  • Fort Wayne, Indiana, is such a great city to visit, but residents say the best part is living here.
John knew it‘s home to Vera Bradley and Sweetwater. But he didn’t expect a Diocesan Museum, a huge Public Library with genealogy center and Abe Lincoln collection, the most perfect Children’s Zoo or Coney Island Hot Dogs. What a great city!

My mom is from Fort Wayne. Went to South Side High School and grew up on Oakdale Drive. Her family later moved to South Wayne Avenue, which I remember from my childhood when visiting my grandmother and uncle Bob. The family name is Druhot. I'd like to get back there someday and maybe see if the current homeowners would allow us to go through the S Wayne house. Sending this link to my brother who spent summers there.

I grew up in New Haven, just to the east of Ft. Wayne, but haven't lived there since graduating High School in 1989 and entering service in the USAF. I always loved Ft. Wayne. It's nice to see so much revitalization. Ft. Wayne has so much wonderful history that so many just aren't aware of.

Excellent job John! My daughter and I watched your Kalamazoo episode and we both felt it would be nice if you could spotlight Fort Wayne and here you are. I was hoping you would share some of the history of our great factories in the city. Like Zollner Pistons being the forerunner of the Detroit Pistons and the former location of the headquarters of International Harvester. I have always felt that if Harvester could have remained in Fort Wayne and continued to make the Scout, they could have possibly dominated the SUV market being that they were ahead of the curve. We enjoyed watching from San Antonio, TX. Thanks for shining the spotlight on our wonderful city!

I love it there! Such a great old town feeling. John should have talked about Parkview Park downtown...Single A Padres team there...The Tin Caps. Its a must...

There were only 23 homicides here last year. For a city of 270,000, that's pretty damn good. Our highest year for homicides was 2016, with 48. But that was an outlier and still well below the national average for large cities.
Yes, Fort Wayne has bad/dangerous neighborhoods, but name a single city our size that doesn't.

Actually, the flag pole at the historic fort is not correct. It would have been in two large sections, not a single section, as in a ship's mast.

This video made me happy but kind of insulted at the same time... Why wasn't the Indigenous Miami mentioned? Especially when you got to the Old Fort? Carlos Nakai literally played live in the Embassy... I know because my brother was responsible for bringing him in from the airport... I understand your video was based on promoting the city but still it IS annoying not to even be mentioned in the history. Mad Anthony Wayne literally took all this from the Miami... just saying.. The zoo,,, always awesome. And Coney Island... my grandparents ate there, my mother took me there, and I in turn took my youngest son there to eat. Basic staple of life that makes a person like me come back just for a hotdog with a steamed bun. I am very happy to see the city I grew up in is getting better, I LOVED the old library, I used to hang out there with my best friend reading or using the typewriters .

People are offended today by so many things. You obviously are one of those. Instead of enjoying a little bit of the history of that great city, you choose to emphasize the things in your world that should have been included. Sad...

Kekionga was mentioned. The video left out a lot of history, pretty much all of it. Besides the Miami, the Delaware, Shawano, Putawatimi, and Kickapoo were also native to the area. Why not get upset that they were left out? They also did not mention the French, who were the first Europeans to come to the area and build a fort here. They left out the huge German immigrant population that arrived beginning in the early 19th century. Let's just get upset about everything.

Don't listen to that one Donald Trump evil MAGA head!! You certainly would be welcome! Listen: THERE ARE NICE PEOPLE WHEREVER YOU GO! And if Fort Wayne Indiana isn't your ideal spot, look into beautiful Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Everytime I go into the Walmart there, I hear lots of Hispanic people talking Spanish! I mean a LOT! I personally love Mexican and Latin American people. And our whole dairy farm industry completely depends on Hispanic people to work on the farms. Plenty of good factory jobs too! There's also at least 4 or 5 nice Mexican restaurants in Manitowoc. You are Welcome here!🤗

I've lived here since 1980 when my family moved up from Florida. It is boring here. Very conservative (possibly the reddest area in the entire nation). But you'd be hard pressed to find a city the same size in the Midwest that isn't just as cheesy. This isn't NYC or LA. Nor is it pretending to be.

Camp Allen had the nation's first professional league baseball game. Downtown has an indoor botanical center. The Forest Park Historical District has beautiful, historic homes. The zoo which is seasonal like some other zoos in Indiana has an excellent collection and is designed to be viewable to children. The Fort Wayne Philharmonic which performs at the Embassy Theater is a very professional orchestra. The new Riverwalk has some nice overlooks based on the video in the program. There is nothing "cheesy" whatever that means about any of it.

I've gotten 4 tattoos here. And I live and work in Fort Wayne. The tattoos were very affordable and are excellent quality. We actually have some very good artists in town. No one I know has a problem paying for them. But I guess if you only make $15 an hour and have kids to feed, you might have to pass.
