehicles back in my days . warn was first but super winch finally came around and i always love them but 10,000lbs plus i burned all. I collected my parts now i have a rear mount 40k pto winch& 200 ft of 1/2 cable on my '75 dually 4x4 Cummins dodge power wagon , which I've owned since 1988
Carlos Chavez you need to by the RE 12000 lbs Ramsey worm drive. I promise you it will never burn up.
Why in the world is a Polaris RZR winch 850 dollars when the big winches are much cheaper?
The title is extremely mis leading. These are not the "best winches of 2018" , they are some good affordable winches. For the best winches I would pick my warn 8274 with a Doublewinch power head , or a sherpa mule Dual motor....

best winches, has 3 warn's on it. Ya no thanks, didnt have anything from Milemarker or other brands. Seems like you are just doing advertisement for warn to get some money.
I've had both milemaker and warn winches, warn was hands down the best.

Bought a apex 12000 looks like the high end Warren but sleeker looking works like a charm and actually a attractive looking add on
i bought the smittybuilt 9700 but they don't make a bumper kit for it - now i have to pay a great deal more than the cost of the winch to have a bumper assembly made for me
Which one would be the best for a Silverado 1500
Are Sherpa winches and good
My X-Bull 13k with wireless remote keeps me out of the water and up next to the vehicle that I am pulling out of the sand so I can avoid damage to it. It does run a bit slower than others, but pulls motorhomes very well
Yes I boughy one for a 2000 ford f350 super duty truck but I want to know how I could install it in my truck in front of you have some video
Milemarker 9500 winch?..... Had it for 8 years and love it
I have the Superwinch 8500 in this video. I've used it for a year and a half, hauling tons of commercial fishing tackle up a 50' cliff. This is NOT A TEST, STOP calling it that, You are so sponsored by Warn it stinks
Not at all, and the video is a buying guide (in the title)
what was the criteria used to determine these selections?
You show a lot of jeeps in the video. How about one for a 3500 lifted Ram?
Agree. I think they associate winches with jeeps only like there's no other vehicle in the world
Love my smitty X2O 10k
Alex Macksey I have the same one on my Jeep Wrangler for one and a half years now. It has two single line pulls, one snatch block pull and also one self-recovery. Has not let me down and has paid for itself.
I have seen durability testing the super winch is the best bang for the buck
What size car winch should I put on a smart car? I ask that because your title says car winch.
Smart car...?
Dude sounds like he should be on some Mexican radio station
So basically you just played a bunch of other peoples advertisements good job
Moto Alliance Viper 12k winch? $400 for synthetic line, good reputation in the ATV/UTV community. I just installed on my LX570.
A winch for your CAR? They're trucks Ben!
The warn VR is not half the winch a badlands apex is and it’s half the price! I have had both
What about champion winches? Any good?
Make a review of the Badland Apex 12000

I have the 9500 and so does my father in law, for the money it is a lot of winch.
Good video.
What are the planetary gears made of?

96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo what’s your rig?
GIGGLEPIN winches would rip any of those clean out of their mountings. If you want power buy Gigglepin
How about the sherpa winch
Sorry you focused on warns as if you got paid to advertise. I've used badlands winches and will continue to use them in the future.
If you give me a new warn... id sell it n buy 2 superwinches. I wont ever buy another bad warranty warn product ever again.
You did not mention the 12000 pound winch that Harbor Freight sells for $350
My F350 has a 12k Sherpa winch, my F600 4x4 runs a 20k Tulsa winch, both are top shelf. I'd buy a Smittybilt or Ramsey before a Warn, the quality just isn't there anymore.
How about the travelers winch from tracker supply has anybody used one I need a good winch for car hauler

What about dobinsons
Dobinsons ??
Yea those cheaper winches are nice if you like fixing it all the time. Stick to my Warn Winch 10,000.
Trust me the smittybilt 9500 is awesome
How about the 12000 Bull winch
Test a winch it 13500 a think its good
Checkout Rugcel 1200 waterproof with synthetic line before you decide .

What comparison is this? Two brands? This is not a comparison at all!!!!
I agree with the this comment. While the video is nice enough and descriptive I was hoping for some side by side comparison putting these winches to the test in the mud and to the limit.
how about Rugged Ridge ?
How about ironman4x4 winch
Wont someone "yank my mudder"? please...
love my warn VR10s on my jkur
I don’t think there’s a car around I would put a Winch on lol. Definitely a truck, or jeep, not a car.

Brand add!
harbor frieght badlands beats all these, more teh n half the prices and pulls harder then alot of these also cheap warranty and no questions asked trade in for a new one, i run a 5k in the rear and 9k in front
not a good presentation. half way in they say this is a value winch review.
Smittybilt winches are not worth your hard earned money. Purchase another brand. Mine that I never used almost burned up my truck (1.5 years old at the time) when the relay shorted out in my driveway. They can not do anything but want to sell me another winch since it was discontinued.
you are in this video too. I really want one winch but I want to do a good inversion
Warn are Junk and Smittybuilt are worse Junk!
Whatever dude
Late model Warn winches are trash... sorry, but disagree
Terrible review, you know nothing about winches you’ve just read the brochures
Warn warn warn blah blah blah blah blah
X-Bull. I will never buy another overpriced Warn piece of shit again.
