Age of Aether lets you harvest a resource from mountains that can be converted into electricity or other more resources you were already producing. Age of Ecology lets you flatten mountains. So you can do things with mountains, but it depends on how the game is going.
Indeed! There's also other "civics" like the religious explorers (conquistador) that greatly values hill tiles for building Monasteries.
1:55 I loved this part, a war between 2 countries using medieval weapons and armour, but the background had cars.
Just love that you got rockets and landed on the moon before planes
To be fair we actually did develope basic (weapon) rockets like a hundred years before planes. Or even furthur back if we count stuff like Hwatchas.
"Can I bribe them?" 😅😂🤣
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but intuitively speaking I would not expect a bomber to be particularly useful against another flying unit, considering that bombers are traditionally used as a way of dealing damage to ground targets with only enough guns (if any) to defend themselves from being shot down by fighters.
I was thinking the same thing, seems like it’s a bit bugged with the interceptors and bombers mixed up for air unit damage at least
Seems like a bug, but if the motherships are closer to the ground and are effectively just carriers, then bombing them would work, they might have CAS to fight off fighters, but that's all a stretch without more info 🤷
Anti Air weaponry is fast, usually agile, and doesn't do much damage. It doesn't have to, because aircraft are fragile things. The term alien mothership on the other hand implies a huge spaceship. A huge, slow moving spaceship in the atmosphere would become easily targetable by much more powerful anti ground ordinance, while anti-aircraft weapons just don't do enough damage to it. So I think it's very reasonable to expect bombers to be much better against them.
"So basically political ideologies replaced religions in the modern era." Gotta say, this videogame is giving a pretty harsh, but true, criticism of modern society.
Dichotomies are great constructs for external threats.
"Hills are usless". I think Pravus don't know about crusade spam boiz.
Man this age is quite a let down, i was expecting a war of the worlds type of scenario and the ships just stay there doing nothing.
What age are you talking about
@@TheMuffinMan-lf4pn this one apparently.
Well, the aliens here are as piddlingly powerful as the Martians in Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds.
Yeah, they're annoying but not challenging.
Huh. This game looks like it has some really slick ideas but needs a good amount of work balancing them!
Ah yes, simply bribe Alien Judas and the ship crashes.
-Crisis Age only run when?-
The game needs an update chaining different ages cause right now you have to have a basic one between each unique era
For everyone excited remember: Millenia will launch WITHOUT Multiplayer. So if you want to play with friends, hold off from buying the game until they implement it.
*There will be what's called Cloud Hotseat MP from launch, but this isn't a meaningful multiplayer. It's effectively a singleplayer game, where you load the game, play 1 turn, save the game, send it to the next player, who downloads the game, plays 1 turn, saves the game, sends it to the next player, and repeat. Naturally this is an awful excuse of an MP, and true Multiplayer is said to be added later, though no info has been shared as to when.
Speaking as an old gamer, there's definitely an element of nostalgia there (and for Dominions players, it's business as usual), so maybe us old fogies are the target audience for that kind of PBEM multiplayer? I'm not sure of what goes into the infrastructure for 'normal' multiplayer modes, so maybe this is a stopgap measure while they get more servers or something?
I remember Dominion multiplayer being that we each got a save file and the server took them all to process the new turn. I only played 3 or 4 games however
Why do people consider multiplayer as the default for 4X games? As an older gamer - sadly - it boggles the mind. It doubly boggles the mind that someone is so upset they feel the need to comment in this. Sorry, but… Pravus liking the game is not the be all and end all, watch other reviewers, like say, the Spiffing Brit, to see the flaws.
@@TheHorzabora It's extremely simple. The AI is dumb, higher difficulties are just AI cheating, which is also easily overcome.
If you have a shred of intellect after a few games, it becomes repetitive. Furthermore, my comment was solely to people who were looking forward to MP since Millenia was falsely advertised for MP.
I really like both the idea of alternate ages you can *choose* to advance to, along with the speculative possible future ages. I think that this game is pretty good, and that if given a little more development could easily leave a noticeable impact on the 4x genre.
>In a world where humanity can use their spiritual energy to slam dunk alien space craft.
>The olympics are held to gather said energy.
>The aliens are currently invading.
>The rest of the world is on fire.
>Rome stands with it's Surface to Air missiles, so the aliens stay away.
I'd watch it. Sounds like a mixture of Mad Max and anime with just enough insanity to buy. The aliens seemingly never had to deal with SAMs before, so they refuse to deal with it. Or worse, have encountered SAMS and couldn't adapt against them. So they just hope really non-warlike people call them back. They refuse to target cities on the very principle. But they'll burn everything else they can get their hands on. Sometimes.
I would absolutely watch the shit out of that show
Nice for filming the late game content. Having aliens looks very cool! Remind me of SImcity or Spore. The game is looking very enticing.
Love this game. Also, bribing the aliens was awesome.
