Monolith Amps..DDSC HD, AL32 Multichannel Processing, Made in Japan, More Wattage...the 4800H has the same exact build quality as the 6700h but is lacking 2 more power amps and only 11 channels of processing..come on people you guys are supposed to be the experts on youtube 🤦‍♂️

The X4800H has better soundquality than the X6700H and a much better video section and supports 4 subwoofers. Nobody needs 13 channels. Auro 3D and the other upmixers cant even use the front wide channels. There is a reason most manufacturers never mention them.

@@Cenkolinobut all of the big names and processors do Auro3D., just up mixing movies that are not in Atmos is a great option, The Wizard of Oz Upmixed sounds so much better than the original.

Better Dac(via clock jitter reducer), Better Processor (32 bit), and yes 4800 is MIJ. It also has Audyssey LFC which is very useful for people in appartments/condo's. The 3800 has a very basic dac/processor.
You guy's miss this detail every time this question comes up. The wattage is the least important spec difference.

Was trying to make a decision between these 2 and really came to no conclusion after watching the video. Thankfully the 4800 went on a sale $200 less than the 3800 which made it a no brainer.

    • @DailyHiFi

It seems that the just of this video is there isn't much difference and not worth spending more on the 4800. If it's $200 less, then definitely a no brainer.

4800 is made in Japan and has a monolithic amplifier section. Now my question is, if you’re using external amplification for L,C,R, is there a big difference between nine amp boards vs a single board?

    • @prczyzew
      @prczyzew Год назад +3

Some more technical details: x4800h has the same amplifier modules as x6700h from the previous line-up. x4700h has two modules (5ch and 4ch). The difference should be in better channel separation but who knows how it incorporates to the overall performance of 4800/6700.

I went with the 3800. I actually had the 4700, which should be the last model equivalent of the 4800, for awhile but returned it for the 3800.
3800 certainly brought it vs the 4700 as that didn’t have the updated UI and only 1 HDMI 2.1 port. 3800 has 4 independent sub outs and can do the directional 4 sub setup just like the 4800h.
I’m very happy with the 3800h running a 5.1.4 setup paired with a Outlaw 5000x amp.
What I would like to see is a measured comparison between Dirac Live and Audyssey on the 3800h!

Can you take a single AVR like the 3700/3800/4700/4800 and have 2 HDMI sources from Apple TV 4K and connect it to 2 TVs in different rooms with 1 TV having 5.1 speakers and the other having 2.0 speakers and play different audio/video content on each simultaneously? And if the 2nd tv had 2 pairs of 2.0 speakers could you play the audio on either/both?

Sorry, but that’s seven minutes of my life. I want back. You guys should have done a little homework instead of the guessing game that went on and resorting to looking what others are saying. I am in the process of shopping for a new AV receiver and looked at the 3800 and 4800 back to back. Aside from the increased wattage and triggers, I believe there are additional I/O’s and the fit and finish of the 4800 is miles ahead with it solid machined aluminum face and drop down door, as well as the two main dials, whereas 3800 feels like really cheap plastic with buttons and dials that feel like they are going to fall apart. I think the stated THD is also lower on the 4800 and i have heard criticism that the 3800 gets a bit “crunchy” or distorted at higher levels. That being said, one of my biggest concerns with Denon, is overheating, as that is why I’m replacing my seven year old model that fried after many instances of shutting down due to heat. I also have another Denon in my main HT that has shut down a number of times from heat issues - and YES, they are both in well ventilated spaces. I have read and heard that this is a fairly common problem with Denon.

Add a fan over the top for longevity! The AIRCOM ones seem highly recommended. Why pay to build cooling into the unit when the customer will just upgrade faster if it dies… :/
I also decided on the 8 series for the better HDMI and selectable pre outs. Went with the X4800H based on Amirm’s measurements vs X3800H and because 11 processing channels are perfect room to grow, I’ll just add a $100 Fosi or Topping Class D amp for the fronts once I max out the power channels.
There’s so much bloat and profit in this market, and it’s frankly enabled by channels that don’t do basic research. These guys were just delivering a hot take but it’s one of the only videos comparing these two so it looks pretty bad.

Youth man, I'm a little perplexed by your comment about the Sony AVRs. You said historically they have been trash. I'm about to pull the trigger on buying the Sony ES 7000. It's a new 13 channel AVR which is what I need. The only Denon option that has 13 channels is three years older and 1300.00 more expensive. Can you tell me what components in the Denon's that make them so price prohibitive. And what 13 channel AVR would you recommend for around 3 grand that would be better?
