I still have the legendary Denon AVC-A1HD, and still using it with my 5.1 system with demanding speakers and it rocks! I do not think that any modern current 3000$ receiver would have the power it has and clarity. The only problem is the Hdmi board is outdated etc.. but all the AVC line from Denon is gold!

If your Denon (awesome machine btw.) plays DTS HD Master or Dolby True HD, you can go for a Feintech HDMI eARC extractor. I did so with my Rotel 1560 and can use it now on my new Sony X95L tv with glorious sound.

    Under $750 - Denon x1800H.
For those who have the $$$$, only need 5 channels driven - don't sleep on the MRX 540 8K for outstanding receivers under $2,000. Amazing for smaller rooms with 100wpc all 5 channels driven. The sound quality for movies and music is superb.

Great review; however, based on my experience, I found the Denon AVR x2800H price mentioned in the video to be significantly higher than what I've seen (European price c. Eur 620 for DAB version as of Dec 2023). In terms of performance, I felt this receiver had a more entry-level sound quality, even with room corrections and paid Audyssey app, it sounded way processed and artificial...Totally disappointed with this receiver and replaced it with an Onkyo NR6100 and never looked back.

Completly agree..... avr's are loosing to pre amps and additional seperate power amps and far better streamers...
Question..... who puts all their "old technology eggs" in 1 basket, when one can buy "separates" and always keep up with the best of technologies, and power/audio advancements requirements with separate amps or mono-block tech, newer ess and akm chips are coming out now every 6 months as the technology's improve vastly, so a "modern dac" will replace any receiver, and as for "streaming services" well rose and eversolo have some wonderfull machines with beautiful displays, beating todays 1980's receiver displays they use today, even at the 7,000$ range still use the 80's panel displays.....
      THIS IS 2024...... NOT 1984......
Hence the receiver/avr's of today are dieing and will die. (Worried about hdmi inputs for your devices?.... either buy a "splitter box" or a better television....... )
Regarding all these "atmos & auro3d" effects, there are alot of "pre amps" who have that technology built into them, (with newer dacs) and will have 12ssquared connections aes ebu connectors and all the rest that modern dacs have at 300$ or above....
The market just needs to realise that "sepperates" are the way forward..... its great for the consumer keeping up to date and choosing what compona t features they like, and great for the retailer who can charge MORE for 4 individual items, then 1 big unit that weighs 70lbs or 38kg packed (ie the dennon avr that is 15 channels at 50w driven per channel over 15 channels driven at 8 ohms, and drops to 45watts per channel at 15 channels driven on 4 ohm and smokes like hell under that load..... class ab amps grossly under powered)........
(this is the "advertising hype" YOU ALL have to be very carefull of, that avr amp on here at 90watts per channel at 2 channels driven, with 11 channels powered capable........ what do you thing that amp will give to all 11 chanels when it can only drive 1 at 90 watts ????? I would guess around 10 watts at 8 ohm and about 12 watts at 4 ohm.... (the load on these amps at 4 ohm is that high, the transformer cant give the power they need, so it and the transistors fry.......).....
Sooooooo YOU think tour buying a "90 watts per channel" amp, when its only over 2 channels....... turn the rest on, and your biying a "10 watts per channel" amplifier......
DO YOU REALISE HOW YOU ARE GETTING MILKED BY MISSLEADING ADVERTISING ?????????
Who would buy a 10 watt per channel amp? But thats what your doing but dont realise that.....
GO LEARN SOME ELECTRICAL THEORY...... AND REALISE THINGS.

Hi there, just confuse to choose between Onkyo Tx Nr7100 or Marantz Sr6015. Fyi, I own Onkyo Tx Nr676 for now, but since it had problem with the HDMI board (according by Onkyo technician), and the part isn't available anymore, so I have to replace it with either one I mentioned. And I afraid if I choose Onkyo , is that possible the same problem will occur again with the tx Nr7100? I see on Onkyo official web, they stated that it has been refined for chassis, HDMI board, DAC, Digital/Analog inputs, power-amp grounds and power lines.
I use the Tx Nr 676 only last for approx 2 years and HDMI board got problem. I really like Onkyo especially from how it sounds, really great. But I've traumatic because of the HDMI board issue.
From people who I asked, they say Marantz is very close to Onkyo for the quality of sound, and I search the equivalent is Sr6015 with similar specs, except Marantz has Pre-Out but the Wifi still using Wifi 4 (a/b/g/n), and Onkyo has not pre-out, but it has THX certified and already Wifi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac). Both of them I-MAX enhanced.
    Thanks for your advice...

I don´t understand, why reviews of receivers close don´t mention DTS and mention the Dolby Atmos, as the "big one"?! 90% os the BD-Audio discs are, natively, DTS-HD as the top of the line, and Dolby Atmos is just a "extra bonus" and not a official audio standard. I prefere, far away, DTS codec: best sound quality and more realistic sound.

An AVR 15 channels with 4 independent subs? Think beyond 7 or 9 channels probably it just for pure marketing or audiophiles/audio enthusiasts. Not sure currently if any mainstream online or physical media even support that many channels and understandably for audio files of uncompressed Dolby Atmos, possible future proof, but probably not full use atm .

I so wanted to buy that AVR-A1H..... i shall now look for another product, or stick with my older pioneer as that does kick out infrasounds to my subs, even though it is 15 years old, i use "mini dsp hd" to conteol and improve my subs responce......
Pity about that "flagship" dennon..... i liked it so much, but if it only does 20hz on the subs, pointless saving up for svs subs then.......

I had orded pb3000...... i will have to either keep them and hope to find a better avr, or send them back...
Thanks for telling us the dennon AVR-A1H is useless, as i thaught the 2019 dacs it was using was old enough already...... plus, if it does 150 watts per channel at 2 channels driven and around 105 watts at 9 channels driven..... i guess using all 15 channels driven, it will put out around 40 to 50 watts per channel to the 15 channels driven....... if people try to connect 4 ohm speakers to all 15 channels to get more "output" then i rekon that transformer and transistors would heat up considerably, hence all the fans they have put in this unit to try to stop it from frying, as that transformer is chronically underpowered, and could NEVER give the energy to power 15 channels at 150watts....... more like 30 watts per channel at all 15 channels driven at 4 ohm...... but they wont tell you that, as you think your buying a 150watts per channel amplifier.....
ITS ALL BULL POOP 💩 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

You included the Sony STR-AZ5000ES in the sub $1,250! The Sony STR-AZ5000ES sells for $2,099, definitely not below $1,250!
The Sony STR-AZ5000ES at $2,099 is the better deal if you don’t need 13 channels of the Sony STR-AZ7000ES.

Sorry if we weren't clear! We labeled the Sony as the Best Value 11 Channel Home Theater Receiver. The best under $1,250 was the Denon AVR-X2800H.

I love my Arcam. Followed Audio Advice and they had Arcam as best receiver of 2023. Been very happy with it. Did have a couple bugs but most recent firmware cleared that up.
Love it for music and movies and the 16 channels of processing is amazing.

Agreed. We absolutely love the sound of the Arcam. If you want the absolute best sound and that is what you care about, go with Arcam. However, other brands have some features that might be better for certain people!

What "profit" is in a 150$ avr????? Non.... thats why it wasnt reviewed....
Don't forget, installer/retailer "markup" on these avr's are atleast 50% to cover store rent, electricity and sales peoples wages and some small profit for the company as nowadays, sales will have plummeted drastically...... ☹️
