The Denon 8500 does NOT process 15.1 channels. It processes 13.1. It has 15.2 pre-outs and 15 speaker terminals. It allows you to set up both a 7.2.6 Dolby Atmos and a 13.2 Auro3D setup and will auto-switch between them depending on the incomming signal. The 8805 also has 15.2 pre-outs and will auto-switch. Also only processes 13.1 channels.
Ok here is a question that is off topic. I have a large room 6200 QFT in my new house. and I'm doing an experiment. My current sub (though not a sub) is a 12" amazon piece of junk. I do pro sound on the side and have 2 Turbosound M18 powered 1200w RMS subs that i use in my system. I only use my Pro gear 2-3 times a year. just for fun I packed them in the house and set them up with my Theater. now these only go down to -3 db at 30hz so I'm realistic that with the room I might get to -3 at 25hz. The result was astounding! I have headroom for days! as you would expect from a unit that can produce 134db each. So here is my question. would it be worth my while in your opinion to set up REQ and try to actually integrate them into my system? I don't expect much if any infrasonic content but if i could eq them to reasonably flat at 20hz the impact from these things in the 40-50hz range rivals anything I've ever heard. And I don't have to spend a single dollar! thoughts? BTW I have a Denon AVR-s750h with Audyssey
I don’t understand why Consumer AV manufacturers aren’t using phoenix jacks for balanced audio vs XLR. Most all high end pro products are using Phoenix over XLR or Dante/ AVB / AES67
I chose the Denon. I had the Yamaha 5200 prepro and matching 11 channel AMP. The Denon sounds better the Yamaha combo. I have more speaker hookups and processing channels.
Agree with Joe that Denon generally measures better as they don't color the sound like Marantz. However, at this price point, I think these are both overpriced for what they are. Anthem and Monolith HTP-1 will get you better quality and performance for the same or less price with better room correction.
I have the Denon X8500 HA and the Marantz SR 8015. The Denon sonically is better for movies because it seems to hit better for home theater. However, the Marantz is great on music because of the Marantz motto, " Because Music Matters." The Marantz seems to do job in home theater department since the Marantz is such a musical receiver it enhances the home theater experience. I think both are amazing home theater receivers. Generally, for the amount of money these receivers cost, separates would be the way to go because you get better performance on music & Movies, but it wouldn't be by much.

Exactly!
yep i told them in the chat
Timing I just purchased a Denon receiver over a Marantz because of cost. I'm satisfied with the S760H.
End of another week. Have a good weekend. Woot woot
I used to have the Denon avrx 2100 .. Loved it.
Now i have the Marantz sr7015 and absolutely love it
I really hope those brands get a chance to build new receivers.
Today their prices are pretty high
Mike is back hey buddy.

Sound United v. Sound United (is the sell to the new holding company finished yet?)
Denon A110, one amp to rule them all
8500 ad ed
Marantz "five thousand," for $4,999 -- OK; Denon "four thousand" for $4,599 -- oops. "For a thousand bucks..." -- oops.