Ah yes bribe the aliens hahaha
ok...this alien age is hilariously awesome
I think the game has a lot of merit, but in the end, this game is all about techrushing, as techrushing gives you all the advantages without drawbacks. with the tech advantages , you can negate the focus of the techrush so it seens to be the best choice. Still, I do like the tech system as it offers variety. you can meet other civilizations that have picked different tech than you and behave differently. This is a weakness of other 4x games where it is all a straight path. masters of orion does it a bit differently with tech choices and distant worlds 2 has randomized trees, but they don't offer much variety.
Man master of Orion was my game back in the day. That and wing commander
Pravus: "Hills are so useless. All you can do is mines and quarries. Maybe windmills later in the game."
my brother in Pravus you can research energy right now to get windmills
Also Pravus: "I'm not making any cars because I don't have a meaningful amount of steel!"
Man, IF ONLY there was some ORE SOMEWHERE that you could refine into steel! (According to the wiki, you can actually refine copper, gained from mining a hill with no resource, into steel once you have a steel-producing building; you don't NEED to have iron to make steel)
33:23 Yeap Which is why I like games like Master of Orion (the original), Civ 5 and Old World where this is kept at least partially in check.
8:03 its not that they avoided it, its just locked behind age of generals
"Maybe - I don't know - Aerial Warfare or something. I got a bad feeling we're going to get to do a bit of warfare."
"Ah, forget Aerial Warfare."
*Find out you need an air force to attack alien mother ships*
"I don't have an air force so this is bad."
Huh, if only someone had predicted that.
hm, I wanna see Age of Archangel and Departure. What will happen.
What SOME people think would happen if we met aliens (we won't win).
There are plenty of delusional humans who want humanity to go extinct
So it's a win for them
There are plenty of humans who want humanity to disappear
Its a win for them
Eh depends how advanced they truly are because if they don't have good enough technology then they would find it very hard to wage war in another solar system
@@xeno6422 It also depends on if they are friendly or not. A civilization built by a strong community has to have at least a semblance of empathy, no? As such, it's more likely the first alien species we ever meet is egalitarian and/or pacifistic in nature.
Nah, I'd win
Here a hint for Ai singularly: computer simulation.
The Illuminati😂😂😂
Age of Heroes and Age of Aether nets some rather awesome stuff, if you can manage both. But also seems to lock you out of some stuff; my last run, I did Age of Departure despite SO MANY SETI ATTEMPTS and had basically researched all techs, but still had cannons and early machine guns for best unit in those branches. Somehow never got artillery and such.
And yeah. We need forested hills, forested scrubland, forested tundra, grassland vs. scrubland hills, etc.
Praise Pravus
You ascended into the Jedi Council
You can raze cities, thou its really badly done. You either use barbarians, which in your case is no longer an option, or you take the Special Operations national spirit. That one has raze enemy city function.
Love that Jim Carrey takes the time to make these videos for us all to enjoy. Big respect JC
Love the crisis age is basically I may be fucked, but as long as I am not the least prepare one, i am good.
hmmm, nice
Age of Visitors?!?!! Take my money!!!
because if aliens do come we can simply bribe them to crash in the name of Lord Pravus!
The Emperor Pravus Protects.
I challenge you to do a run with all the red ages and be combat focused
Its exhausting to watch all the laggy transitions and animations...
Fragile spirit.
will computer ai try rush a win if we plan to just explore tech in all ages and explore all parts of map?
"I think Communism might be better" -Pravus 2024
Pravus 2025: “I think communism killed a lot of people.”
Also him:
Me: Johann can you buy me the latest civilization game?
Johann: BuT wE hAvE tHe LaTeSt CiViLiZaTiOn GaMe aT hOmE
Civilization game at home
bribe them to crash lmao
Love minimum requirements an i5 and 8GB of RAM for a game that looks like an undergraduate project
Most optimized paradox game be like:
(i know paradox isn't the developer)
love the Tekken 3 backdrops in combat
Good pronunciation, btw, dude)
damn that was a huge let down ngl, especially having seen what the age of ecology is like
Worth a Day 1 buy or wait?
definitely wait, it needs some rebalancing
Hi
funny
Communism, Democracy and what…? Damn I’m disappointed
What you mean, what do you think world war 2 was about? Commuism (Facist Italy, Nazis, The soviet union), Democaries (USA, Britain, France) and Fundmanetists (Vaction city, Iran)
@@Alexander_the_Greatest I don't remember anything about the pope going to war in WW2
@@TsoudoName "Um acutachlly, You just make that up" 🤓🤓🤓
It's paradox. It's tragic for our money and time utility.
it kinda forced the age of rocketry there are a couple of special ages at that level that didn't even show. I'm sure there are others. I really don't like the lock out.
I think it's to add to the replay value.
You aren't locked once you win, you play again, and go for something else is their idea.
This was the most anticlimactic finale of the game I ever saw. Last age was absolutely nothingburger. And aliens are very poorly done.
I am not surprised so many people are critical over this game. Feels more like an early access.
While the video is entertaining in itself because of you Pravus, this video turns me completely off of Millenia. The game seems bland, janky, poorly optimized (what is that poor fps?) and unfocused in the million of ideas the game throws at the player ,none of them interesting. Add to that the price tag of 40 euros and it's a solid fuck no from me.
Wow this game looks boring.
Starts the video with Deus Vult, I dig it
